Random Drabble #3

I have 2 more of these but I haven't finished either sooooo

I was talking with someone and I was tempted to kill off a character so hERE WE GO!

Also woah new time period I haven't written this arc before Oo0

———————

He was scared.

Johannes knew he shouldn't have snuck out of camp. He shouldn't have snuck out at night in the middle of a swamp with no light. He should has brought someone with him for backup.

But the others would never take this opportunity! The enemy would see his light orb! And if her were to have brought one of his siblings, they would only hold him back!

Weak Jonannes, can't take care of himself, always having to be watched, I'll show them.

Sena has told him time and time again Johannes was not a problem, but he knew his brothers and sister thought otherwise. Besides, he wanted to prove himself to Sena! He may be young but he could do big things as well! He was a Revolutionary!

And if that means I'm trudging through the mud to infiltrate the enemy camp, so be it!

Johannes had teleported as close as he felt comfortable to the Navarian camp without setting off their Energie-sensing boundaries, but now he was trying to sneak through without magic and without the best stealth skills in an unfavorable environment.

Johannes lifted his boot from the gunk and it made a painfully loud PLOP. He winced and flicked the remaining mud off his boot before glancing around and hoping no one heard that.

"Did you hear something?"

Johannes cursed under his breath (something he would never do in front of Jonas or Sena. Jonas would was his mouth out with soap. Sena doesn't curse and he's the leader of the Revolutionaries! All that stress and pressure and he somehow doesn't buckle? He would be disappointed in Johannes if he overheard him with weak language skills.) He teleported to the thick, smooth branches of whatever swamp trees were surrounding him and held his breath.

Two Navarian guards passed underneath him.

"I don't see nothing."

"I swear I heard something in the mud..."

"It was probably just something falling in it. This nasty stuff gets everywhere it's not supposed to and you know it!"

"Hey, look at this. Footprints."

Johannes's blood ran cold. I didn't cover my tracks. They're going to know I'm here!

"There's footprints everywhere in this damn place. They're probably from us patrolling last lap. Let's get moving, I want to finish and go to bed."

Johannes released a breath he wasn't aware he was holding and teleported away from the guards. Maybe this wasn't such a great way to prove himself after all.

Coward, he chided himself, but I know they need me back at camp.

Johannes tele-hopped as far as he could from the Navarian camp as fast as he could. Maybe he could come back and scout for a better route than trying to stay in the ground and hope you're not heard.

He was close to the Revolutionary territory now. There was the giant twisted tree that everyone used to orient themselves in this conniving marsh. He was fairly sure this was neutral territory, being between the two fronts.

Johannes stood at the floor of the tree and looked up. He could barely see the bright moon through all the leaves.

"Halt! Who goes there?"

Johannes jumped and spun around to see a Navarian soldier holding a palm surrounded in pale yellow magic aura at him.

He cursed in his head this time.

"I-I'm lost. Do ya thin' ya coul' help me get back ta my tawn?" Johannes reverted to his heavy country accent like Sena did as a cover. He may not have a scholar accent like Sena, but they all agreed that the stereotypes of the heavy country accent were good in hiding their identities.

The soldier did not lower his spell. "What's your name? Where are you from? This is the middle of nowhere, kid. There are no towns except the Navarian base and the rebel camp. Are you a rebel?" He narrowed his eyes and his aura flowed brighter.

Johannes felt his chest tighten in fear as he tried to come up with a decent explanation.

"I-I thought this was neutral territory," He stammered.

The soldier guffawed. "Not anymore, rebel scum."

Then he left off a blast of Energie, sending Johannes flying. The fifteen-year-old cried out as he splattered into the mud. Suddenly he was grateful that the ground was sticky soft.

The Navarian teleported to where he landed and prepared a solid sliver of Energie into the vague form of blade. He raised it above his head and lowered it before Johannes could react.

The boy reached for his enchanted shield spell in his pouch at his waist. Then the warm, magic blade entered his chest and he gasped. It was such an unnatural, wrong feeling to have an outside object inside his body. The pain did not kick in right away, but as soon as the Navarian pulled out the blade and the stab wound was exposed to the tainted air of the swamp it stung sharp and true.

I'm dying, Johannes realized. I'm dying a very slow and agonizing death. All I did was tell this man I was lost. Yeah I almost got into their camp but I didn't and yet here I am dying when I'm on neutral territory. Heh, this is the second time Shinren pulled this shit on me. Cowards, the whole lot of 'em.

The Navarian spun the blade in his hand before it disappeared from existence.

"I'd take a few more hits on you, but you'll die of infection and blood loss before your fellow outcasts can find you. Have fun in death's prison, freak."

Johannes propped himself up as best he could with his strength already failing him. The boy coughed and hated the metallic tang in his Kirk. The soldier looked down on him with an unimpressed expression.

Johannes spat at the soldier's foot. "You'll be sorry you ever messed with Sena Magi and the Revolutionaries. This means war, bastard."

The Navarian's foot lashed out and pounded into Johannes's stomach. He was sent rolling in the mud once more, trying to cough up the blood painfully...

And then all was still.

This bean does not deserve the fate I gave him

This death causes SO MUCH heartbreak and hatred later because Johannes was actually the first death of the Revolutionaries and they are MAD he was killed the way he was >:)

Although things do turn out for the better for Johannes. Death favors him and he finds his purpose eventually.

Tbh this scene isn't even super angsty, but my gosh Sena's reaction when he finds out Johannes is dead is heartbreaking >:) be glad I haven't wrote that yet
