Chapter Nine

The three sat on the couch, Sam resting on their laps as they talked. It had been so long since the gang had been together. Daniel had been perfectly fine when he had found out that Jacob had showed up. He didn't care that he and Madi would have to put their date on hold, and apparently, neither did she. Samantha was even happy that Jake had returned, too.

Daniel, Madi, and Jacob all stood up and made their way to the kitchen to get drinks with Samantha following, her tongue hanging out of her mouth half-way as she grinned at Jake.

"So, where's April?" Jacob asked after a few minutes. "I thought that she-"

"Jakey!" The sound of April bursting through the door and sprinting into the kitchen echoed through the apartment as she jumped up, wrapping her arms around Jacob's back. They laughed as Jake turned around to hug her properly, lifting her off of her feet and spinning her around. "I missed you so much!" the red-head exclaimed, her chin resting on his big strong shoulder.

"I missed you, too, Apes." Jacob told her, using her nickname as he let her go. He looked around from April, to Daniel, and lastly to Madi. "Now the gang's all back together. I think this calls for a celebration." The other three whooped and hollered in agreement as they headed towards the door, Sam letting out a small bark to let them know that she was still there. Madi turned around , grabbed a piece of paper and a pen from the table, and kneeled, petting her dog.

"Jake, Danny, April, and I are gonna go out for a while. Make sure..." Madi trailed off as she wrote the note for her mother, then handed it to Sam. The dog carefully took the piece of paper in her mouth, cautious not to wrinkle it with her teeth. "...Make sure that when Mom gets home, she reads this. We don't want her freaking out when she sees that I'm not here." Sam nodded, then set the note on the table, making sure to keep in mind that it was there. Madi smiled. "Good girl." They started heading towards the door, when Jake stopped them.

"I'd grab a jacket, it's kind of chilly tonight." he told them.

"April and I will get some for ourselves from my bedroom. We'll meet you guys outside?" Madi asked. Daniel and Jake smiled. Then Daniel took her hand, pulled her close and pecked her cheek.

"Of course." he said to her. Madi started to blush, a goofy grin plastered across her face, while April smiled and Jacob looked at the ceiling awkwardly.

"Okay, see you guys down there, then." Madi said to them, nearly stumbling over her words as April took her hand and started dragging her towards her bedroom. The two guys left, closing the door behind them as Sam jumped up on the couch, laying down and falling asleep. April dragged her lovestruck best friend down the hall to her bedroom, then to the closet where all her jackets were. She scanned through the closet, thinking that Madi had finally come to her senses, but was proven wrong when she noticed that Madi still had that same goofy expression on her face, her cheeks red from blushing. April waved her hand in front of Madi's entranced eyes, then snapped her fingers.

"Okay, Lover-Girl, time to come back to reality." April said. Madi's eyes fluttered for a moment, blinking as her cheeks started to turn back to their normal shade and the weird smile left her face.

"Sorry, it's just that Daniel's never-"

Suddenly, they heard a knock on Madi's bedroom window. Knowing who it was, April walked across the wooden floor and opened the shades to see four sets of eyes staring back at her. Two pairs of them being blue, one being reddish-brownish, and the last one being green. April slid the window open as Madi checked the closet for cute jackets she may have bought over time. Leo was the first to jump into her room through the window.

"You said that there was an emergency, so we came to investigate." the leader said. Madi pulled a blue jean jacket out with tattered sleeves.

"How about this?" Madi asked. April shook her head.

"Too junky. Keep looking." The red-head said. Madi groaned, but turned back to the closet and continued to search for the perfect item for their outfits. The other three jumped inside, sitting down on Madi's bed.

"Seriously? This was a fashion emergency?" Raph asked in an annoyed voice. Madi glared at him from across the room and picked up one of her high-heels, throwing it at him. He let out a quick, sharp yelp of pain as the shoe hit him in the arm, leaving a small mark. Rubbing the new bruise, he glared back at her. Madi rolled her eyes and continued to search.

"Actually, one of our old friends is back in town for a few days and we're going to hang out with him and Danny." April explained. Donnie's, Leo's, Mikey's and Raph's eyes widened.

"You're hanging out with two guys? Sooo, this is like a double-date or something?" Mikey asked.

"Don't say that, otherwise April's face is going to get as red as her hair." Madi stated, her back to them as she kept looking through her closet. After what Madi had said, April's face definately began to blush, the pail skin turning crimson.

"Madi! It's not a double-date!" April exclaimed. Madi pulled out two jackets, both of them hoodies, one being red and the other orange. April nodded her approval, pointing to the orange one. Madi tossed her the orange hoodie and pulled the red one over her own shirt.

"I like the red one." Raph stated, his arms folded. Everyone's eyes widened and their jaws dropped  at the fact that Raph had finally paid Madi a compliment. They were all speechless as Raph looked at them strangely, his eye-ridge raised slightly. "What? Did I grow a second head or something?" he asked, wondering what the big deal was.

"Dude, you actually said something nice to Madster." Mikey said in awe.

"What? I can be a nice guy sometimes." Raphael said in his defense. There was a short awkward silence after that as April pulled on her orange hoodie, then grabbed Madi's wrist.

"Come on, we don't want the guys waiting." April said as she started to drag Madi out of the room. "You can just let yourself out, guys! See ya' tomorrow!" Madi turned her head around to face the guys as April pulled her out, still shocked about what Raph had said. But before Madi could be yanked out completely to hang out with the other guys, she said one thing that made a small smile appear on Raph's face, if only for a second.

"Thanks, Raph!"

Then she closed the door, leaving the four in her bedroom.

Once the four knew that the girls were out of hearing range, Mikey spoke up.

"We're totally going to spy on them, right?" the orange-masked turtle asked. Donnie chuckled as they all began to climb out of the window and back onto the fire escape.

"Of course we are, Mikey. You actually thought we wouldn't?"
