Chapter Two.

Chapter Two.

The sun woke me up as it streamed through the curtains.
I yawned and stretched, sitting up in my bed.
I looked around the room, taking in my surroundings. I felt very at home here.
I decided to get up and go downstairs to see if anyone was awake.
I got to the door and noticed some clothes and a note on the table next to it.
'I got you some of my girlfriend's clothes to wear, since it doesn't seem like you have any. I hope these are okay. Stefan.'
'How sweet.' I thought.
I changed into the white blouse, skinny jeans and leather jacket, pairing them with my military style boots, then went downstairs.
Damon was in the kitchen making pancakes, so I went to go and join him.
"Those smell good." I said, inhaling deeply.
"Oh. Yeah, a witch friend of mine and Stefan's is coming over soon. Me and her have this little tradition thing with me making pancakes." He replied, not really making eye contact.
"Oh, cool. Where's Stefan?" I asked.
"He's gone to get more blood from another friend of ours. He'll be back soon."
I just nodded and sat at the island.
"There's fresh coffee there if you want some." Damon pointed.
"Ugh, yes. You're a lifesaver." I breathed, reaching for the coffee pot.
Damon went to the fridge as I poured and passed me a small jug.
"Creamer if you want it and sugar's right there." He told me, pointing next to the coffee filter.
"Thanks." I smiled.
I added the creamer and sugar, stirred and took a sip.
"Expensive coffee taste as well, I see." I chuckled.
"What can I say? I like the finer things in life." Damon huffed, seeming fed up of me trying to be friendly.
"Have I done something to upset you or what?" I asked, almost slamming my coffee down.
Just as he was about to answer, the front door opened.
"Damon! It's me!" A female voice called.
"In the kitchen!" Damon loudly replied.
A short moment later, a dark skinned girl appeared, smiling her face off, but that soon disappeared when she saw me.
"Who's this?" She asked.
"This is Alexandra. It's a long story." Damon replied, dishing up the pancakes.
"I'd hardly say it's a long story. I'm the girl who sired Rose, who sired Katherine, who sired Damon and Stefan. I thought I'd connect with my bloodline." I explained.
"But I thought Klaus-"
"Yeah, so did we. Turns out Alex here can compel vampires. She likes to be a secret. Klaus sired her. She's the missing link no one knew about." Damon interrupted.
"Oh. Okay. Well, I'm Bonnie Bennett." She smiled, offering me her hand, which I shook.
"A Bennett witch, huh? Damon didn't mention your family name." I smirked.
"Why would I?" Damon snapped, practically throwing a plate of pancakes in my direction.
"I don't know... I'm sorry if I offended." I was taken aback by his sudden outburst.
"Whatever. C'mon BonBon. We'll eat these in the living room." He said, vacating the room as quick as possible with the two remaining plates of pancakes.
"What's got him riled?" Bonnie asked me.
"I honestly have no idea... I've done nothing to him." I shrugged.
"I'll get it out of him. I always do." She smirked. "I'll talk to you later."
I nodded as she left.

I was alone in the kitchen drinking my coffee and I was growing increasingly bored.
So I decided to listen in on Damon and Bonnie.
I pulled my short white hair out of the way of my ear and listened carefully.
"I just have a bad feeling. She turns up out of nowhere and she's got Stefan wrapped around her little finger. He gave her a damn tour of the house. He didn't even do that for Elena." Damon huffed.
"So this is a jealousy thing." Bonnie sort of stated.
Damon scoffed. "Jealous of who?"
Nothing was said, she must've given him a look or something, but that still left me confused.
"She's beautiful." Bonnie pointed out. "And she's got Stefan's undivided attention."
"So?" Damon huffed. "Stefan wouldn't cheat on Caroline."
"Not what I'm saying. I know he wouldn't. I'm just saying he's the one who always gets the attention. Katherine, Rebekah, Lexi, Elena, Caroline, even me to start with. It's like you're just expecting it now and aren't doing anything to change that." Bonnie said.
"Can we just not? I don't wanna hear it."
"I know you don't, Damon. But she seems nice and that's me saying that. You should give her a chance."
"If I do, will you drop this?" He asked.
"Course." I heard the grin in her voice.
"Fine."
I heard him get up and gather the plates, then come towards the kitchen.
I hid my ear behind my hair again and sipped my coffee.
"Are you done with that?" Damon asked me, beckoning to my now empty plate.
"Yes, thank you." I smiled.
He nodded and took the plates to the dishwasher.
"Wanna join me and BonBon for a mid-morning party?" He asked.
I laughed at the outrageousness of his offer.
"Mid-morning party?" I smirked, raising my eyebrow.
"It's the little things." He shrugged, chuckling.
"I thought it was the finer things..."
"Those too. Joining us?" He repeated.
I nodded, finishing the last little bit of coffee.
"I need blood first though. Human food isn't cutting it." I said, getting up from the island stool.
"I like your thinking, girlie." He winked. "Go keep Bonnie company, I'll go get some bags."
I nodded and walked to the living room.
"Thanks for talking to him. You have quite the hold on him, it seems." I chuckled.
"He knows it's wise to listen to me." Bonnie breathed a laugh.
A few moments later, Damon walked in with two blood bags, handing one to me.
"Thank you." I smiled.
"You're welcome."
We drank and chose some music before turning to the Bourbon. Damon swung around, decanter in hand and gave his smirk.
"Let's party."
We laughed and clinked glasses (Or decanter in Damon's case) and danced the mid-morning away.

