Jiang had once promised his father, General Lei that he did take the fall if such a situation arises, where his identity was found out and will result in the annihilation of nine innocent generations of the general's family. Jiang was a person who took promises seriously moreover he had a decision to not be a sacrificial lamb for the General's manor going forward, he hopes that with this all Karma he has with them will be completely severed and if he was to die and reincarnate let them be complete strangers in their next life.

Chapter 73- Let Zhen Reward You

Jiang touched his forehead and felt how smooth it had become, even the stinging pain he was feeling earlier but was ignored by him was no longer there "Thank you your majesty" he said, he had never heard of a flame that could heal small bruises before, he remembered that this flame looked familiar to the white flame Jun Tang had used to wrap around his body and then transport them to his manor where he taught Jiang all he knew now about the piercing tornado dance technique, Jiang looked at the emperor quizzically, as if he wanted to see Jun Tang in him, however, when he saw no perfect resemblance he decided to think more about the emperor's words, emperor Qin Jie Huang just watched him intently without uttering a word.

"Family" Jiang finally murmured those words which tasted foreign as it left his lips.

"I am not even your empress yet," Jiang said while being in a somewhat dazed state.

"Why me your majesty, I am nobody" Jiang still couldn't accept all this, everything was changing too fast, he couldn't keep up.

"Zhen says Zhen loves you, Don't you believe in Zhen's words" Jiang couldn't hold back the blush that appeared on his tear stained cheeks, he tried to dodge the emperor's intense gaze, he even felt guilty for not feeling the same way about the emperor, for loving someone else instead, someone not deserving, nonetheless, if the emperor was true to his words he really wanted to work on loving him back, but could he really do that, did he have the heart to try again? what if he gets his heart shattered into pieces this time? all these where Jiang's fears.

All Jiang ever wanted was to be treated genuinely, to be loved and accepted by the people he cared about, he was willing to give them his all, to protect their interest yet he was never treated sincerely by these people so even if now he wished to move forward with the emperor, it was still way too early, the scars he received from Jun Tang was still fresh in his mind, Jiang was too scared of being betrayed and been left standing alone.

The emperor planned on eventually telling Jiang that he is indeed Jun Tang and properly apologizing for his previous actions but he felt now was not the right time, simply put the emperor was scared of being ignored by Jiang, or worst never forgiven, he wanted to enjoy these harmonious moments with Jiang a bit longer "Zhen' doesn't like it when you bring yourself down, you are so much more than you think you are Jiang, also Zhen has been so good to you lately so how about you stop addressing Zhen so formally" Qin Jie Huang tried to distract Jiang into thinking of something less depressing.

"Your majesty this servant doesn't understand"

"I will not address you as such, you are not my husband yet" Jiang fumed, he had unknowingly admitted to eventually becoming the emperor's wife even if he wasn't one right now and this made the emperor smile so much to the point that his eyes could barely be seen.

The emperor was ever more hyper now, he will get Jiang to agree to his proposal no matter what so Emperor Qin Jie Huang pouted his lips and then said somewhat childishly" For the crime of deceiving the emperor, Yin province here I come"

"Ha" Jiang face practically screamed disbelief as he made that sound 'Did the emperor just pout and how can he act so childish' Jiang watched as the emperor stood up from the bed and started swaggering towards the door of the bedchamber still wrapped with the bed covering silk.

Jiang really didn't want to say it, he even thought of the fact that whether he says it or not the emperor will eventually still dish out punishment to the General's manor, still, after thinking properly about this matter he didn't want the reason the emperor punishes the Lei's should be because of the particular crime he had promised to shield them from.

"Your majesty is this how you treat the person you claim to love, through blackmail" Jiang angrily spat out those words, Jiang was trying to guilt trip the emperor into relenting, he didn't know just how thick-skinned the emperor was.

"There is nothing wrong with a husband wanting his wife to address him in that way, it's not blackmailed" Qin Jie Huang stubbornly refuted his words.

"I am not a woman so how can you address me as your wife?"

"Is that the point right now? Stop trying to change the subject" while they had this conversation the emperor didn't once even turn back to face Jiang, he still headed towards the door with determined steps.

On seeing that the Emperor right hand was about to touch the doorknob, Jiang heart that had been beating rapidly with every step the emperor took towards the door couldn't hold on much longer so he grudgingly spat out the words "Laogong" the emperor instantly spun backward.

"What did you say, Zhen didn't hear you properly"

"I said Laogong" Jiang screamed the words out angrily while huffing and puffing.

Emperor Qin Jie Huang didn't mind Jiang's actions at all, his smile was like that of a blooming flower bud, he had this urge to spoil Jiang rotten "Much better, for doing so well and pleasing Zhen this much, let Zhen reward you" seeing that familiar looking cunning glimmer in the emperor's eyes, Jiang didn't think he will be liking this so-called reward.
