Chapter 13: Decision

From the first day I saw you, you had me. I was yours.•

My head bangs against the table, causing a loud deep thud to resonate throughout the large conference room I'm in.

"You know, the whole point of me moving here was to try and to remove myself from the drama, the complicated bull shit that seems to invade every aspect of my life." I ground out before slowly raising my head up. I scan over the small crowd, eyes narrowing on each and every one of them. "But now not only do I have a crap ton of psychos on my ass, but I'm a mother fücking hybrid?!" I say in a hardly restrained shout. "What the hell is that even supposed to mean?"

"Enania," Damian's voice fills my ears. Big mistake buddy. My head jerks over to him, our eyes collide and I see him wince. Even with the mate bond softening the confusion, anger, and fear all trapped in my gaze, the look that hits him causes him to look away.

"What Damian? Is there more news?!" I say sarcastically, there couldn't be any mo- "Why the hell are you nodding your head yes? You're kidding right?! This is joke. My question was rhetorical! I didn't really expect more!"

"I'm sorry, Nia-" I raise my hand up to cut him off.

"Don't. Just-" I take a deep breath to try and calm myself. "Just tell me whatever else there is to know."

"Well if word gets out, more than it already is, and Hunter's catch wind of you and your Hybrid status, they'll be after you as well." His voice was calm, respectful even, but I can hear the fear for me in his every word.

"Okay." I breathe out, running my hands through my hair, gripping at the roots and tugging slightly. "Okay. Time to recap." I murmur before letting go of my hair, my hand immediately goes to my bracelet where I begin to twist it around in circles. "So, if our information is up to date and our informants aren't idiots, we have two major enemies on my tail. The Drakka, a Dark Sorcerer; and Grim, the Reaper of all Reapers. They are after me, with the help of some rogues and their own rebellious species. Their reasoning of pursuit; I am the only one to change the Peace Vote in their favor, which would be total destruction of the human race should they discover the supernatural world." I pause looking around to confirm what I have said so far to be correct. "Second, though not really our enemy, could potentially put me in the spotlight, allowing our actual enemy to take me out; the Council. They wish for me to take my father's seat and finish the Peace Vote. This has pros and cons; pros are I'd put an end to the Peace Vote and the search for the Ninth member would be put to an end." Before I can start cons, Damian speaks up.

"Cons, your every move is published to the supernatural world, every set of eyes would be on you. Nothing private, secret, or secure; the enemy could get to you too easily." His con, while valid, stir up some tension we'd previously set aside.

"While that may be true, the Council has more security than the President of the United States. Imagine if she does let the Council find her," Robert begins, his serious blue eyes meeting my own. I could tell he's concerned for me, but I also understand me being here put his pregnant wife in danger. "Not only is she the Heiress to Fenbella Moon, But she's the Ninth Seat holder, and the last living known Hybrid. No one could even think about getting near her."

"He has a good point, Son." Rick speaks up, his eyes colliding with his son's.

"Bull shit he does. Anyone that was determined enough could get to her, especially with her every move publicized." His eyebrows are stuck in a permanent scowl. "And the security? Look at what happened to her dad." My heart stops, as I quickly jerk my head up to lock eyes with him. I can see he was sorry, but he looks so fierce I know he'd say it again.

"Damian," Janet says, her eyes gently meeting my own worriedly. Mrs. Pots grabs my hand, effectively stopping the hand that has been twirling my bracelet around and around in circles. "Maybe we should move on?" She suggests, eyes narrowing on the men who wanted to continue this argument.

"Yeah," My voice cracking has me stopping to clear the lump in the throat. "Yeah." I try again, more firmly. "Our third problem," I begin eyes staring at the table as if it's the most interesting thing in this room. "Hunters. If they hear of my existence I'm screwed." I say seriously looking up and giving Robert and Makenna an apologetic smile. "While I agree that the Council has more than enough security to possibly hold off the Grim and Drakka until I can end the Peace Vote," Damian growls, not liking me even considering the option of allowing the Council to find me. "Hush." I say fiercely, eyes meeting his in a challenge. His wolf side rises from the back of his mind, craving to be let out and put me in my place. We both stand at the exact same time, chests heaving as our eyes stay locked, anger rolling off our coiling muscles. Where he had brute strength, I had an elegant lethality; two forces that could cause some serious damage.

"Enough! Both of you!" Janet says, her words snap both my mate and I's heated stare at the same time. We jerk our heads to look at Janet as she stands, a hand on her husband's shoulder while she looks away from her son scowling. Her eyes meet mine as she smiles gently, "Continue your thoughts, please."

I puff out my cheeks before falling into my chair, my hand immediately going back to fiddle with the bracelet. "As I was saying, while they might be able to hold off Grim and Drakka long enough to finalize the vote, therefore sealing all species under the law of the Goddess, I doubt they'd be able to protect me from the Hunters." Damian relaxed realizing I wasn't giving in to the idea of the Council. "From what I've heard from you all, and from what I've gathered from the books they aren't the kind to quit. They'll be after me for the rest of my life all because I posses a dormant Hybrid gene, and quite honestly?" I look up from the green and blue bracelet I hold so dear to my heart. "I'm sick and tired of the absolute bullshit that seems to plague my life and those around me." With my words I lift my head to sweep the room briefly connecting my gaze with every single person.

"As you all know," I begin locking my brown eyes with Damian's grey blue eyes. "I gave your future Alpha a single month to prove to me I could make it here, make it as his mate and Luna to this pack." All of them seem to suck in a breath of air. "Over the past month I've discovered I not only have the potential to become Luna but I'm born an Alpha Female, capable of ruling my own pack." Damian lets out a growl, I ignore it and keep his eyes locked with my own. "Recent discoveries bring to light that I have the last known Hybrid gene, that of a Wolf and Elf." My hands squeeze into fists as I continue. "While my life here was supposed to finally be peaceful, it seems I've brought the chaos here; endangering you all, the people who I'm meant to help lead. Look what happened to my last pack," I say chillingly emotionless. "They're dead and I ran."

