Grian Leaving Evo
So for those who don't know, Grian is a Minecraft YouTuber (who is absolutely FRICKEN AMAZING at building) and Evo is short for Minecraft Evolution, a SMP (survival multiplayer) series where the YouTubers started in the earliest multiplayer version of Minecraft and are working their way through all the major versions of Minecraft.
Recently, Grian also joined Hermitcraft, another SMP with YouTubers that probably could be considered some of the best in their respective redstone, building, or just the dedication they have to their massive builds and complex machinery.
I heard the rumor a couple days ago that Grian was leaving Evo for Hermitcraft, but didn't really believe it until I did some research and found that Grian really DID decide to leave Evo.
So here's my take on it.
Personally, I think it's a good decision.
So when I first discovered Evo, I bringe watched every one of Grian's episodes over 24 hours. At first, they were really funny and interesting! But towards the end while Grian was building Downtown Evo his videos started to get kinda of boring.
I think Grian himself was getting bored of Evolution.
The way he edited his videos even changed for Evo. When he used to show the progress of a build over several episodes and did pranks and events and such on camera, he didn't really do that so much while building Downtown Evo. It felt like it went up overnight without the viewers getting to really see its development like say, his home base? He basically abandoned that. He put months into that base in the earliest days of Evo and Minecraft, and then just... left it.
Even his on camera activities were kind of boring. Yes, he did a few pranks and a server tour and such, but they weren't as grand or as entertaining as some of his previous pranks.
Evo has been going for what, a year now? Two? And Grian isn't used to a lot of the newer features, as shown in Hermitcraft. Given the chance for something new and interesting, and then trying to go back to how things used to be, you get bored of the same old, same old. While Grian has been running out of ideas in Evo, he's been really truly enjoying himself in Hermitcraft. He sounds happier and his videos are much more interesting than the laid back, not-really-doing-anything-big videos Evo has had recently.
But do I think there are a few things that could be different about this exit of the server? Yes.
He just got PearlescentMoon to join the Empire, and now the Empire's Leader is going to leave? What about taking over the server?! I really wanted to see that! DXD
I think the one thing that really kind of bothers me is that some of the guys on the Evo server went out of their way a week or two back to make a birthday surprise/prank for Grian, but since there hasn't been an Evo episode in that time Grian hasn't reacted to it and I only found out about it through Evo in a Nutshell (like Hermitcraft Recap, for those who don't know)
It's those little loose ends that are kind of bothering me about Grian's departure. Now, there's one more finale episode before Grian leaves for real, and I hope he will use it wisely to tie those loose ends and really end it with a bang
Maybe hopefully with a little bit of good-hearted TNT?! This IS Grian we're talking about.
Anyway yeah that's my thoughts on this. I kind of wish you wouldn't have to go searching through my account to find this, because like with SkyDoesMinecraft leaving the Minecraft community altogether, I think a lot of people only look at the declaration at face value as "NOOOOO HE'S LEAVING WHYYYY" and not how the person behind the username actually feels about his/her situation.
Anyway here's my 660 cents on this matter.
Auf weidersehen!
