Chapter 37
Jacob woke up the next morning with Brook tucked under his arm. Lily had kicked James out of his bed on the other side of the room and was cuddling with his pillow while he tried to steal the blankets. Jacob just smiled. Brook looked so peaceful as she was sleeping. He didn't want to get up, but he could hear Lucy in the other room. He shifted his arm a bit so Brook was cuddling with the pillow and left the room. Lucy laid in her crib, waiting for him to pick her up. He scooped her up into his arms and kissed her cheek. Just then his cell phone began to ring. He answered it and heard his step father on the other line.
"Jake?" He heard.
"Yeah. How's Gin and the twins?"
"Good. They will have to stay in the NICU for a while, but Ginny is going to be released in a few days." He said.
"When can we see them?" He asked.
"Today if you'd like. Maybe in an hour or so. They're only letting immediate family in." David mentioned.
"Alright. I'll wake everyone up and we'll head over." He then hung up the phone and took Lucy as he quickly woke up his siblings. Everyone quickly got dressed while Mil and Brook made breakfast down stairs. Jacob struggled to pull on Lucy's shirt when the front door opened and Peter stepped in. He had two duffle bags in his hands and was dressed in a light sweater since it was chilly outside.
"Peter!" Jewel shouted with glee from behind Jacob. Jacob had to step out of the way so Jewel wouldn't push him over as she ran to their brother.
"Hey!" Peter said dropping down onto one knee so he could embrace their sister. He stood and glanced over at Jacob. "How's Ginny?" He asked.
"Better. She'll have to stay for a few days. And the twins will be there a while." He said. Peter nodded once before approaching him, glancing at Lucy curiously. "Oh, right, you haven't met Luce yet!" Jacob said. He passed his baby sister off to their older brother.
"How old is she now?" Peter asked as he smiled at Lucy.
"Around five months." Jacob wasn't sure of her birthday, and made a mental note to find out when it was, that way he wouldn't be such a horrible brother. Peter was about to respone when Mil can running in, with flour on her cheek and pancake batter on her jeans. She hugged Peter tightly and smiled.
"You're just in time! We're headed over to see Gin in a few minutes." She said. Peter set his bags down in the hallway and left them for a minute as he left for his room.
About half an hour later, they had fed the animals and eaten breakfast. They were in two sperate cars as well. Peter drove all of the little kids in the SUV, and James drove the truck. Peter went straight to the hospital, but James had to drop Brook and Lily off at their houses. Daniella was allowed to come since Ginny was her sister-in-law, and her babies were her niece and nephew as well. It took almost an hour to reach the hospital that David told them they were at. There was three hospitals in Reno, so James made sure he went to the right one. Peter and the little kids were waiting outside for them. Jacob took Lucy's car seat from Peter and covered tthe carsear with a blanket, so the cold couldn't reach her.
Once they were all inside, they all crowded inside the elevator and Jewel and Joseph fought over her got to press the button. Jewel finally won once she elbowed her older brother in the stomach. Once they were finally on the floor, a nurse at the desk stopped them.
"Are you here to visit?" She asked. The others stepped back, allowing Daniella to do the talking since she was typically good at that.
"Yes, we're here to see Ginny Johnson. Room two hundred and three." Daniella said. The nurse eyed them curiously.
"Mrs. Johnson is family only visitations. Are you all family?" She asked. Daniella nodded.
"Yes, everyone here is her siblings, and I'm her sister-in-law." She said. The nurse stared for a moment.
"You're all her siblings?" Peter nodded.
"Yup, and if you don't mind, we want to see if our sister is alright." Peter said, trying not to be rude. The nurse nodded.
"Down the hall, to your left. Be quiet though, she's sleeping."
Shawn was asleep across the window seat, and Alex and David were talking quietly in the corner while Ginny slept. Mrs. and Mr. Johnson had gone home two hours before to check up on the animals. Alex stood when they all came in, crowding the small room. She hugged Peter tightly before moving towards Ginny's bed and tapping her on the shoulder. She woke suddenly and gave a small smile when she saw her siblings. She carefully sat up and Jewel ran to hug her.
"So there are to many of you to go into the NICU at the same time, so half of you come with me, the other half stay here." David said. Jacob, Lucy, Julian, Jewel, and Mil followed David out of the room and down to a different floor, where there were babies in large capsules.
"What are they in?" Mil asked slightly scared.
"Incubators. It keeps them warm until they're strong enough to leave." Jacob told his little sister. "James and I were in them when we were first born. I only had to stay in one for about a week, but James was in it for three months."
"How long will Charlotte and Anthony have to stay in them Daddy?" Jewel asked David as she clung to his hand.
"Maybe a couple of weeks at the most." He said. He finally stopped when they reached two incubators side by side. One held their niece, the other held their nephew. Jewel had to stand on her tip toes to see and Mil had to lift Julian up.
"They're so tiny." Jewel whispered. David nodded and lifted her up a bit so she could see better.
"They'll grow one day." He said.
"Right now I doubt that." Mil chuckled. Jacob set the carseat down on the ground and pulled Lucy out. He held her up and she stared at Anthony and Charlotte in wonder.
"That's your niece and nephew, Luce. You'll be best friends with them when you're older." He whispered into his sisters ear. She obviously didn't respond. She simply stared and sucked on her fist.
"Ok, once you've all said hello, let's go back to Ginny's room and give the others a chance to see them." David said taming Jewel's hand. Mil set Julian on her hip and was about to leave, but he outstretched his hand towards the twins.
"Beebies!" He said. Mil smiled.
"We can see the Babies some other time." She said before she left the room with him.

Ok, I know it's been forever! I thought about putting this book on hold because I had such a massive writers block, but I decided to keep pushing through. I'm hoping to end this book soon so it doesn't drag on to long, I'm just not sure how to end it yet. If you guys and gals want to help by giving me input that would be awesome. You can PM or comment. Thank you for sticking to this book, I know I haven't been the greatest. I'll try to set a date by which I have to have something published. The picture on the side is of Reno, And our story takes place only about an hour outside of it. Reno is probably one of the most beautiful cities in the west I think. But that might be because I live there. Yeah, so anyway. Love Y'all!
