Chapter 20
And he wanted to confess, he wanted to say that he was sorry for the way he left things between them when they were younger and how he never said goodbye.
He decided to glance up and his eyes met hers, he couldn't avert his gaze. Her blue-grey eyes captured him the same way as it did eight years ago.
"That is all of you! Okay, let us proceed to the sports grounds."
Unmei blinked, her lips parted but she closed them, she turned her gaze from him and they followed the rest of the group.
Yumei glanced backwards but couldn't see Yoongi she noticed that they were exiting at two different doors. 'What is going on?'
One of her worst fears came to life, she was getting separated from Yoongi. Yoongi weaved his way through the group to the front, he was careful to avoid Unmei.
He didn't know what would be worse, him in a group with the girl he left hanging eight years ago or sticking to Yumei's side and face his brother.
Yumei was his priority and not just because he was her bodyguard, it was due to her weak immune system that he had to be at her side. If something happened to her he wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
"Mr Jung?"
Hoseok turned to him, "What can I help with, Mr Shoma?"
He had to face his fear, maybe his brother wouldn't realise that it was him. "I wanted to ask if I can switch to Mr Kim's group?"
The expression he saw on Hoseok's face was one of confusion. "Why do you want to change groups, Mr Shoma?"
Yoongi licked his lips, "My friend Yuki Dodjima has a weak immune system and I-"
"Mr Shoma, you are both adults now. I am sure she would be able to take care of herself." Hoseok smiled at him, "If it will ease your worry, I will let Mr Kim know."
That was not going to ease his worry at all, he wanted to be there so if something went wrong she would have a friendly face to help her.
He had to try until he said yes."Mr Jung, all of her medication is with me." That was a lie when Yumei asked for her bag, he gave her his which had all her medication and extra water in it.
The bag he had now was the lunch his mother made them with additional water in it. Hoseok blinked at him, "I will hand over her bag for you, Mr Shoma."
Yoongi bit back the anger that built up in his veins. He had to keep his cool, "It would be appreciated so much." Yoongi's words had a bite to it, but it didn't bother Hoseok. "You can check on your friend when we compete against Jin's group."
Hoseok held out his hand. "The bag?" Yoongi gave him the bag reluctantly, Hoseok smiled as he took the bag. "I'll make sure Miss Dodjima get it."
They continued out of the left door, Yoongi fell to the back of the ground and sent a silent prayer. 'Yumei, don't over excess yourself.'
Namjoon stood in front of Tae with his mouth agape, "Friends? Not likely, I think he is her bodyguard."
Tae rolled his eyes. "You, really have an overactive imagination, Joonie."
"It is not my imagination, I am telling you this as fact."
"Then present the evidence." Tae walked around the mustang and picked up Namjoon's notebook.
Namjoon scratched his head, "He is to close to her and he told me to stay away from her."
Tae turned to him and held out his notebook. "That can mean anything, Joonie. If he is so close to her maybe he is her boyfriend."
Namjoon took his notebook, his heart crumbled at the word boyfriend. "Then why tell me to stay away from her?"
"It is obvious! He is a jealous boyfriend."
Namjoon clutched his notebook tighter. No, he didn't believe that is the case. Yuki is Yumei and she is a Yakuza's daughter. That being true means that she would have to have a bodyguard to protect her outside of the estate. "I know you are wrong."
Tae clasped his shoulder with his hand. "Like I am saying to you, provide evidence that it is the case."
He turned from Namjoon, "Come let us get to class. I heard that the freshmen are going to do the Olympic games for initiation."
Olympic Games? Tae had started walking and Namjoon jogged to catch up to him. "Why are you telling me?"
Tae grinned to himself. "For an amateur detective, you are not looking at the bigger picture."
Namjoon bit his lip, his face lit up and he bumped Tae's shoulder. "So that I can snoop around?"
"Yes, a little birdie told me they divided the groups in alphabetical order so that means Yuki's bloodhound would not be around her."
They entered the university, Namjoon turned to the right and gave Tae a wave. "I'll see you at the club!"
Tae saluted him and turned left. He took out his phone and typed a message to Jungkook.
"How are you faring in your quest?"
He waited for ten minutes before the reply came.
"I am not the driver for the Kim family."
Tae snorted, he did tell him that it wouldn't be easy to get into the Kim family.
"So they threw you out?"
"No, they didn't."
Was Jungkook going to drag this out?
"So tell me already."
The message didn't come, Tae looked worriedly at his phone after 5 minutes there was still nothing.
