Dearest ex-friends,
I hate you, Ian. Well, I did for a while after everything went sour. Because, slowly, I fell for you. The little hugs, the little smiles, and the teddy bear in my locker on Valentine's day. You had attached a note, asking if I would go to the Valentine's dance with you.
I said yes. Because, every girl wants her Prince Charming, does she not? I mean, you were there for me. I'd dated before, but never someone who made me feel so safe and secure, so happy. Okay, I'm getting too ahead of myself.
We went to the dance. You picked me up. Zoe rode along, insisting she didn't mind third wheeling (she was lying). I had picked out a special dress, and done my makeup and hair just right.
Zoe, you looked stunning, too. You found someone on the dance floor and left us alone.
At first, I refused to dance with my two left feet. But you insisted, claiming it was only one dance. And I followed you, swaying to the beat of the first slow song of the night.
And that's when you kissed me, and that was the start of everything turning to hell.
Remember,
Laila
