Chapter six: Bonding time
The bright sun slowly shined though the apartment's curtains. The small toddler, slowly rose to the bright light pointing directly into her vision.
The room was dark, only having the light from outside bright up the room slightly. Mordred could make out her mother's figure sleeping next to her, along side her stuff lion plushie resting beside her.
The bedroom door was slightly cracked open, for the toddler since Mordred's still to small to reach for the golden knob. As Mordred sat up from the soft mattress, she could see the bathroom light on.
The small girl titled her head, she was curious but also scared. Her small hands grabbed the blanket and dragged the soft material off her body.
Once she placed her feet on the ground, quietly she grabbed her plushie and pushed the door open. Making sure not to wake up her sleepy mother, once the door was opened wide enough where Mordred can fit her body though.
There, stood her new father figure in the bathroom with the door wide open. The tall girl looked like she just got out of the shower, having a small white towel rest on her shoulders around her neck.
She stands at the sink, in front of the mirror brushing her teeth. She wasn't fully dressed and didn't seem to mind it. Ducked in a white shirt and strange looking boxers, she stared at her reflection. Tired eyes staring back herself, as she dragged the gray toothbrush across her white teeth.
"P-Papa..?" Mordred's quiet voice spoke. She suddenly had the courage to talk, after staring at her. The woman she addresses as her "father" pulled her eyes away from her reflection, staring at the small girl with tired (F/C) eyes looking slightly dull but still having light in them.
(Y/N) pulled her toothbrush out of her mouth, spitting out the reminding toothpaste left in her mouth. The sink water came on, the older woman washed her mouth out replacing the water with mouth wash.
After (Y/N) finished her bathroom routine, she turned to the toddler once more, giving the small blonde her full attention. "Hello Mordred. Why are you up so early?" Mordred's grip on her plushie tightened slightly.
"I-I" Mordred's voice got stuck in her throat, she could not find the courage she had early to talk to (Y/N). "She isn't like the other papa, she's nice to you and cares." That's what ran though Mordred's head.
But she could not get the memories out of her head. When Morgan would verbally yell at her for no reason, and threatened to hit her if she was a bad girl. The sheer thought of Morgan, made Mordred want to cry and run away from the memories.
Poor thing, haunted by her own memories because of her abusive biological father. Mordred started to quietly whimper, she wanted to forget her biological father ever existed and tell herself (Y/N) is her real dad.
The (H/C) haired girl's eyes went slightly wide, taken back from the toddler's sudden behavior. (Y/N) crouched down to Mordred's height, and picked the toddler up slowly and gently, trying not to scare her more.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why you crying? Bad dream? Hungry? Need to use the restroom?" (Y/N) slowly started to rub Mordred's back, once she started to hear the toddler hiccup.
"Shh, you need to take deep breathes." After few minutes of trying to calm Mordred down. Mordred sat on (Y/N)'s bed, as she held the inhaler and mask to Mordred's face.
"You okay now?" (Y/N) asks, after pulling the mask off of Mordred's face. Mordred nods her small round head, (Y/N) smiles picking Mordred up from under her armpits.
As (Y/N) turned around, Mordred started to whine and outstretch her arms, like she's trying to grab something. (Y/N) arched a perfect brow, "What's wrong? What are trying to do? Grab the air?" (Y/N) laughed lightly at her own question.
Then she looked over her shoulder, and figured out what's got Mordred's attention now. Her lion plushie laid on her bed, on it's back facing up at the ceiling.
"Papa! You forget Simba!" Mordred pouted, hitting the back of (Y/N)'s shoulder. The woman sighed, "Yes, we shall not forget Prince Simba." (Y/N) turned around and grabbed the lion off her bed sheets.
She examined the plushie in her hand, this lion did not look like Simba from The Lion King what so ever. But, from what (Y/N) heard from Artoria. Mordred's into the whole lion thing.
Mordred started to tug on (Y/N)'s shirt, (Y/N) got the hint and gave Mordred her plushie. The little girl, smiled brightly rubbing and cuddling up against the person holding her and her plushie.
As (Y/N) walked down the hallway, to the guest room where Artoria was resting. The girl in her arms yawned, grabbing (Y/N)'s attention. "Tired?" Mordred shakes her head stubbornly, along with a "no" that wasn't so convincing.
A small smile pulls on (Y/N)'s lips, once she's standing in front of Artoria and Mordred's bedroom door. She slowly placed her hand on the shiny door knob, while making sure not to drop the toddler in her arm.
She twists the knob, quietly and slowly. Once the door is open wide enough, she walks though the gap. The room had no lights on and was only lit by the sun.
(Y/N) smiled, seeing Artoria's sleeping peacefully underneath the warm blanket. She quietly walks over to the bed, and carefully placed the sleepy four-year old on the mattress.
Pulling the blanket over Mordred's small body. She patted her hair, feeling her soft strands of blonde hair under the palm of her hand.
As she pulled her hand away, another hand grasped hers. Surprising (Y/N), she pulls away as an instinct. When she looked who had made human contact with her, she was met with green eyes that Mordred got her pair from.
Artoria had a tired smile present on her face. "Morning.." Her voice was raspy, exhausted and overall tired. She grabbed (Y/N)'s hand again, trancing her knuckles and veins on her hand.
"What are we doing today?" (Y/N) looked confused. They had plans to go out or something? "Uhh...haven't thought about it. But, we'll think of something when you get up. Just rest a little longer."
Artoria nodded, pulling Mordred into her chest. (Y/N) smiled and walked towards the door, making sure to shut the door quietly.

"I hate traffic.." All I can see though the windshields and rain, was just more backends of a thousand different cars.
The radio was on, having the commercials play on. Artoria would every now and then, switch though the channels for some music.
Mordred was in her car seat, watching different Disney movies she desired. Well, I. The diver, had to deal with traffic and asshole drivers who can't wait for they turns or have common sense.
We've been sitting in traffic for about ten minutes, moving once in awhile. But, just have been sitting in the same spot for the whole time.
"So, why did you want to go to the mall on a raining day?" I wanted to break the silence. I mean, it wasn't completely silent. Mordred's movie was playing along with the rain drops, bouncing off my car.
I feel a slight shove to the side, "Stop complaining. You're such a big baby." I give a slight glare to Artoria, still keeping my eyes on the road and cars.
"I'm not a baby, I just don't want to get my shoes dirty." Artoria playfully rolls her eyes. "How about you don't wear your nice shoes on a rainy day."
I huff, "But we'll be inside.." "That's what I'm saying, so stop complaining about your shoes being dirty." I scrunch my face up, with Artoria playfully sticking her tongue out.
"I win!" "You better stop until I stick your tongue out for you." She stops, kinda confused on what I said. Until her cheeks dusted pink, and I get a hard slap to the head.
"Ow! The fuck?! "Stop swearing in front of Mordred!" I stare at Artoria with an angry expression, "But you just hit me?!" "Yeah! Cause your inappropriate!" It was just a verbal fight between me and Artoria.
"Stop acting like you didn't like it!" Then, she stopped pointing a finger at me. I grin, relaxing back in my seat.
She slumped more into her seat, embarrassed. Just watching the water droplets run down her window.
"I hate you.."
"Love you too."