A few hours later, Stefan returned.
He glanced at us dancing to the music, Damon's shirt unbuttoned as he swivelled his hips to the beat of the song, Bonnie's hair rather messy as she dragged her hands through it, swaying to the music with Damon's hips.
And I was leather jacket off, swivelling it round over my head, glass in hand, cheering and laughing at the pair in front of me.
Stefan cleared his throat and everyone stopped dancing.
"Brother! Come! Pour yourself a drink and party the day away with us!" Damon cried, earning himself a celebratory cheer from Bonnie and I.
"Uh, no... Thanks." Stefan raised his eyebrow before disappearing upstairs.
"Spoil sport..." I grumbled.
We carried on with our day party for a good other hour before the doorbell rang.

"Who the Hell is that?" Damon asked, turning off the music.
"Answer it and find out." Bonnie said in a 'duh' tone.
Damon stumbled his way out of the room before tripping on the edge of the couch and falling.
He groaned.
Bonnie and I chuckled to each other.
"I'll get it." I laughed.
I trotted my way to the door and opened it, revealing an olive-skinned girl with long, dark brown hair. She looked exactly like...
"Oh. Hi. Is... Stefan in?" The girl asked.
"Katherine?" I asked, dumbfounded.
"No... I'm Elena." She said.
"The doppelganger..." I gasped, coming to the realisation.
Elena all but rolled her eyes.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"I'm Alex. Just part of the bloodline." I chuckled.
"What does that mean?"
"Long story. I'm sure Stefan will explain it. He's upstairs." I said, letting her pass.

"You've met Elena, then." Damon said, eventually getting up from the floor.
"Indeed. I thought she was dead." I shrugged.
"Where did you hear that?" Bonnie asked.
"Niklaus." I replied, nonchalantly.
"Wait... You've been in touch with Klaus recently and you didn't think to tell us?" Damon sounded a little angry.
"Why is it important?" I asked.
"Because he tried to use Elena as a walking, talking endless supply of blood, not so long ago. And murdered her aunt." Bonnie explained.
"Oh... He must've missed that bit out when he told me about this place." I replied, truthfully, yet nervously.
"So we're not on the best of terms with that particular Mikaelson. Or any, come to think of it." Damon stated.
"Note taken." I sighed.

Hours later, Bonnie had gone home and Stefan had taken Elena back to her house.
Damon and I sat on opposite couches, Bourbon in hand, glancing at each other occasionally.
"Okay. Question time." Damon sighed, sitting up from his slouched position.
I sat forward too, intrigued by his notion.
"Why are you actually here?" Damon asked.
"Sarcastic or real answer?" I pressed.
"Both. Sarcastic first." He answered, smirking.
"I was bored."
"Real?" Damon raised an eyebrow.
"I was lonely." I sighed.
Damon sat back in his seat.
"Forever's a long time. Even longer when you're alone."
Damon gave an emotionless chuckle and nodded once.
"You got that right, girlie." He said.
"You have no idea, Salvatore. I've spent the better part of 957 years wondering the world all by myself." I growled. "I had to teach myself to control my thirst, to blend in with my surroundings, the vamp speed, compulsion. Do you know how long I was telling people what to do before I actually found out why they were obeying my every word?"
Damon looked at me through his eyelashes, swirling his Bourbon around in it's glass.
"I was perfectly happy with just dying after I found out what I was going to become. But no. Stefan forced me to feed. I used to despise him. But I'm sort of over that now." Damon shrugged, sipping his drink.
I just nodded. There wasn't much else to say.
"When I'd finally figured out how the whole vampire thing worked, I took it upon myself to go and find Niklaus – make him explain himself to me. But by the time I reached where he was staying, he was already long gone. It was nearly five hundred years before I saw him again. And you know what he had to say to me? He turned me because he was bored. Can you imagine that?" I scoffed.
Damon gave himself an odd look, and it took me a moment to figure out what that look meant.
"You've done that, too. Haven't you?"
Damon nodded.
"A few years ago. I hadn't long come back to Mystic Falls with the plans to ruin my brother's new life. So out of boredom and kind of revenge, I turned Elena's exboyfriend's sister, Vicki. She lasted only a few hours before we had to kill her. She was too out of control. Almost killed Elena and her brother, Jeremy." He chuckled humourlessly. "But I'm not like that anymore. Elena saw to that. I kinda fell for her. I wanted to change my ways for her, thinking maybe, just maybe I could win her over. She broke up with Stefan, we kissed, she got back with Stefan. And I healed my broken heart. I'm over her now. She's happy with him and I'm happy with that."
I nodded again.
"Do you regret changing for her knowing it was all for nothing?"
"No. I know it's made me a better person. Plus, I now have Bonnie as my best friend. That would never have happened if I didn't change. She hated me for the first few years. I don't blame her." He replied.
I took a sip from my drink, taking all of this in.
"Do you 'like' Bonnie?" I asked, using air quotes.
Damon chuckled. "No, not like that. She's been there for me and I've been there for her. We make a good team."
I smiled at that. He was a decent person, after all.
"I know it was her who told you to play nice with me. She said she would."
Damon looked up at me and gave an innocent smirk.
"Yeah, I know. I heard you. And I'm assuming you heard us talking in here, too. She's extremely good at reading people and she seems to be getting good vibes off of you, so I thought 'why not'? And sitting here now, I'm not regretting that decision. I think we've had a nice heart to heart." He smiled.
I nodded, getting up to go and sit next to him.
"We may have only known each other a day, but I think our futures have more in store for us, and I, for one, am very eager to stick around for that."
Damon nodded. "Me too. Stay here as long as you like."
I gave him a warm smile and finished my Bourbon as he finished his.
"Another?" I asked.
"Always." He chuckled, handing me his glass.
