II. The attack
MATILDA MALFOY RARELY GOT SCARED.
However, tonight was different. She told her father she had to go to the loo, since she was holding it all night, not wanting to miss a game. By the time she had finished (since the lines were so long), everything was different. Her father and brother were nowhere to be see waiting for her, and she heard god awful screams, all around her. Quickly walking around, trying to find the familiar blonde hair men, she noticed there were flames all around the tents, people were being threatened and muggles that were around sadly were being killed and tortured.
Taking a deep breath, she started to push her way through the crowds. Maybe her father and brother were waiting for her near the woods, she thought. As she started to jog, she held her arms tightly around her torso, not wanting any more people hitting her along the way to their safety. She quickly learned that the death eaters were the ones responsible for this. That is why she can't find her father. He was apart of this tragedy. She let out a yelp as a fire started near her. She was beyond scared. She was burning up from being near all the fires that started to happen, she had bruises forming where people had hit her from running away, and she felt like she couldn't breathe properly.
As she turned around, trying to find a different direction to avoid the death eaters that were coming closer, she accidently tripped and let out a cry of pain as she fell to the ground. All the pain that was forming all around her quickly formed to her left ankle. She didn't know what to do. So, she just laid on the ground, curled up in a fetal position, holding onto her ankle while she let out tears of pain as some people didn't care that a young girl was lying helplessly on the ground. Some people even accidently stepped on her leg, or her hair which added to the pain. She didn't know how long she laid there.
It could've have been twenty minutes or an hour.
"Ginny! Stay by Fred." Ginevra Weasley, the youngest Weasley child and the only daughter of Author and Molly Weasley nodded her head, not wanting to separate from her older brothers. As Fred, George and Ginny were running to the portkey, George spotted a girl laying on the ground in pain. To his surprise, it was the girl who had been on his mind all night. Sitting on his knees, he quickly yet gently pushes the long blonde hair out of her face. He could see some tiny cuts from most likely hitting the ground when she fell.
He could see her lip quiver so he knew she was alive. "Malfoy." He said, rubbing her arm gently. She didn't move.
"Malfoy," he said once again. Since she didn't say anything, George looked towards Ginny and Fred. "What are we supposed to do? We can't leave her here." Ginny looked towards Fred. She never really knew the girl, expect she has heard stories from the twins. Fred pulled Ginny out of the way as a family ran by them, not wanting her to get hurt. "Help her up, let's take her to the portkey." George nodded. Man, he hopes she wouldn't be mad at him.
"I'm just getting you to safety. Can you walk?" He asked, looking into her eyes. He never noticed this before, but she had very beautiful blue eyes, which reminded him of the ocean. "No," she said as George nodded. Still standing on his two feet, he gently helped her off the ground, which she winced in pain to. Ginny had to look away, she hated the sight in front of her.
"It's okay. We're taking you to safety." The girl hissed making the trio in front of her step back, not really sure of what to do in this situation, when people are running all around them. "It's my ankle, Weasley." She said, as Ginny let out a sigh of relief. "I think I either sprained it or it broke when I fell down." Ginny looked towards her two brothers, with a glare for the both of them, "she can't walk by her self, idiots!" For the first time up close, other than earlier, the Weasley siblings saw a genuine smile from the Malfoy girl.
"Right," Fred mentioned as he made sure Ginny stood close by, to help them if needed. What the twins didn't know was that Matilda could tell them apart. She always could after their second year of Hogwarts, after the whole prank war battle. George was the one helping her since the beginning, and for some strange reason, she felt something different inside her, something she has never felt before. Whatever it was, it made her feel warm and slightly better. George was on her left, and Fred was on her right, with the two of them helping her walk, and Ginny clearing an entrance for them they were able to get to the portkey, where their father told them to go in the first place.
Hell, all this time, Matilda was anxious. She could already see the look in her father's face if he ever saw the Weasley's and his daughter together, literally hand in hand. He would be angry, that's for sure.
"Thank you, all of you." Matilda said as they made it to the woods. Ginny spotted their dad, waiting anxiously as ever, however when he spotted his twins helping Matilda Malfoy, he grew concerned.
"Miss. Malfoy... Are you okay?" Matilda shook her head no. "No, sir. And you can call me, Matilda. I'm not too fond of my last name," she added on. "We found her on the ground, in pain. It's her ankle." Mr. Weasley nodded at his son.
Ginny looked around. "Dad. Where are Harry, Mione and Ron?" She asked as he sighed. "They're not here yet. Miss. Matilda, where are you family members?" Matilda let out a laugh. "I have no idea sir, I think they left me here." This hurt George. Even though Matilda may not have a happy relationship with her family, it was still cruel for her father to leave her here.
"Okay. Fred, George and Ginny, I am going to apparate you four to the burrow. When I return with everyone else, Miss. Malfoy I will floo yourself and me to Malfoy manor, is that okay." She nodded. This time, she didn't even care about being sick from taking a portkey, all she wanted to do was sit.
However, she knew her father would murder her himself if he found out she was going to the Weasley's home. Something was different when they appeared at the house. It was different than her manor, but it looked like the Weasley's actually loved to live there. That made Matilda a little jealous. She wished she had that too.
George looked to her as he and Fred were still helping her to the door. "It's not much, but it's home."
Matilda Malfoy hasn't even been inside their home yet, but she never wanted to leave their property. Their house was a beautiful sight for Matilda. It made her sad that she would have to go back to her manor in a few hours.
