Chapter Eight
The TV in her bedroom blared the sound of Space Heroes as Madi got her apartment ready. After putting the throw-pillows back on the couch in the living-room, vacuuming the carpet, washing the dishes in the sink and putting them away in the cupboard, and picking out three movies to choose from later, she finally took a deep breath and began to get herself ready. She still hadn't changed her dirty, smelly, gross clothes from the food-fight. Taking a deep breath, she looked at the clock.
5:45 P.M.
Daniel would be there in a little over an hour, giving her some time to take a quick shower, pick an outfit, do her make-up, and start popping some popcorn. She tossed the bag of popcorn into the microwave and pressed the 'start' button, then made a quick dash for the shower in her bathroom inside of her bedroom.
Ten mintues later, she was all clean and stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around herself and heading out of the bathroom back into her bedroom. Madi stood before her closet, searching for the perfect outfit. Watching Space Heroes as she got dressed, she pulled on her favorite jeans, a red t-shirt, then appiled her favorite red chapstick. Then, she took Sam into the dog's own seperate bedroom and shut the door, keeping the dog inside during the date.
Madi knew that her hair was wet, even after she had attempted to dry it with a towel, but she figured Daniel wouldn't care. He might even think it's hot. She turned her TV off, walked out of her bedroom, and looked at the clock again.
6:50 P.M.
Ten minutes until Daniel would arrive. Madi quickly walked into the kitchen and pulled out the popcorn from the microwave, opening it and dumping it into a new clean bowl from the cupboard, then taking it into the living room and setting it of the coffee table in front of her couch. Looking around, a small smile on her face, she was proud of her work of cleaning the apartment and getting ready for her date.
But, just as she got the idea of getting drinks, the doorbell rang. Madi looked at the clock again.
6:51 P.M.
Daniel was nine minutes early. Madi raised an eyebrow as she headed towards the apartment door. He was never early, if anything, he was usually late. She stood up on her tip-toes, peeking through the peek-hole at who was at the door. Her eyes widened as she realized that the person outside her door wasn't her boyfriend. Instead, standing in the hallway of the apartment complex was a man in a long trench coat and hat that hid his face.
Slowly grabbing her spare pistol from underneath the coffee table, she walked back to the door, hiding it behind her back. The door was opened only a few inches, not even a foot, as she peered at the stranger before her.
"May I help you?" she asked him.
"No, sweet thang, I think I can help you." the man said. Madi kept a tight grip on her gun as the man started to laugh. But, gradually, she began to recognize the voice. It wasn't a man at all, it was a teenager.
A huge grin appeared on her lips as she pulled the door open all the way, jumping up and wrapping the guy in a huge hug, wrapping her legs around his waist. His hat fell off as he hugged her back, his arms around her back.
"Jake! You're back! I thought you were living in Chicago!" Madi exclaimed, happy to see him again.
Jacob Matthews had been Madi's best guy friend ever since she had moved to New York from Japan. They had met on the first day of school at lunch time when Madi had been eating alone. A few years later, he had admitted that the only reason he had even talked to her was because he had thought she was cute. But they had only been friends. He had dark messy hair that hung just below his ears, an adorable smile, and the most handsome green eyes in the history of eyes.
"Surprise!" Jacob said happily as he gently set Madi down on the floor. "I missed you so much that I just had to visit. Spring break started yesterday, so I figured that I'd spend a few days up here in NYC with my friends."
"That's great, Jake. Daniel is actually going to be here soon. He's going to be over-joyed to see you again." Madi told him, taking his hand and leading him into her apartment. After closing the door behind them, Madi looked at the clock.
7:03 P.M.
"And of course he's late, just like usual." Madi said with a huff as she sat down on the couch beside Jake. He just smirked and rolled his eyes as he took off his trench coat and hat, then set them on the coffee table beside the bowl of popcorn.
"Just like old times." Jacob said, causing both of them to laugh.

April sat on the couch, watching TV with the guys. It was that weird anime-type show that they loved to watch for some strange reason. But since April didn't live in the lair with them, she decided to let them have control over the remote.
That was when her phone beeped.
At first, the guys paid no mind to it as she checked he text message on her cell.
Madi: Guess who just walked into my apartment!
April sighed as she replied.
April: Daniel?
She continued to watch the show, until another moment later, she got a reply.
Madi: 3 words. Jake. Is. Back.
April's jaw dropped as she read and re-read the text message. Jake was back. Jacob Matthews, the most attractive guy that had ever stepped into their school, was back. The red-head quickly jumped up from her seat on the couch, texting furiously as she made a run for the exit.
April: I'll be right over.
"April!" she heard someone shout behind her. She turned around and saw that the guys were all staring, worried expressions on their faces. Leo spoke. "Where are you going?"
"Um," she started. "Big emergency at Madi's place. Be right back." and with that, she sprinted out of the lair, leaving the four turtles confused and perplexed.
