Part 33
We spent a lot of time doing whatever Anju wanted to do, as for me I couldn't stop worrying and thinking she was going to leave us anytime soon but as for her, she was enjoying everything happily as if she had no idea that she was going to die soon.
I wish I had as much strength as her, I just dint want to lose her and I hoped there was going to be a miracle that would save her, what was I going to do in life without her? She was so important to me.
"Hey, do you want to call your dad?" Khushi asked.
"It's not like he's going to care, he never has." I shrugged.
Anjali dint like him anyway, whenever she saw him she got scared and he was never a father to her or me so calling him at this point wasn't even necessary.
Right now we were seated in the house after Anju decided she had had enough fun so she needed a bit of rest.
We all had gathered in her room, she was lying in Kabir's lap talking to him about something while Khushi and I sat there having our own conversation.
"Are you hungry? I should cook you something." I said as I stood up.
"Arnav if you need privacy to cry you can say it clearly, no one is going to judge you." Anju teased me.
"This isn't funny Anju." I looked at her seriously, I dint like how she was taking all this as a joke, for me it wasn't, it meant losing my favorite person, losing my only family, I had lost mom long ago and dad was well, never dad so the only family I had was her.
"This is life Arnav, shit happens, accept it and move on." Anju said.
"Would you be able to move on if I was in your place? If I was the one dying?"
"I would try to, you have Khushi with you now, at least I know I'm not leaving you all alone, and why are you angry on me Arnav, it wasn't like I was given a choice. Do you think I want this? Do you think I want to leave you and Kabir? No! But it's not in my control so the least I can do is accept it."
My younger sister was more mature than me, honestly I had no idea how she managed to do all this, I couldn't, I was literally breaking down.
"I'm sorry, it's just that I'm scared of losing you." I pouted.
"I know Arnav, so am I, I might not show it but deep down I'm scared of dying too." She said sadly, I rushed towards her and pulled her into a tight hug.
"Please don't leave me." I broke down, all this while I was trying really hard to be strong but I just couldn't be, this was hurting me more than anything.
"I'll always be around in your memories. Now go cook me something, I'm hungry." She said as she broke the hug and looked at me.
I nodded as I stood up and headed out of the room, Khushi came along to help me as we left Anju and Kabir to spend some alone time together.
"So, do you need any help?" Khushi asked.
"Not really, maybe you can chop the vegetables while I make the rest of the preparations." I said, she nodded as she walked towards the fridge, got the vegetables and started chopping them while I did the rest of the work.
It dint take me long to cook, in half an hour I was done, once I was done, I left Khushi to set the table while I headed to get Anju.
"Let's go eat." I said as I walked in, she looked really weak it was getting me more and more scared.
Kabir and I helped her stand up as we took her outside, we all sat together at the table and ate together, I couldn't stop thinking that maybe this was the last time I was eating with her, and that just broke my heart.
"You always cook such yummy food." Anju smiled at me as she continued eating.
"I know right, I should become a chef in the future." I tried to joke.
"Lucky Khushi, she won't ever have to cook." Anju added.
"I know right, lucky me." Khushi smiled.
After that no one really talked, we all just finished eating silently, once we were done, Khushi and Kabir got busy cleaning up, Anju said she needed to rest so I took her back to her room and tucked her in the bed.
"Rest now, if you need anything call me, I'll be just outside okay?" I said, she nodded.
"Just so you know, no matter what happens, I love you bro, you mean everything to me." She smiled.
"I know Anju, I know." I sighed as I kissed her on the forehead and then headed out of her room letting her get a bit of sleep.

Khushi, Kabir and I sat in the hall watching TV for the rest of the time, but no one really seemed to be concentrating on the movie.
I grabbed Khushi's hand and held it into mine tightly, she just looked at me and smiled.
"Can I ask you a question?" I asked.
"Sure anything." She nodded.
"You told me about your ex-boyfriend Sid right? The one that came back and tried to kiss you. Do you still have feelings for him?" I asked.
"Why would you ask that?" She looked at me in surprise.
"I'm sorry, I promised you could talk to me about anything and I'd understand but I just can't stop wondering now that I'm in this position. I am scared you'll leave me like Anju is and I'm going to end up alone." I said sadly.
I was really trying to understand her here, and it wasn't that I dint trust her, I just dint have the strength to lose anyone important to me again, and if Khushi almost let that guy kiss him, then it must mean something right?
"If I wanted to leave you, I wouldn't tell you about it all Arnav, I told you so you could help me like you said, trust me I'm trying to make us work just as much as you are. Right now I don't know what I feel for him, but I do know what I feel for you, and its love and I don't think I'd just leave someone I love like that right?"
"I know, I'm sorry I'm just so sad I can't think straight." I apologized.
"It's okay Arnav, I understand." She smiled as she held my hand tighter.
"It's been long, should I go wake Anju?" Kabir asked.
I looked at my watch and realized she had been asleep for over two hours so we needed to wake her up.
"Yeah I think we should wake her up." I nodded as the three of us stood up together and walked to her room, she was still deep asleep.
Kabir walked towards the bed and shook her lightly trying to wake her up, but when she dint respond, he looked at me nervously, I ran towards the bed quickly and tried to wake her up too but she wouldn't respond to me either.
Kabir's eyes had already welled up, I kept on shaking her trying to wake her up but she just wouldn't and at that moment, I felt like my heart was going to stop beating, there was nothing painful as this, learning that she was no more.
"Guys please stop shaking her like that, she's not going to wake up." Khushi looked at the both of us seriously.
"She has to wake up, she can't leave just like that." I said angrily
"She already left Arnav, I know it's painful but we knew it was going to happen eventually, please try to be calm."
I dint even know what to do now, I tried to speak but my voice wouldn't just come out, I lost my sister, I freaking lost my sister! It was too painful to accept.
"Anju, please wake up." Kabir said as tears rolled down his eyes, the both of us sat there crying and trying to wake her up while Khushi tried to console the both of us, I knew she was breaking down too but she also knew if the three of us broke down together there will be no one for us, so she was trying to be strong for Kabir and I.
She pulled the both of us out of the bed and hugged us together.
"It's going to be okay." She said as she kept on holding on to us.
