Chapter Four ~Ink Machine...?~

Wally watched as the employees shuffled out of the studio. Susie was clutching a script close to her chest, Sammy was humming the recent tune he was working on, and Shawn was clutching onto an Alice Angel doll and muttering to himself. "Good night, Wally. We'll see you tomorrow." The employees said as they left. Wally waved at Sammy and Shawn and turned back to the almost empty studio. There was a few workers still working on a few things, but Wally had learned to work around them. A majority of the mess for that day was managed to be cleaned. However, the employees of Joey Drew Studios were famous for leaving things strewn about.

Wally sighed and headed towards the Art Department. Only two artists remained. He began to pick up a few papers here and there. Bits of pieces of the two artists conversation were heard. "I  swear, James, it seems like Joey keeps asking for more complicated drawings...Or at least that is what I have gathered. How are you comin' along?" The first artist asked.

Wally didn't hear the rest of the conversation as he began to sweep up the floor. Ink splotches were on the floor near the artists' desks, and Wally knew that he'd have to mop up the ink. "I clean this whole place up just to have the employees wreck it again. I do get money for it though." Wally muttered under his breath. Once he finished sweeping, he suddenly realized that he left his mop all the way across the studio. "I'll mop first thing tomorrow morning." He said as he left the artists' to their drawings.

Joey was constantly wanting to add additions to the studio. When Joey Drew Studios first opened, it had everything on the same floor. Back then there was only the Art Department and the Music Department, but when more people started watching the cartoons and Joey got even more money... well he wanted everything to be bigger and better. Wally only saw it as even more work to do. Next on the cleaning list was Joey's office. Everyone hated the boss' office. Wally walked up to the door and knocked. "Who is it?" Joey's voice called out.

"Wally Franks, sir. I'm here to clean your office." Wally responded. He heard Joey get up and walk to the door. The door opened and Joey stood in front of Wally.

"Go ahead then. Don't touch anything on the desk, empty my wastebasket, and restock the ink for me. That's all you have to do. I'm going to get a cup of coffee from the break room. I'll be back in a few minutes." Joey said as he walked past Wally and towards the break room. Wally sighed and headed in.

Papers were strewn about the office at random. Ink was spilled all over the floors and blueprints were sprawled across the desk. Wally started to gather up the papers and set them somewhere that wouldn't be in his way. As he walked by the desk a certain blueprint caught his eye. It was of a machine that would be called 'The Ink Machine'. Joey had scrawled the words 'Only buy when necessary!' across the top of the blueprint. There was notes on the sides of the blueprint on how to operate the machine. Wally got closer and read the instructions.

How to Care For the Ink Machine:

Turning on Your Ink Machine:

Step One: Make sure that the pipes are cleaned everyday to prevent rust.

Step Two: Gears must be cranked up until they snap into place.

Step Three: Make sure that before you turn on the machine that you have filled the ink machine up to the max that it can hold.

Step Four: Pull down the lever that will be located in the place of your choosing.

Step Five: The Ink Machine will then start to produce your ink in a quick and efficient way!

"Didn't I tell you to leave my desk alone?!" Joey asked as he stormed into his office. Wally jumped and dropped all of the papers he picked up.

"Sir, I promise I wasn't messing your desk up. I was just reading about that new machine ya want to install if absolutely necessary!" Wally said as Joey grabbed him by the shirt in one hand and his broom and mop in the other.

"I don't care! Do not go snooping around in your boss' business! Now, get back to work! You can skip my office for the night. Remember to work hard work happy!" Joey mumbled the last part and slammed the door in Wally's face.

"He does something like that in the future then I'm outta here." Wally muttered as he headed to the Music Department.
