CHAPTER 58- Fairytale Phoenix Palace

Jiang sat inside a small boat in the middle of a clear river situated inside his newly acquired dwelling called Fairytale Phoenix Palace, the river in this dwelling even had a waterfall and so many beautiful types of trees and flowers surrounded it, colorful mystic birds flew in the sky, some chirping and some not doing so.

This palace felt oddly familiar to Jiang, it almost wanted to look like Jun Tang's manor but it was more majestic, extravagant and grand.

Jiang believed he was thinking too much again about unrelated things.

It has been two days since Jiang's first battle and his return to the imperial palace, and in these two days, Jiang couldn't believe the so many changes that have occurred in the imperial palace especially as regards to himself.

He was given the Fairytale Phoenix Palace, a dwelling place inside the imperial palace that was said to be suited for the True empress of Tang Qin Shang and could only be occupied by such a personality, also it was beside the emperor's Majestic Dragon palace.

The Fairytale Phoenix Palace lived up to its name, it occupied so many acres of land that Jiang couldn't even calculate and it gave off a dreamy and paradise kind of feeling.

It was truly beautiful.

Although Jiang's palace was beside the emperor's palace, it was a good distance away from it so Jiang felt a bit relieved by this for like a breath worth of time since when he thought about it more deeply he realized that such a distance could be covered by the emperor in mere seconds and if the emperor have ill intentions for him as he had suspected the moment he knew about his new situation then it won't be hard for him to execute them.

The more he thought about it the more he realized that he could never understand the emperor because he was like an ever-changing puzzle that could never be solved, If the emperor wanted to torture him slowly and silently without needing to even lift a finger when he was doing a great job at that, Jiang felt like this emperor really had a devious and wicked mind

Jiang decided to lay down on the boat and catch a few minutes of sleep but it was at this moment that Han Sheng decided to call out to him "Esteemed empress..." The sudden disturbance shocked Jiang and made him lose balance hence his body stumbled inside the cold lake "Splash" sound echoed in the silent environment.

Jiang when in his world completely forgot that they were people waiting on him by the lakeside, these people followed him practically everywhere, they were even some who wanted to bath him but Jiang refused vehemently also since that day those people that wanted to bath him seem to have disappeared from his palace like they were never there.

"Ahh......" Han Sheng shouted like the world had come to an end while Jiang acted like nothing had happened and just floated back on top the lake with his piercing tornado dance technique shrouding his being within.

The eunuchs that were standing behind Han Sheng as well as himself all fell down to their knees and began knocking their heads on the ground while echoing together "This humble servant deserves a thousand deaths for letting the esteemed empress elect suffer such grievance, we deserve a thousand deaths" Jiang could never get used to this.

Jiang had noticed all the guards and servants assigned to his manor behaved in a very respectful way and seem to even fear him a lot, Jiang couldn't understand why all this was happening, even Han Sheng seems a bit distance, Jiang decided to find out the root of all this today.

Jiang dried his clothes but didn't need to touch his hair since he prevented water from touching it, so once he was done with using his technique as a dryer he deactivated it and then said "Han Sheng stay behind, the rest of you may leave" They all scurried away while pitying Han Sheng who had angered the empress elect and was made to stay behind, some even threw Han Sheng a pitiful look.

Once everyone was gone Jiang tuned to the still kneeling Han Sheng "Why are you still kneeling, standup" Jiang's voice sounded grumpy, he hadn't slept for two days and wasn't in a really good mood, Han Sheng on standing up met with Jiang's panda looking eyes and had to muffle a chuckle, he was still little and couldn't completely act all rigid and stoic like the rest servants even if he believed he was supposed to and his present behavior was disrespectful but seeing the empress elect with those panda looking eyes were just too funny and he couldn't completely resist the urge to laugh.

"You seem to be very amused at the expense of this empress elect, tell me Han Sheng how should I punish you" Jiang said as he glared at Han Sheng who was now looking at the ground and wouldn't dare to lift up his head as he said "Forgive this humble servant for this servant didn't meet to disrespect her highness the empress elect" he wanted to go down on his kneels again when Jiang who had been floating towards him landed beside him and then immediately moved in to prevent his actions.

"I was just joking Han Sheng" Jiang sighed "Seriously, what's wrong with you all of a sudden? Although you use to be cautious with me we have already established a familiar bond or is it because you don't see me as your elder sister anymore" Jiang cringed after saying the words "elder sister" no one could blame him for always having such a reaction, he was a male afterall, Jiang let out a sad expression for Han Sheng to see.

Han Sheng on seeing this became distressed, he really like the empress elect and didn't want her to be sad because of him " esteemed empress elect, it is not like that, this humble servant do see you as an elder sister" Jiang eyed him disbelievingly and this just further made Han Sheng distressed and anxious "I am telling the truth, I do see you as an elder sister but.." before he could continue Jiang cut him short "If you do see me as an elder sister then you will treat me as such and you can start by telling me why every maid and eunuch seem to fear me, even their respect is due to this fear? "

Jiang flashed Han Sheng with those eyes that indirectly said "if you don't agree to my demands I will be very sad and miserable" Jiang knew he was putting Han Sheng on a tight spot but he was really curious and his curiously could only go away after he knows the truth, he knew he was basically guilt-tripping Han Sheng but he wanted it to work and hopefully Han Sheng could finally tell him what lead to such a big change in the imperial palace.

People who once disrespected him and treated him like shit now treated him like he was a priceless jewel, they didn't dare to look him in the eyes like they once so arrogantly did, they didn't curse at him for being a weak empress elect.

