Chapter Five.

After getting some sleep, finally, we'd discovered that Stefan and Caroline had returned with the twins' blood.
The backup plan was set... Sort of.
Bonnie was on her way over to perform the spell to make the new Ascendant and Elena was bringing the pieces of the one that was destroyed.
Niklaus had come back to the house hours ago, only waking Damon, much to his disgust.
I got dressed into the clothes I originally came to Mystic Falls in; my black tank, grey, oversized, off-the-shoulder sweater, skinny jeans and military style boots, then went downstairs.

Once everyone was gathered back in the den, Bonnie prepared herself.
"I don't know about this, guys..." She sighed.
"You've got to do it, BonBon. It may just be the thing that saves us." Damon told her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"You know the other two times an Ascendant was made, there was a whole coven of witches to do this spell, right?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Bonnie, you don't need a coven. You're powerful enough on your own." Elena smiled, reassuringly.
"Girl, you're a big, bad, Bennett witch. You brought people – and yourself – back from Hell itself. You can do anything." Caroline smirked, causing everyone to chuckle.
Bonnie gave her a small smile before taking a deep breath and closing her eyes.
Damon took a few steps back, standing next to Niklaus and I whilst Elena gave Bonnie the pieces of the Ascendant.
Bonnie started whispering a spell, chanting it.
The candles in the room went berserk and a gust of wind seemed to come out of nowhere.
Bonnie chanted louder and the pieces of Ascendant seemed to form together, merging with each other.
"The blood." Bonnie paused her chant, looking to Caroline.
Caroline poured the blood from the vial that contained it, onto the newly formed Ascendant.
The blood flowed into the cracks of the device and solidified, almost like casting the metal.
The witch continued to chant, louder and louder until a flash came from the device in her hands and a shockwave blew through all of us.
The room dimmed to it's original light and Bonnie fell to the floor, unconscious.
"Bonnie!" Damon seethed; vamp speeding to her side to catch her.
He placed her down on the couch, all of us looking between each other with concern.

Within twenty minutes, she gasped and shot up.
"Are you okay?" Elena shrieked, vamping to her best friend's side.
She grabbed Bonnie's hand, worry dripping from features.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Bonnie whispered, her voice awfully raspy.
Everyone took a deep sigh of relief.
"We've gotta get going. Kai's going to expect me at the Grill soon." The Witch sighed.
She got up from the couch, stumbling a bit, but having Elena and Damon there to catch and steady her.
"I'm okay." She repeated.

Whilst Bonnie took her car, Elena, Damon, Niklaus and I took Damon's car and Stefan and Caroline took Stefan's car.
We waited in the cars parked round the block from the Grill until Bonnie sent a text telling us to send Niklaus in.
The text came fifteen minutes later and we all got out of the vehicles.
"Go in, bite him, grab him. Easy peasy." Niklaus grinned, clapping his hands together in anticipation.
"If that fails, Bonnie's got the Ascendant and she'll do the spell, then we're going to have to compel the whole bar to forget what they saw." I clarified.
"Let's hope it doesn't get to that option." Stefan sighed.

As soon as we heard the anticipated glass smash and wood-on-wood crash, we ran into the bar.
Bonnie was stood back and Niklaus had hold of Kai, a bite mark clear and bleeding on Kai's neck.
He'd got him.

We got Kai back to the house in Stefan's car, Niklaus sitting with him to make sure he didn't do anything stupid.
We got him in the dungeon, locking him in.
Damon and I went to go interrogate him.
"Look, it's easy. You tell us what you're doing back in Mystic Falls and why you felt the need to hurt Elena, we'll put you back in your prison world using this beauty and all is right with the world, once again." Damon said to him, sarcastically nonchalant as he held the Ascendant in Kai's view.
"And if I don't?" Kai smirked.
"Then you go in there anyway." I shrugged.
"Sorry, who are you?" The Heretic asked.
"Someone who's not up for small talk. Now tell us why you're here." I scowled.
"Ooh... Not a foreplay kinda girl, are ya?" Kai gritted his teeth in a sarcastic 'oh dear' kind of way.
"Enough." Damon snapped. I could see him tense up. "What the Hell do you want?"
"Jeez you guys are on edge. Ya know pot is pretty good for blood cravings as well as taking the edge off? It's been a lifesaver." Kai chuckled.
"I don't care about pot. Why are you here? Don't make me ask again." Damon growled, vamp speeding through the door, grabbing Kai by the neck, grinding his fingernails into his bite wound.
"Damon, if you carry on, he's not going to be strong enough to tell us anything." I pointed out.
Damon huffed, aggressively releasing him.
He left the cell and locked the door again.
Kai stood there, holding his wound, a blank, vacant expression on his face before falling to the ground.
"Ouch." He croaked.
"It's only going to get worse if you don't answer us." I told him.
"But where's the fun in that?" Kai smirked through his pain.
I sighed, pacing in circles.
"Think about your deal. I tell you, then I get healed and go to the prison world. If I don't, I don't get healed and get put in the prison world. You see where this plan kinda sucks a little bit?" He asked.
"Difference is, if you go the prison world unhealed, you'll not only be in your own personal Hell, you'll be in excruciating pain and dying for eternity." I countered.
"I hadn't thought of that... Good job, weird accent girl." Kai looked confused, but still managed to make it look sarcastic. "Still don't think I'm gunna tell you though."
"Why come all this way, knowing full well that we'd retaliate to your Elena stunt, for you not to tell us what exactly you're doing here?" Damon asked.
"Well I wasn't expecting to be dying so soon..." Kai shrugged, rolling onto his side, still gripping his wound.
"Well now you are, you'd better spit it out." I glared.
"Fine. I wanted to kill all of your friends. Starting with Damon, ending with Bonnie." He said.
Damon and I glanced at each other with confused expressions.
"That can't be it." Damon scoffed. "There has to be more to it than that."
"Only that the Elena thing was to spice it up a bit. I wanted some fun in the meantime." Kai chuckled before wincing at his neck.
"Spiced up enough for you?" I smirked.
"Plenty, thanks." He spat.
"I'm going to go get Niklaus and Bonnie." I huffed to Damon before walking off.
I walked back upstairs and tried to control my mood.
"He wanted to kill all of you. Out of spite for Bonnie. Niklaus, Bonnie, come with me." I glared at the floor, still overwhelmingly pissed off.
We went back down to the cell where Damon gave Bonnie the Ascendant.
"Bonster... Come on." He breathed a humourless chuckle.
"My name is Bonnie." The Witch spat.
I let Niklaus in the cell to give Kai his blood.
He bit his wrist and put it to Kai, who didn't need telling twice to drink.
Within moments, Kai's neck was healed.
Then his hand started to glow red and Niklaus became rather pale.
"He's siphoning Klaus' Vampire magic." Damon gasped, running into the cell.
He dragged Niklaus' desiccating body out of the cell and locked it again.
But it was too late. A small explosion made the door fly off it's hinges.
Then it all went black...
