Chapter Seven.

Once Damon and I were downstairs, Stefan and Caroline sat up.
"Are you guys okay?" Caroline asked.
"Alex got a splinter stuck in her leg, but I got it." Damon shrugged.
I walked over to the coffee table and picked up the blood bag I'd left there before Damon and I went upstairs.
I ripped it open and proceeded to drink it, feeling the chilled liquid coat my throat.
"I don't suppose Kai told you where he went, did he?" I chuckled humourlessly.
"I think so, actually." Stefan raised his eyebrow.
Damon and I gave him a questioning look, egging him on to continue.
"He said he'd meet us at the last place we pissed him off."
"Well how are we supposed to figure that one out? All of his bad mojo just rolls its way into one big ball of crappy events." Damon huffed.
"We were at the high school." Bonnie said. "Me and him were at the high school in a prison world set in the future."
"Well let's go then." Damon replied in his 'duh' tone.

When we got to the school, it was totally dark, but we tried to form some sort of plan.
"There's enough of us to surround him." Niklaus suggested. "He can't stop all of us."
"True, but that could run the risk of someone getting killed." Stefan countered.
"So could waking up in the morning." Bonnie argued.
Everyone kind of agreed with that.
"Fine. We go with Klaus' plan." Stefan huffed. "Swarm him, grab the Ascendant, send him back to Hell."
Everyone agreed once again.
"To cover all entrances, we'd need to pair up." Bonnie said. I say I'll go with Klaus and take the front, Caroline and Stefan take the sports door, Alex and Damon take the back."
Damon and I glanced at each other, awkwardly.
"Maybe I should go with Niklaus. I know him better, after all." I suggested.
"No, it's okay. Hopefully I can trust him." Bonnie gave a sarcastic smile to the Original, who gave her one right back.
I just sighed.

Everyone else went their separate ways, whereas Damon and I just stood there for a moment, the air feeling very awkward.
"It's not that easy to get rid of me. Believe me, people have tried." Damon winked.
"Ugh, come on." I huffed, going to our designated door round the back of the school.

Inside was almost pitch black, besides a few safety lights.
Damon and I grabbed our flashlights, turning them on.
"So where exactly is the trophy cabinet?" I asked.
"This way." Damon said.
We walked for a couple of minutes before Damon piped up.
"So why did you run from me earlier? And why are you now trying to avoid me?" He asked.
I sighed.
"Do we have to talk about this now?"
"Well considering there's a moderate chance that at least one of us might die in a matter of minutes, yeah, I think now's the perfect time." Damon said, half sarcastically.
"Because I don't know what's going on with my head right now." I snapped.
"If it helps, neither do I. That... Thing that went on between us earlier kinda shook me up." Damon replied.
I sighed again and continued to walk, shining my flashlight down our path.

A couple more minutes and a couple more turns later, we started to hear talking, so turned off our flashlights.
"If your plan was to kill Damon first, why did you take me and not him?" Elena's voice came.
I was about to turn another corner when Damon pulled me to the side, almost making me hit my head on the wall behind me.
He practically pinned me to said wall and held his finger to his lips.
I just stared at him, his face so close to mine, seeing in the dim light how soft his lips looked and the concerned look in those icy blue eyes.
"Because Damon isn't as easy to carry as you are." Kai replied. "Plans change according to the cards you're dealt."
"Kai!" Bonnie's voice shouted. "Let Elena go!"
"Ah, Bonster! Come to join the party, have we?" You could hear the smirk dripping from Kai's lips. "Oh and you've brought friends! I hope someone brought Jello Shots. "
"I'm not saying it again, Kai. Let. Her. Go." Bonnie growled.
I shook Damon from me and made my way round the corner.
"Ah, Alexandra! You've come along too. I know it must be hard being the new kid in town." Kai gave a playful smile.
"Awe, I'm flattered. You've gone to all this effort just to learn my name." I frained happiness.
"Not quite, just an added bonus." Kai winked, making me grimace.
"Guys." Caroline warned, clearly meaning it was now or never for the attack.
All of the Vampires vamp sped to Kai, beating him to the ground.
Stefan and Damon had him pinned.
"Klaus, bite him again for me, would ya?" Bonnie scowled at the Heretic.
"With pleasure, love." He replied, turning back to Kai with a vicious look in his eye.
In Vamp speed, Niklaus bit Kai right where his old wound was, Kai let out an almighty scream.
Damon retrieved the Ascendant from Kai's jacket pocket and placed it on his chest.
"Bonnie, it's now or never." Stefan said, starting to struggle to hold Kai.
Bonnie closed her eyes and chanted a spell, magical wind flying everywhere, almost blowing us over.
"No, Bonster! Come on, I was only playing with you! Come on, you gotta help me!" Kai whaled.
Bonnie paused her chanting.
"My name is Bonnie." She growled.
A few more chants and a huge flash of light later, Kai and the Ascendant were gone.
"Good luck finding a Celestial Event in that one, ass." Bonnie muttered before falling to the ground, unconscious.
