Wings of the hurricane and a home stolen
-a/n pov-
Princess Adalinda woke of the cries and screams of fear and pain. Something was wrong, very wrong. She immediately sat up in her bed with a start and hurried out of it. She ran down the stairs from her room that cascaded down to the treasure hall. She never knew why her room was placed so close to the treasure; she didn't like it at all and never would.
As adalinda came down the stairs, she noticed that the commotion was in the forefront of the mountain, the gate. She immediately picked up her skirts and hurried towards the entrance just in time to see it being burst open, revealing the body of a dragon—a firedrake, to be exact. The princess watched in horror, ad the forces of the dwarves fled. Throin, not Balin, was to be seen, but she had a feeling that they had gotten out. Not that all the dwarves had escaped, the mountain was silent as the dragon strutted to the treasure hall.
Princess adalinda was torn between following her friends or staying behind and driving the dragon out. She wasn't long in her land of thoughts when the familiar sound of her best friend's voice carried over the sound from outside, and you felt a presence that could not be mistaken. The king of the elves, Thranduil. He had visited Erebor once in the past, wanting his jewels of pure starlight as the king of Durin had promised him. But Thror had grown greedy and refused to give the elven king his rightful claim.
Adalinda remembered how furious she had been with the king at that time. She refused to talk to him and planted his son and soon made their father and grandfather change his mind to evade war between the two razes. But the dwarf king's mind wasn't easily changed, not even from his son.

The screams had subtended and entirely disappeared as adalinda walked back into the mountain after having talked with the great lord of the eagles, Hiriorn. she had sought him for help and advice on how to deal with this situation. he had told her to remain in the mountain and befriend the dragon. It would be better than hate it and make for a dangerous journey through middle earth searching for her friends. He had also told her about the prophecy about thorin's kin. she remembered it from one of the books she had read. She yearned that something like that wouldn't happen. But she knew it was bound to. So she did as the great lord had said and found the treasure chamber easily as her room was a few stairs from its floor.
When she entered, she saw it again filled with the gold that thror had stored up there for years. She searched the mountain of gold after any sign after the dragon but found none. Yet, she knew he was there; she could feel him. Reluctantly the princess seated on a stone perch from the pillars built in the vast room. Sighing, she summoned a paper and a quiet to use. It was merely to make the time go. Little did she know that someone was watching her. An eye of gold looked from under the gold as the sound of footsteps had awakened it.
Smaug was sure he had driven the dwarves out, and a mere human won't dare enter. So who was this girl who sat here, looking as she wasn't afraid that he could suddenly lash out and kill her? His curiosity gnawed at him, but he decided to let her be, for now. He then closed his eyes and sunk longer into the mound of gold he slept in. the princess of arda grew tired of drawing, so she let the paper and quil disappear by her mere thought and stood up, dusting her dew blue dress and made for her room. The dragon could wait. what she wanted now was a good night's sleep.

"Now, here I am, a woman strong
-I am a dragon
I use the flames to fuel my soul
-I'm not a victim
And when I fall asleep at night
-I hear the people cry
For I cannot be killed by fire
Your devil's child" ― Karliene, Dreams of Fire
