Chapter Three

Madi and Mikey sat in the kitchen awkwardly as the others talked in the hallway. She knew that April was telling them about her past and why she had been so afraid of them. What else would they hve been talking about? The weather? She highly doubted that possibility. Staring at April's purse on the counter, Madi pretended to be deep in thought as the orange masked turtle examined his nunchaku.

''So, you like pizza?'' Mikey asked after a long moment of silence. Madi didn't look up as she nodded. Years ago, she would've been way more confident. But ever since the traumatic experience of her family being hunted by Shredder, she wasn't the strong tough girl she had been before. It was horrible, but it was the truth whether she liked it or not.

"Are you hungry? April said that we could order some if you were." Mikey told her. She shrugged, then took a deep breath.

"I'm actually not that hungry. But if you are, then help yourself." Madi told him, pushing April's purse across the table-top in Michelangelo's direction. You could tell just from the look in his eyes that he was definately craving some slices of pepperoni.

"I don't want to be the only one to eat, though. That would be rude." Mikey protested. He folded his big green turtle arms, turning his face away from the small bag containing the money that could buy him some food. Madi stood up, slowly walking over to the phone on the wall.

"But it wouldn't be rude if I ate a slice, and I most likely will take a bite or two. Especially if the pizza is from Antonio's." she said as she removed the phone from the answering machine. That caught the turtle's attention. He spun on his heal, quickly digging around through April's purse for her cash. Madi smiled at his eagerness and began to dial the number for Antonio's Pizza. After ordering three large pizzas with different toppings, Madi and Mikey waited for the pizza guy to get to her apartment.

"They've been talking for a long time." Mikey said as the two looked over at the door that lead to the hallway. The mutant turtle was right. Madi looked at the clock on the wall and noticed that it had been over fourty-five minutes since April had sent Madi and Mikey into the kitchen. Could telling the three other brothers her entire life-story take that long? Or were they discussing something else as well?

Before she was able to go and check on the other four, the sound of the door-bell ringing interupting her thoughts. Grabbing a few five dollar bills from April's bag, she traded off with the delivery guy and carried the delicious-smelling boxes of Italian food into the kitchen. Mikey's eyes widened at the sight of all the food and his jaw dropped.

"Pizza..." he said, his pupils large, as if he was entranced by the food in Madi's arms. Slowly, Madi placed the pizza boxes on the large kitchen table and took a step back. Lucky for her, she had done the right thing by giving the table some space because moments later in the spot she had stood less than a second later was a large mutant turtle, ripping open the pizza boxes and stuffing his face full of pepperoni and cheese.

"Woah." Madi said in awe. She had never seen anyone eat pizza faster than her before. Within seconds, the first pizza was gone and he was working on the second. Looking up from his meal, Mikey noticed that Madi was staring at him as if he had groan a second head. Setting down the slice of pepperoni pizza he had been working on, Mikey smiled sheepishly.

"Um, would you like some?" he asked embarrassedly, rubbing the back of his neck with his three-fingered hand. Madi was speechless, but then grinned and nodded. Mikey smiled back as well and tossed her a slice of pepperoni goodness. She caught it in mid-air and quickly took a bite as Mikey continued to dig in. Late-night pizza was always the best. But their happy feast was interupted moments later by the sound of the door to the hallway opening. Mikey and Madi stopped eating and looked up as the four people talking in the hall finally made an appearance after nearly an hour of conversationing.

"Holy Taledo." Donnie said, his mouth hanging open. Mikey looked like a deer caught in the headlights as his mouth hung open, a small piece of cheese hanging out and sticking to his chin. Madi, on the other hand, was just happy that she had found someone who enjoyed pizza as much as she did. April was an average pizza fan, but Mikey was more Madi's pace.

"I can't believe it." April said in shock.

"I know! I finally found someone who loves pizza as much as me!" Madi said with a huge smile, taking another bite of her slice. "Maybe even more!" April just stared. So did Leo, Raph, and Don.

"Sooo, are you guys done talking?" Mikey asked, wiping away the excess cheese. April walked around the table and sat down in a chair beside Madi. Leo and Donnie sat down in chairs as well, while Raph stood with one shoulder leaned against the wall and his arms folded, an emotionless expression on his face.

"Yeah, Mikey. We're done." April said with an exhausted 'huff'. Madi looked from turtle to turtle, making sure to skip over Raph, then looked back at April.

"So that means you all know now." Madi said. Leo and Donnie nodded, while Raph was too stubborn to reply. Madi let out a long sigh. "Look, I'm sorry that I freaked out on you guys on the roof. It's just that the whole 'Shredder' thing has kind of....well....traumatized me."

"You don't need to explain anything to us, Madi." Donnie stated kindly. "We understand now and that's all that matters." Leo and Mikey nodded in agreement, even though Mikey had no idea what on earth everyone was talking about since he had been eating pizza the entire time. And of course, Raphael didn't show any emotion what so ever.

"We're sorry that we scared you, even more now. Right Raph?" Leo said, standing up and looking at his brother with a death glare. Raphael didn't say anything, even though the entire room was watching him. After a long moment of silence, Raphael just smirked.

"Yeah, sure." he scoffed. Madi felt a small prick of pain in her chest where her heart was, but decided to ignore it. She knew that she shouldn't let this jerk get to her. He was just a snobby, stubborn, short-sided idiot that didn't care about anyone but himself. April, Donnie, Mikey, and Leo all glared at Raph while Madi just stood there, staring at the floor.

"You know what, I think I should go get some rest." Madi said after a long and awkward silence, then turned to April. "Thanks again for coming so quickly and sorting things out." After saying that, Madi looked over at Mikey. "And thanks for eating pizza with me." And with that, Madi quickly hurried out of the room and into her own.
