7. Go Home

He had finished working on the chapter of Cold Shoulder, and now was aiding Draven at attempting to produce a new cover for Midnight Ravens. They had taken a break, Draven having changed his clothes since he was tired of being dressed in a tight dress-shirt; and a hood covered his block hair. He had handed Eric one of his spare sweater, told him to undress from his dress shirt as well, and when Eric attempted to exit his office in order to change, Draven commented, "You don't have to leave to change, we're all guys here."

Hence why, he felt a bit discomfort, but Draven didn't even glance in his direction once, turning the pages of the other chapters he has ready to be edited.

"Thank you," Eric said.

It was past midnight; they had been working insanely long on this cover, but it was not yet ready. All the features from the colouring to the images to the design to the characters shown, needed to be changed, in Draven's opinion. And it was hard to reach an ideal cover, but it needed to be done by tomorrow morning.

Suddenly, they heard footsteps on the floor, and Draven was the first to exit his office, examining whom had shown up. Justin frowned when he did not spot Eric anywhere, and when he met Draven's gaze, his palms in his pockets, he asked politely, "Do you have an idea of where Eric is? He's not home."

"He's in my off—"

"Justin," Eric approached him, stepping around Draven and forgetting he was present. They had not spoken ever since their kiss, and although he was somewhat nervous, Justin always made him feel comfortable; they were best friends.

Justin smiled when he saw Eric, and said, "I wanted to see you. We haven't talk since the other night."

He pointed behind me, "Draven asked me to stay overnight to work on his cover."

"That's fine," surprisingly, he leaned in, placed his lips on Eric's forehead, to which Draven raised his eyebrows. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay," he nodded his head, the warmth from his forehead spreading across his body, "what about you?"

"I'm fine, work was long today but I can manage. You want me to bring you something?"

Eric shook his head, "No, we ordered food and it's on its way."

"I can stay with you guys, give some company—"

"The work is confidential to my editors and I," Draven inserted himself from behind them, which they had forgotten he was present, "I can't have anybody leaking my stuff."

Justin nodded his head, returning his eyes to Eric, "Alright, I understand." Eric yawned, and Justin raised an eyebrow, "Tired?"

"Yea," he was finishing up his yawn, "we've been at it ever since five p.m."

"I can only imagine," Justin checked his watch, "anyways I should get going. I don't want to take away precious time from you all."

Eric leaned forward, whispering, "We haven't talked about the other night yet." He seemed a bit nervous to ask that, but when Justin smirked, leaned in and placed his lips gently on Eric's, letting his lips guide Eric's hormones into havoc. It was only for a short moment, enough for Eric to feel how tender and soft the lips were. It was better than when he was drunk, and he instinctively placed his palm on the back of Justin's neck, pulling him tighter.

Justin was the first to pull away when he had heard Draven clear his throat: Eric had not. He glanced towards Draven who seemed annoyed, and returned his eyes to Eric with one last little peck on the lips before taking a few steps back, "I'll come by tomorrow."

"Okay," Eric replied, seeing Justin enter the elevator and descend from the floor.

Eric was stuck in his emotions for a moment, before Draven behind him said, "Boyfriend?"

"I'm not sure."

Draven scoffed, and returned to his office, sitting on the other side of the desk and said, "Go home." His haze had suddenly turned cold, very dry as well, as if there was something he was bothered by.

Eric frowned, turning around and entering the office; Draven was staring at the booklet of Cold Shoulder Eric had edited, "But were not done the cover—"

"It doesn't matter," he hissed, "go home."

"We have food on the way."

"I'll eat it myself," Draven raised his eyes, meeting Eric's gaze.

Eric shook his head, "I want to help you—"

"And I'm your boss, and I'm telling you to go home."

Eric paused for a moment, seeing Draven's blue eyes flaming with the rage from earlier before he scoffed and returning them to the booklet. He was confused whether it was a trick, and if he walked out, he would get fired.

Hence why, he plopped down on the seat, "Is this some sort of trick to see if I'll really leave?"

"No," Draven growled, "it's not. You need to leave, besides you have more important priorities, I see."

Eric frowned, "You're mad because Justin showed up?"

Draven rolled his eyes, "Do I have my loved one coming in and making out with me in front of you guys?"

"I didn't ask him to come—"

"Just leave," Draven exclaimed.

Eric bit his bottom lip, but slowly stood from his seat. He paused for a moment, before sighing, "Look, I'm sorry. It won't happen again boss. I will go."

Justin had still been in his vehicle, moments from leaving when he saw Eric exit the building as well. He drove his car around to pick him up at the front, since the bus routes were closed therefore he would have walked all the way to his appartement. When Eric realized it was him, he climbed in the vehicle.

"I thought you were staying overnight."

"I thought I was too," Eric said weirdly, a confused expression on his face, "he was bothered after you left."

"Was it because I showed up?" Justin asked.

Eric shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know."

"Well," Justin leaned over the cupholders, "at least we get to spend the night together."

He turned to face him, and smiled, "You're right."

Justin spent the night at Eric's, Melissa opening the door for them and not surprised when she watched Justin follow Eric to his bedroom. However, throughout the night, Eric shuffled in his blankets, wondering what occurred during his overnight stay at the agency; why had Draven suddenly gotten angry?
