Chapter 29

Finally, it was Saturday. Alex and David left to go visit Ginny, taking Jewel, Joseph and Julian with them. James, Jacob and Mil were then left with Lucy. Jacob didn't mind though. James and Mil made sure Jacob was alright before they went on a ride with their horses. They offered to take his place in watching Lucy so he could take Chevy out, but he insisted on staying home with his sister. This gave him the perfect chance to try out his new camara he had taken from his dads room. Everything about it was perfect, it looked so clear! He took a bunch of pictures of Lucy as she smiled and giggled up at him. Afterwards, he took Lucy out to the barn to show her around and also take some pictures of Chevy and Wildfire. Lucy loved all the horses, and Chevy loved her. Jacob got the cutest pictures of Lucy and Chevy. in one picture, Lucy was pointing at Chevy with her eyes widened as she looked directly at the camara, with her mouth in the 'O' shape once again. Chevy gave Jacob a few looks that he could read easily, such as 'why is this tiny human staring at me like that' and 'Is she always this loud?'  Jacob smiled at her and kissed her nose. Lucy was in fact being loud, smiling and giggling and occasionally screaming when Chevy came near. The first time she screamed, Chevy jumped, causing Lucy to freeze and stare at Chevy in horror. The look on her face was so priceless, that Jacob bet he could sell the picture of her for big bucks. He then took her inside, fed her and she laid down for a nap on the couch while he looked over the pictures, smiling at every one.

Half an hour later, Brook pulled up and walked in through the door. She was over here so often that she didn't knock anymore. She sat down on the other side of Jacob, where Lucy wasn't and she curled up next to him, smiling at the pictures Jacob had taken. Lucy woke soon after Brook arrived and they took her up to the nursury. The nursery was prepared for Alex's baby that died, they already had the crib and changing table and other things she would need. They had had the crib for a long time. James explained to Jacob how David had built it for Mil and they had used it ever since.

Mil and James returned a bit after Brook arrived. They put away their horses and took over watching Lucy while Jacob took Brook up to his room. He sat down on his bed with his back pressed up against the bed board. Brook sat down next to him and he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her towards him. She smiled and turned around so she was facing him. she kissed him lightly at first until the kiss deepened and she pressed up against his chest. Even though they had kissed a bunch of times before, Jacob still got that shiver that ran through his body at the touch of her lips. Her fingers ran through his hair and he kissed her neck, smiling to himself as she sighed quietly. He kissed her lips again and she shifted so she was then sitting on his lap. He sat up straighter and slipped his hand under the hem of her shirt, feeling another shiver run through his body at the touch of her skin. He ran his fingers down her spine and she kissed him harder. Her lips tasted sweet like strawberries and her perfume made him dizzy it smelt amazing to him. She was driving him crazy. He felt the need to take it a step further, but he knew she wasn't that kind of girl, and he respected that.

There was a knock on the door and Brook quickly stood, straitening her shirt and Jacob followed her example by sitting on the edge of his bed so things looked less suspicious. Mil opened the door and looked at them both, as if she knew they had been kissing, or that she could read Jacob's thoughts, thoughts of annoyance towards Mil for interrupting.

"Mom called. She said they'll be home in ten minutes." She said. Jacob thanked her and Mil shut the door, leaving them alone. Brook sat down next to Jacob and let out a sigh.

"Brook, I think it's safe to say that you drive me absolutely crazy." He said looking over at her. She smiled a bit, and still blushed.

"I have that effect on a few people." She said sticking up her chin high in the air. He laughed and grabbed her waist, pulling her too him. He kissed the nape of her neck and chuckled.

"Brook, I love you." He said. She tensed a little, but relaxed and let out a sigh.

"I love you too." She said before kissing him gently. He felt warm and cozy at her touch and felt the need to protect her. Everything bad had seemed to go wrong this week and Brook was one upside. Another was Lucy, and her contagious smile, but Brook felt different then Lucy. He felt as if he needed Brook, and no matter what, she would be there for him. He wanted to share his feelings with her, but his words got lost in his head and he couldn't bring himself to say it. Later. I'll tell her later. The two of them stood and went downstairs to join Jacob's siblings.

Dark storm clouds covered the sky the next day, and yet the sun still shone down on the ground. Jacob took his camara and headed up to the cow fields. David had asked him to check on the calves, so he thought it would be a perfect chance to capture some of Nevadas scenery. Nevada was definitely not as green as Florida, but at this time of year, the grass was pretty green. Jacob sat down on a hill overlooking the cow pastures. It looked perfect. The dark tan cows were grazing lazily in the fairly tall grass, that swayed in the wind. The dark purple mountain behind them was lit by the sun, while behind it, the dark sky's loomed, ready to drench them in the rain it had stored. Nevada wasn't as pretty as Florida's greenery, but Nevada still had beautiful aspects to it.

Jacob walked through the herd of cattle after he had finished taking pictures. He found Rocky, who came running up to him to lick him, Milkshakes lumbering about behind him.

After Jacob told David that the cows were doing fine, he saddled up Chevy and road her around the arena. Since it looked like it might rain, Jacob decided against taking her on a ride far from the house. He was lucky he didn't either, because half an hour after riding around, he felt the first few drops. He put Chevy back into her stall and headed inside just as temhe rain got a little bit heavier.

Jacob played with Lucy the rest of the day to pass the time. They couldn't go outside due to the rain, though Jacob would have loved too, Alex refused since the last time it rained he caught a really bad cold. Lucy didn't mind he couldn't go anywhere though. He poked her in the sides, making her giggle, and then he gave her something he never thought he would give up. Though he was embarrassed to admit, he had a stuffed animal from when he was little. It was a brown dog with long ears and it was a little beat up from sixteen years of suffering being Jacob's toy. It's name was Puppy, he wasn't very clever when he was little. Hayley gave it to him when he was only a year old, and he clung to it like his life depended on it. He never threw it away because he got to old for stuffed animals, he put it in the back of his closet, and he had grabbed it when he went back to Florida. Puppy used to keep him 'safe' from the 'monsters under his bed'. But Puppy had suffered through Jacob long enough, and it was time to be passed onto a new owner. Lucy wrapped her chubby little baby arms around Puppy and she giggled as Jacob tickled her gently. She seemed like a very happy baby, especially for one who just lost her parents.

Alex smiled as she watched Jacob play with Lucy from ths door way of the kitchen. She had heard Lucy giggling for the past five minutes and wanted to see what was going on, just to find Jacob being a good older brother by playing with his baby sister. Lucy was clinging to a stuffed dog, that Alex had never seen before. Jacob must have given it to her since it looked pretty beat up and she had never seen it before in her life. She smiled to herself and walked back into the kitchen, thinking about how much poor Jacob and Lucy had been through. neither of their lives had been easy, straight off they were put through hardships. Alex and Collin and gotten a divorce when Jacob and James were only two months old. Lucy's parents were both killed. She could barely even begin to think the trauma they had gone through. But Jacob seemed to be holding up, standing strong, and Alex knew that it would make Lucy strong by seeing her older brothers example. Lucy couldn't have been more lucky to get an older brother as good as Jacob.

A/N

Hey! I've updated so much today! I'm pretty proud of myself! Lol.  I just got a bunch of great ideas and no life, so I wrote all day, locked in my room and away from people... That sounded a bit strange, but my family makes it pretty clear that that's what I am! I am not to proud of this chapter though, I just don't like it for some reason. I just needed to show how loving Jacob is towards his baby sister, and how she will never be alone. So I hope you all liked my crazy writing spree! Love ya all!
