okay so someone asked for my like actual proof klance is coded and not just "they would look good together"

first im going to start off with their sexualities.

i think keith is gay coded and lance is bi coded as well. lance more then keith, but their are still moments in the series.

example, when lance is hitting on a girl alien, he leans in to look cooler. this is a pretty common way to look attractive to someone.

keith does this to a boy alien, and also (blink and you miss it) very quickly checks him out.

everything in animation is added for a reason. like why would you add keith checking out someone and then having it have no significance to the story?

every animation takes time, so adding something that has no significance doesn't make sense.

another example is keith and allura. in the old show, keith and allura are dating and extremely attracted to each other. so a lot of people were worried this was going to happen on the show.

yeah the OPPOSITE happened.

keith very clearly has NO feelings for allura. when he cradles her in his arms his face looks indifferent, and it's never brought up again. but when keith cradles lance, he makes a pretty big deal out of it and is very hurt when lance denies it happened.

note keith's face. in different shows, doesn't this seem like literally the PERFECT set up for a couple? but it can be shown pretty clearly keith doesn't care. and in the last one, he looks even uncomfortable.

next for the bi coding of lance.

lance has a lot of scenes where the bi pride flag colours are behind him. you may think this is just bc the colours are pretty, but background colours are very important in cartoons.

in the legend of korra, another series the creators of voltron worked on, korra and asami share an intimate moment m. and the background colours are the bi flag.

korra and asami are two CANON bisexual characters who are dating. unfortunately, because it was 2014 the show runners could not let korra and asami kiss on y-7 television.

luckily, in the comics, they did share a canon kiss.

also, the actor that plays lance has dropped some extremely ambiguous comments about lance's sexuality.

notice how he says "i can say that much"? if lance only liked girls, why would he have to say that? i personally think this is what proves lance is bi the most.

it just doesn't make sense if lance is straight for the actor to say that comment.

the creators have been very clear there is an lgbt character in voltron. they are also very discreet about it. so, it makes sense one of the main characters it it.

in agents of shield, when they were making a gay side hero, there was publicity EVERYWHERE. it was a very big deal. they hyped up the side characters sexuality a lot.

but with voltron, they are quiet about. extremely quiet to the point you may not even know of how they said their will be an lgbt character unless you are a big fan. 

okay, one more thing for bi coded lance. the creators dropped this like a year ago.

for the "race" sign, keith looks nervous, while hunk is smiling and has his hand on keith's shoulder. this was before keith was revealed to be half galra. hence, the "race" sign. and who helped him through it? hunk.

now for the "gender" sign, pidge looks very nervous while allura is basically hugging pidge. pidge was revealed to be a girl, and had pretended to be a boy for a few episodes. (i personally see pidge as nonbinary so i'll use they/them). allura was the first person to know pidge wasn't a boy like they had said.

now for the "lgbt". it's pretty clear on this one lance is the nervous one. shiro is smiling, and has his hand on lance's shoulder. so it can be said lance will have a bi arc, and shiro will help him through it.

remember, this dropped BEFORE keith's race was revealed. so this little hint of an lgbt arc, just like there was a race arc, makes sense.

okay now that it's pretty straightforward they're both coded, im going to get to the coding for their romantic feelings for each other.

in the old show as i said, keith and allura dated. this is an expression the old keith made to allura, HIS GIRLFRIEND, and an expression the new keith made to LANCE.

they are exactly the same.

this expression, "lowered eyebrows and a soft smile" is used throughout the series to show love.

lance has a crush on allura, and the same face keith made to him is the one he made to allura. the girl he likes.

they are the exact same expression?? smells pretty gay already but there's more

this is lance's face when he was talking about the other paladians to the prisoner.

this is his face when he's talking about keith. his facial expression is not this face for any other paladian.

it's the same face he made when he was hitting on a girl.

the creators of the show have said this about the lance and keith ship.

"shipping them is continuing that evolution and it's natural progression" yah that's code for this ship is natural, and as it goes on, they will develop more serious feelings for each other.

let's not forget the creators of this show made a lot of history with two canon bi girls on a show aimed at children. so lgbt characters in voltron? even if it wasn't confirmed, it would be extremely likely.