He put his phone in his pocket and walked to the IT department. He was supposed to help the Professor with some workout sheets for the rest of the class.
He chose this class because he would blend in better as a student. He was the police department's hacker. Jungkook was their best spy, he knew how to blend in well.
Tae was a bit worried that he didn't reply to his message yet, this business with the Yakuza was a troubling one.
Yumei was beginning to panic, she looked around at the people around her. 'You have a light that draws people to you.' Her mother's words echoed in her mind.
Maybe this was the golden opportunity to try and make some friends. She bit her lip softly, she was a bit nervous and overwhelmed at the same time.
They weren't walking for long, the group paused and she almost connected with the person in front of her.
"My fellow freshmen, we are going to do some training and you'll be doing it in pairs."
Yumei blinked as her gaze lifted towards Jin. She noted that he was very handsome and the sun's rays hit his hair in such an angle that it looked like he wore a halo.
She looked past him and saw the other group, she let out a breath of relief, 'Yoongi wouldn't be too far from them."
"Okay, I'll be doing your pairings now-" There was a tap on his shoulder and Jin turned around, Hoseok was standing behind him with a bag.
"Give me a few seconds freshmen!" Jim turned his back on the freshmen. "Shouldn't you be busy training them?"
Hoseok held the bag towards him, "Yoongi asked to exchange to your team and I outright refused him."
Jin smirked. "Oh? Did he say why he wanted to switch?"
Hoseok leaned in closer. "Apparently Yuki Dodjima has a weak immune system and he wanted to be at her side."
Jin placed his fingers on his chin, "Interesting. Do you think this is true?"
"He lied to me about what was in his bag, so at this moment I can not confirm if it is true."
Jin took the nag from Hoseok, "It might be true if he is risking to switch to my group."
Hoseok grinned, "I see you are already planning on something aren't you?"
Jin slung the bag on his shoulder, "I am going to test that theory and you make sure Unmei and he ends up in the same team."
Hoseok's grinned grew wider. "Of course, I'll make sure that will happen. What about your plan?"
Jin turned slightly away from Hoseok and his eyes found Yumei who was looking down at her feet now. "I'll make her do a few laps to see if what Yoongi said was true."
"I'll leave you to your fun then, Jin." Hoseik returned to his side of the field. Jin turned back to them. "Alright! I am going to split you-"
There was a guy who stuck his hand up, "Mr Kim I have asthma and won't be able to-"
Jin interrupted him, that was smart of him to plant one of his basketball team members in the group to make them uneven. "Then you can sit out."
Jin's eyes turned on Yumei, 'Would she raise her hand too?' She didn't. "Thank you so much, Mr Kim!"
Jin nodded his head. "So let me decide your teams!"
He divided them up, Yumei was looking around with a hopeful expression, 'Did I make the right decision not to raise my hand?'. She thought about what Yoongi told her, she could do this if she willed it.
She wondered who she would be paired with. She saw Jim walking around between them, sizing them up and placing the compatible people together.
Yumei's face fell, she was the last one who didn't have a partner and Jim stopped in front of her. The first thing she noticed was that he had Yoongi's bag.
She inwardly thanked him in her mind, he was so thoughtful and that meant that he couldn't switch out.
"Miss Dodjima, because we are one player short I thought we can pair up."
Her eyes widened at him, 'He wanted to pair with her?' But there were a lot of other people he could have chosen.
"I will do my best, Mr Kim!"
He smiled, time to test his theory. "I think this belongs to you-" he slung the bag from his shoulder and held it towards her, "I believe a Mr Shoma sent it."
Yumei took the bag for him. "Yes, thank you."
Jin clapped his hands together. "Shall we get started at the track for a few laps?"
Running? She averted her gaze slightly. "Sure, we can do that."
Jin smiled and noticed she had another bag. "Why don't we put that at the side of the field?"
"Yeah, there is no way I would be able to carry both of them around."
"Can I help you carry them then?"
Yumei already slung the second bag over her shoulder. She blinked, "That is so kind of you."
Jim took a step closer, Yumei inhaled his cologne, he took the bags from her shoulders, he noted that the other bag was heavy.
'What was that cologne? It smells familiar.' Yumei gazed upward, he was close to close. Jim smiled at her and took a step back from her and she blinked.
"You can stay here, I will go place it there under the shade."
Yumei watched as Jin walked to the side to put her bags down, he was being nice to her. He returned with a bright smile, "So let us get our running faces on."
