Chapter 98
Yumei blinked once, "Could you repeat that."
Yoongi gulped, "You are in my family's home and Jin is my older brother."
"That is what I thought you said," Yumei replied quietly, "Are you in on this?"
Yoongi shook his head, "No... No, Yumei I have never been apart of this plan. I-"
Yumei crossed her arms and glared at him, "I have learned not to judge you because of your actions, Ooni. So I will listen to your side of the story."
Yoongi searched her face and stared into her eyes, there was no hatred, no disappointment. There were love and understanding, "Then I will tell you."
But how was he going to tell her? Was he going to begin where she had been taken seven years ago?
And then drop the bomb that Riyu wasn't her mother? That everything she knew was a lie?
Yumei blinked again waiting for him to start, one thing Majima had taught her was that there were always reasons for someone's action. "Ooni?"
Yoongi cleared his throat, "Yumei... You have to understand that this is the most difficult thing that I have ever done and- I hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive me."
"Ooni, I will listen to whatever you tell me," she unfolded her arms and reached for his hand, "I can see that you are struggling with this."
Yoongi found comfort in her grasp and it gave him the courage to start his story. Everyone was going to be angry with him, he would fake their rage but he never wanted to hurt Yumei.
And this was going to hurt, "Do you remember the incident that had happened seven years ago?"
Yumei nodded, she didn't want to speak. She promised him that she would listen, Yoongi went on. "My father was responsible and I was only twelve at the time."
'Twelve? But that was the time he had joined my family.' She thought silently.
"I had gotten home, you were in the living room and my father said..." Yoongi's throat went dry, he was reliving that day.
"I am supposed to marry you and me- I turned heels and walked out the door and did not look back."
"What happened to your mother?" Yumei asked softly, she didn't want to go back to the memory that gave her nightmares.
Yoongi tightened his grip on her hand, "Majima found me shortly after, and took me to your house."
'He is dodging the question,' she thought again but she didn't interrupt him.
"I met your father, Jimin and when I accepted my fate to be your bodyguard... they dropped a big bomb on me."
Yoongi averted his gaze from hers as he inhaled a big breath, "Riyu entered our meeting and... Yumei she is-"
Yumei was waiting in anticipation to finish his sentence when Yoongi returned his gaze to her, she saw that tears were forming in his eyes.
"Ooni," she whispered, "Who is she to you?"
He blinked and the tears rolled down his cheek, "Yumei... Riyu is Jin and my mother by blood."
Yumei's expression turned blank, the colour drained from her face and her breathing was coming fast. "Riyu- Riyu is not-"
She didn't finish her sentence as a small cough fit took over, Yoongi immediately got to his feet and he let go of her hand.
He took her in his arms, with tears staining his cheeks. This was the hardest thing he had to do, he placed his chin on her head and began rubbing her back.
"Mei-mei... It is alright." He said slowly with his voice quivering and Yumei didn't even correct him.
He forgot that news like this might sent her into an anxiety attack which van harm her health but he had to get this off his chest.
He had told Jimin every day since he had grown closer with her that she has to know the truth, even if the truth hurts but she has to know.
Yumei was clutching the back of his shirt tighter as she tried to even her breathing, "Please continue your story, Ooni." Her words came in short breaths but Yoongi only held her tighter.
"I was an angry kid back then, I had blamed you for breaking up my family even though they had told me what happened."
His words were coming faster, "They told me what my father did on the evening you were born, he killed your mother and her last wish was to get you out of this life."
Yumei tightened her grip more, her breathing was getting more uneven, "What life, Ooni?"
Yoongi was unsure if he should continue this conversation and he kissed the top of her head then rubbed her back soothingly again, "The life of a Yakuza's daughter, our families are the biggest yakuza families in the city-"
He paused and pulled back lightly but Yumei clutched tighter and he felt his shirt was becoming wet, 'Oh, no. I-'
"Don't stop telling your story, Ooni... Tell me everything that I have believed which were lies..." Yumei said between her sobs.
"We have been trying to get you out of this life, your father, Jimin and I but since you started university the circle had grown."
Yoongi couldn't believe how easy it was getting to tell Yumei everything it was just falling from his lips, he felt Yumei's breathing was evening out, so the worst shock was over.
He continued, "Namjoon had never stopped looking for you since you have met and he hadn't bargained to be pulled back into the yakuza, Namjoon is my cousin by blood."
Yumilei didn't answer as she eased on her grip of his shirt, "We didn't know until recently and your cousins, Hoseok and Jimin have been by your side in the shadows."
Yumei pushed back a little to look Yoongi in the eye, "They are my cousins?" she asked in a teary voice.
Yoongi's tears had stopped but hers were flowing like rivers, "Yes, they are and Yumei they love you very much. So these past few months we have been trying to free you from all of this hurt."
"Get me out of a life I had not known that I had?" She let go of Yoongi's shirt and wiped her tears away with frustration.
"Yes... We had hoped that it would not have been needed that you would know but... With Jin's plan happening the day after tomorrow- I just had to tell you." Yoongi took her hands from her face, he wanted her to let the tears out.
It always helped to let them out and start the healing progress, "Everything we have done was for you, Mei-mei. Every single thing and Namjoon is out of his mind since you went missing."
She blinked through her tears at him, "I miss Joonie." Was all she had said, Yoongi gripped her hands tighter, "We love you Mei-mei and-"
"Who is my mother, Ooni?" Yumei interrupted, with so much information at once she forgot to ask the question that was in her heart.
Somehow she had known that Riyu wasn't her mother, she stared at Yoongi waiting for his reply.
He licked his lips, "Your mother was Yunari Kazuma my mother's best friend since childhood."
Yumei nodded and averted her gaze, "Where is my father? You haven't mentioned to him near the end of your story."
Yoongi gulped slowly, the colour drained from his face, "Your father died on the night of the party."
He felt Yumei stiffened in his hands, her gaze snapped back to him, "My father is dead?"
Yoongi nodded, "Yes, I am so sorry... I-"
Yumei shook her head, "You didn't kill him, but what do you being here have to do with me being here?"
