Change Things Up - DARK/LIGHT SIDE AU (pt.1)
"Mom," Virgil said. "Can I ask you a question?" He said and sat at the table. It's been a week since he left his room, other than for school, to shower and to smoke pot with his pal.
"Sure." Dee said. Dee was happy that he was finally eating at the table with Virgil again. Virgil started eating in his room a lot more - especially ever since Virgil and Dee had a pretty gruesome argument.
"Did I ever have a dad?" Virgil asked and poked a fork into his bowl of noodles on the side of his actual food. Deceit inhaled, knowing that if he didn't tell the truth Virgil would loose it again. "Yes, you did." She said. Virgil made a motion with his mouth, like he was saying 'oh', but no sound came out at all.
As Remus drank his strawberry Fanta soda, they sat in silence. "How come I look nothing like my brother?" He asked. Deceit felt a wave of anxiety through his body. "Your father and I were expecting twins. You were a surprise."
Virgil scoffed.
"I have another sibling?" He asked, looking up. Deceit nodded, she didn't look up from her phone, as she was reading a news article. "And my siblings is..?"
"A boy."
"Can we - I don't know - maybe meet them?"
Deceit and Remus started to laugh uncontrollably. Making Virgil feel like an idiot. Remus snorted, his face was red from laughing. Virgil just looked at his jello, noodles, corn, rice and orange chicken. "This food doesn't go together - like me and my fucking family." Virgil said to himself. "You're kidding, right, Virgie?" Deceit asked after calming down from her laughter.
"What's so bad about them?"
Deceit chuckled, ending his laugh with a warm smile. "Honey, they're horrible. Your father used to express his emotions through physical reactions. There so much to process with him," Dee chuckled, "thank God I divorced him. We divorced on December 19th, 2003."
Virgil gulped. "My birthday."
"Virgil, you're not in his horrible world. You're in mine. Why do you think we go to special schools, stores and talk to special people?" She said and went to put her plate in the sink with Remus.
"We love you - understand you - accept you - raise you and even nurture you -" Deceit and Remus said. "I divorced him for your own good."
"My own good?!"
Deceit nodded. "Now come over here and give mommy another beer."
Virgil stood up and pushed away from his seat, walking to the front door. "You're making me live an unbearable life because you're scared I'll accept myself for who I am?!" He asked and shook in anger. "You never told me I had a dad - even after everyone at school made fun of me for not knowing mine?!" He yelled and walked forward, feeling his heart pumping harder than it had before.
"Virgie, it's not like that-" Deceit said and tried to hug him, "I was protecting you from the cold, harsh, terrible world!" Deceit said and tried to hug Virge - "Please, give mommy a hug - "
Virgil jerked his arm away. "No!" He screamed. It was loud, echoing and scary. It sounded like someone was murdered. "Oh darling, please," Deceit tried his hardest to talk to him. Virgil couldn't see it, but his eyes color was changing. They went from his soft cinnamon brown to a glowing violet. When he jerked his arm away it would've been harsh enough to him to break every glass in the house, but it didn't, only because he wanted to limit himself.
"You think I wanted you to be so helpless and miserable?" Deceit screamed back - his eye color was changing. From brown to glistening yellow. Four more arms came from his body, and his tongue was transforming into a snake tongue. "Mom." Virgil said in a deeper tone, one that sounded gloomy and serious. Sort of intimidating, too. "What the hell is wrong with you." He said. No, it didn't sound like a question. It sounded like a demand to tell what's going on.
"I-" Dee tried to get a lie together.
Virgil sensed a lie. After 5 seconds of silence, he just let his mind take over. Virgil hit him over the head with a vase, but his hands weren't touching it. Yes, he controlled it with his mind.