They shuddered in fear when they addressed him as if he could with just his word order for their deaths, they strived to please him.

Jiang couldn't get this.

Since he came back he has tried to find out why everyone was so scared and respectful of him but no one will say anything no matter how much the maids or eunuchs feared offending him, it was they didn't fear him enough to answer his questions.

Jiang didn't believe it was because he won just one fight against his opponent, that couldn't be the reason at all after all the person he won against was the weakest of the bunch that he had to fight.

Han Sheng didn't know what to say, he wanted to refute but every time he raised his head and saw that pitiful doll-like sparkling bright eyes he just couldn't.

"But the emperor doesn't like his subordinates speaking of his matters," Han Sheng said and took a peek at the empress elect who was glaring daggers at him, he felt very uncomfortable"

"It seems like you don't care about your elder sister's pain" After saying that, Jiang pretended to want to leave Han Sheng's presence, his sad eyes looked at the ground dejectedly.

"The emperor won't be pleased if he finds out but I will tell you anyway, his majesty had instructed us all to treat you with utmost respect and whoever fails to do so will be punished severely, an example was even shown to us although that is a matter we cannot speak of if we love our necks" Jiang didn't believe what he had just heard.

"Han Sheng, why are you lying to elder sister? Just say that you don't want to acknowledge me as family and I will understand but stop spurring nonsense" Jiang truly felt offended because he believed Han Sheng wasn't telling the truth, the emperor would never do such a thing.

"But it is the truth, the moment his majesty found out what happened to your previous dwelling place the emperor immediately gave instructions to have the Fairytale Phoenix Palace to be arranged for you, he also sent for young mistress Liang Na and taught her a lesson she would never forget" Han Sheng smiled smugly at this but then immediately clasped his hands over his mouth, he had said too much.

"What do you mean?" Jiang didn't quite understand what Han Sheng was implying.

Han Sheng nervously looked left and right and then when he saw no one, he drew closer to Jiang and began to speak in a whispered tone "When you were not around, young mistress Liang Na came to seek you out and then burnt down your former dwelling place when she couldn't find you and as a result of this she was taught a great lesson by the emperor when he found out about this incident" Han Sheng smiled brightly and appeared to be remembering an unforgettable pleasant event.

Jiang had a blank look on his face, what he had just heard was just so huge so he couldn't immediately assimilate it all into his brain.

"Elder sister Lei Yue in my heart I regard you as an elder sister but I cannot address you as such not even in secret because the walls have ears so this will be the first and last time I address you as such" Han Sheng paused briefly, he was thinking he would be scolded for saying such things but he wasn't, neither was he persuaded against his decision.

"Even now I as a servant shouldn't so casually speak about the emperor's matters with you because such an act can condemn my life, this is also the reason why no one will speak about anything that concerns the emperor to you, If you want to hear about such matters it is better to find out from the horse's mouth" Han Sheng solemnly said.

Jiang who had heard all this had a slight smile playing on his lips, he also wondered when Han Sheng grew up so much because right now his words didn't sound childlike in the least bit "Thank you for risking your life to tell me all these things, going forward I won't put you in such a difficult situation" Han Sheng blushed and averted his eyes away from Jiang's own, Han Sheng could picture Jiang's beautiful smile behind the veil by just looking at Jiang's smiling eyes and this made his heart feel warm and tingling inside.

Han Sheng was happy to have someone he could call family.

"Sorry to disobey your earlier order esteemed empress elect but someone has come to find you" one of the maid that were dismissed earlier said with bowed head and shuddering shoulders.

"Harrumph" Jiang's brows creased in annoyance, he hadn't done anything to her so why was she shivering as if he poured ice water on her, these servants' actions were really beginning to annoy him, he wanted true genuine respect and not respect gotten due to fear.

"Was this the emperor intention all along? to irritate him to death with these idiots he assigned to look after him" Jiang mumbled "Stupid emperor" both Han Sheng and the maid's eyes popped out of their socket, even their brains felt like it had melted, the absolutely didn't just hear the empress elect abuse their emperor.

After severely cursing at the emperor numerous times Jiang finally asked the maid "Who wishes to see this empress elect?" Jiang had somewhat begun to act as his status demands, he had unknowingly acknowledged his title as empress elect.

Han Sheng on noticing how different the empress elect treated the maid from himself felt proud and lucky, "That's my elder sister, the one, and only empress elect, bow at her feet, worship the very ground she walks on because only she can be the true empress" Han Sheng was nodding his head vigorously from left to right.

Since Han Sheng's conversation was with himself only and also within his mind, he garnered the attention of Jiang who had begun to wonder if his little brother had a few screws loosed in his head.

Why was it that whenever he watched this little brother of his act in such a manner, he was reminded of someone who also behaved just as silly as Han Sheng but who was that someone was what Jiang couldn't recall.

Jiang will never have thought that the someone he was reminded of was none other by himself.

At this moment at the right prime minister's manor, Liang Na was lying down on her belly in her room while crying her eyes out, she was wailing so loudly that it seemed like her favorite toy had been taken from her.

No one dared to venture into her room, not her parents or even siblings, they were use to her tantrums.

Liang Na couldn't believe that the emperor whom she was going to become his true empress could treat her this cruelly for a complete trash, her backside was as if it was on fire and that is saying something to someone who is a fire elemental.

This man had the aura of a savage asura that was on a mission he hoped to accomplish splendidly.
