Mikey, April, Jacob, and Raph all looked up from what they were doing as they heard screaming and shouting coming from Donnie's lab. Mikey paused their video game as everyones' eyes widened. All of them moving at once, they sprinted to Donnie's lab door with Raph in the lead. He grabbed the doorknob and pulled.

"It's locked!" he shouted, then pounded on the door. "Donnie! Open up!"  The screaming stopped immediately, then laughter began as Donnie's door opened and Leo stood there, trying to hold in his chuckling.

"H-hey, Raph. What's up?" he asked. Ticked and worried at the same time, the others immediately ran into the lab, shoving Leo out of the way and seeing what had happened. They all looked around and saw that all of Donnie's lab tables had been pushed up to one wall, leaving the room looking bigger. Madi stood at one end of the room, while Donnie stood at the other. Water balloons, new weapons, and bombs sat at his feet.

"What the shell is going on in here?" Raph asked, his arms crossed. Madi smirked and exchanged glances with Donnie, who smiled and nodded.

"We'll show you." Madi said, then gave Donnie two thumbs up. "And try out the big one, this time." Donnie grabbed a new gun he had been working on, he referred to it as his 'personal lazor-bazooka'. He lined up the barrel, aiming it at Madi. Raph's eyes nearly jumped out of his head as he quickly stood between Madi and Donnie.

"You are NOT using that thing on her." Raph demanded.

"Relax, Raph. We've been doing this for a while now. We just recently found out about the gift Daniel had told us about, that's why we've been shouting." Leo explained.

"Yeah! Just sit back and watch in awe of my awesomeness!" Madi said, gently shoving Raph back over to the group. "I'd plug your ears for this." she told him, returning to her spot at the seperate end of the room. It was then that everyone noticed the new belt she had around her waist. Deciding he would ask about it later, Raph just watched nervously as Donnie lined the barrel up again as he stood several yards away from Madi. She stood with her knees slightly bent and her palms open, her index fingers touching sides as she held her hands infront of her mouth, a few inches away.

Donnie pulled the trigger.

The projectile from the gun zoomed through the air as everyones' hearts stopped from fright, their hands over their ears. Less than a yard away before the large explosive would've hit her, she squeezed her eyes closed and let out an immensly high-pitched scream that could barely be heard, her fingers slowly extending towards the object coming at her. Immediately, the explosive stopped, then fell to the floor.

Jacob, Mikey, Raph, and April were all speechless, while Leo, Donnie, and Madi cheered and smirked.

"I know, I'm awesome." Madi said as she brushed off invisible dust from her shoulders.

"How did you-?" April started, but couldn't finish her sentence.

"And check this out." Donnie said as he picked up a water balloon, then threw it at her. It smashed agaginst her stomach, but she wasn't wet as the water dripped down her legs and gathered on the floor. Madi smiled, putting her fists on her hips.

"Woah! That is so cool! How did you do that?!" Mikey said as he ran to Madi's side. She explained the projectable shield Donnie had given her and Mikey immediately wanted one, too. So did everyone else. 

"Before we all jump at this," April said, standing between Donnie, Madi, Leo and Mikey, Raph, and Jacob. "Let's get a few things straight. How come Madi hasn't been able to scream like that before?" 

"Well, I believe that the 'gift' Daniel told us about on the rooftop was the fact that Madi has special electrons and atoms in her nervous system, which contain small amounts of mutagen. Since I used Kraang technology to build and power her shield-belt, the power inside the power cell inside of the belt interacts with those electrons, which pulls all of the mutagen atoms to the most powerful part of her body: her throat. So when she screams, those electrons are projected through the air in the direction that the sound waves are going, which stops whatever is in her path for as long as she screams." Donnie said. Madi understood what he had said, but the others all stared at him like he had grown a third leg. The scientist sighed.

"She has super mutant powers." Donnie summed up. 

"Oooohhhh." They all said, understanding. Madi smiled at Donnie.

"This is so cool! I'm, like, totally indestructable!" Madi said, flexing her small muscles, causing everyone to laugh.

"It's good that you got your mind off of the dance." Jacob said. Everyone stopped laughing as Madi's smile fell and she folded her arms, glaring at Jacob. April didn't look to amused either as she copied Madi's movements.

"You just had to bring that up, didn't you?" Madi asked as she walked through the group, forcefully nudging her shoulder against him as she left the lab. Everyone looked at April, hoping for answers since it was obvious Madi didn't want to talk about it.

"What dance?" Mikey asked.

"There's a Halloween dance coming up at our school and Madi hasn't been asked yet. She was all excited because she thought August was going to ask her-"

"Woah, woah, woah, wait. Who's August?" Donnie asked.

"He's a really good friend of ours that goes to our school. He's on the football team, but he's not like the other jocks. He's a sweet-heart. Madi and I call him our 'personal gentle giant'. Anyway, he talked to her when she was at her locker and she was all happy because she thought he was going to ask her, but he ended up only needing to barrow a pencil. She was so humiliated, it was awful. She's going to be the only girl NOT going to the dance at our school." April said.

"Are you going?" Leo asked her.

"Yeah, Jacob and I are going as friends." April answered. They were all silent as they tried to think of something they could do for Madi.

"When is the dance?" Mikey asked.

"Next Friday. But by now everyone already has a date." Jacob stated. They all thought again.

"What kind of dance is it?" Raph asked. "Is it a dance where everyone dresses up in suits and ties and dresses?" 

"Actually, it's a costume-type dance." April said. "I'm going as a Chinese Queen and Jacob's going as a ninja."

"Really? Awesome!" Mikey shouted.

But even as Mikey was asking questions about their choices of costumes, someone else was already planning what costume they'd wear to surprise Madi.

"Well, maybe it's best that Madi doesn't go. After all, Daniel and Karai might decide to attack there since it would be easiest. Everyone will be wearing costumes, so no one will know who anyone is."

"Which is exactly why Madi would need someone with her. Someone strong, handsome, cool.... I think we all know who I'm talking about." Raph said with a smirk, obviously referring to himself.

"Awe! Thanks Raph! It's about time you guys realized my coolness." Mikey said as he hugged his brother, then let him go and began flexing his muscles. They all rolled their eyes.

She looked in the mirror at herself, examining her reflection. Her shield-belt sat on her bed, next to the costume she would've worn to the dance. She had been saving it all year, just for this special occasion. She had thought that Daniel would've still been her boyfriend at the time, but things changed. Madi examined the outfit, a sad expression on her face, when she heard a knock on her door. She gasped and quickly stashed the dress under her bed, then answered.

"What?" she said to April, who was standing in the doorway.

"Do you still have that costume we bought from that Halloween store a few months ago?" 

"Yeah, why?" Madi asked.

"Because you're going to the dance." April said.

"I can't, I don't have a date." Madi answered.

"You can come with Jacob and I, since we're going as friends." April told her. Madi gave her a sad smile.

"Then I'd be a third-wheel all night. I'm sorry, Ape. But I'm not going." Madi said sadly, closing the door.