"Nia-" Coral begins, eyes filling with tears. I glance at her willing her to be quite as Connor wraps his arms around her to silence her guilty tears.

"So here I am faced with an even more pressing issue, only this time I'm aware of the consequences for each choice." My voice is unwavering as I turn my head back to see Damian trembling to keep control of his animalistic side.

"And what, might I ask, are your options?" Damian inquires stiffly.

"Run." I begin with, my lips quirk up as Damian's body jerks as if it's fighting to get to me to stop me from fleeing.

"And it's consequence?" Mrs. Pots speaks up. I look to her and smile sadly at her.

"I disappoint everyone here, there, everywhere." I say stiffly. "The Peace Vote continues to be on hold while the Council searches, bringing the tensions between the species to an all time high. The Grim and Drakka rake the earth looking for me. The Hunters disappear however, leaving that aspect safe."

"Next option?" Says a hopeful male voice I look over and smile gently at James as he holds his wife. Next to them are Tommy and Ryan who look worried at the whole situation.

"The Council," I begin the consequences without needing to be asked. "End Peace Vote, that's assuming I survive the threat of Grim and Drakka, but bring on Hunters in my life."

"Go on." Ryan murmurs trying to keep the indifference in his voice strong, even when I see his nervousness.

"Stay; risk all of you, all of the pack I'm meant to protect, all for my own safety." I whisper harshly.

"But you'd be with us, the Hunters won't find out about you and if they do we'll fight them too. The Council can't force you into the Ninth Seat, if you decline the offer you can disappear." Damian says seriously.

"Word of me has already spread, rumors will stay. I can't ever disappear again, not while I'm here, in this world." I argue back. "So I've made my decision." Everyone freezes, mouths that were open to argue a point snap shut as they wait for my choice. "I'm saying 'fück it' and coming up with my own choices." This has them frowning in confusion.

"I'm taking my birthright of the Ninth Chair, in secret. My existence and whereabouts will be on Need To Know basis. The Council will fake finding a suitable Chairman for the public eye but I will hold the power." All their eyes find mine, shock mingling with confusion as I continue. "The death of the rumored Fenbella Moon Pack Heiress will die when my 'body' is found." The complications of this plan is hitting them all hard. "Damian, having found his mate will take over his pack, continue to teach at the high school, and protect his pack. His mate you ask? A simple runaway Rogue." At the end of my speech questions are thrown to me.

"How do we know who knows of your true heritage?" Tommy.

"Will the Council agree?" James.

"Who the hell is gonna show up dead?" Coral.

"What of Hunters? They've heard rumors, what makes you think they'll stop?" Makenna.

"Enough." I say calmly, eyes meeting Damian in surprise, for he hadn't uttered a single question. That's when I see it; he's relieved. Pure and simple, to him I'm staying and that's all he cares about. "Tommy, the only people who are truly aware of my heritage are in this room, everyone else assumes Damian is just an overprotective mate that assigns body guards." I say rolling my eyes at said mate, who simply shrugs cheekily.

I turn to look at James fully, eyes meeting his not in challenge but in seriousness. "They will, or I'll make them." My threat spoke volumes, but I shrugged before continuing on in a light hearted voice. "But I doubt it will come to that; from what I've read they're sticklers for tradition, even if tradition will have to be secret." Now Coral's turn. "We will figure that out when the time comes, but I promise no one innocent will come to harm. Now the issue of the Hunters," I say looking to Makenna. "If they heard of me and if they eventually hear that I am a Hybrid, I'm sure the rumor of my confirmed death with catch up to them as well."

"How the hell does your mind come up with this shīt?" Tommy exhales, eyes alight with hope and excitement.

"Beats me." I say teasingly, finally letting a slow grin crawl onto my face.

Damian's POV

"Your beauty beseeches me!" I declare, in a dramatic whisper.

"You idiot, it's pitch black," came the voice of my annoyed, yet possibly flustered, mate.

"Awe don't be like that Nia." I tease, snatching my arms around her and pulling her to me. She lets out a surprised squeak, wrapping her arms around my neck to stabilize herself. I chuckle and nuzzle my head in the crook of her neck and shoulder.

"You're lucky Mrs. Pots was too tired for the drive home." She grumbles out, our breaths mingling as she turns to me. Her nose brushed against my own, our breath hitching in rhythm with hers.

"Oh I'm very lucky and grateful." I murmur placing a kiss onto her forehead. "I'm also very lucky that all the rooms just so happened to be occupied or not suitable for living." I say a thing stretching my lips against her soft skin. She groans at my words, playfully pinching my side.

"I knew that wasn't a coincidence!" She says, my eyes now adjusted, thanks to my heightened wolf sense, see her almost glowing brown eyes. Her pale skin was smooth, almost ethereal looking.

"God you're beautiful." I say completely in awe of the goddess before me. I see her cheeks flush a deep red as she jerks her hair in front of her face. I tsk, trailing my left hand up from holding her waist secure, to her delicate jaw, where I gently tuck the hair behind her ear allowing me to look at her some more.

"Damian," She whispers, her voice soft.

"Hmm?" I murmur, half distracted as I place soft butterfly kisses along her collarbone.

"Damian." She says again, more firmly but dare I say, a little breathless. I look up, my eyes slowly connecting with hers. I see fear, confusion, but I also see passion. She parts her mouth slowly, her swift tongue darting out to wet her slightly dry lips. She takes a deep breath, lashes lowering as she looks up at me, innocence radiating off of her.

Goddess I wanted her, all the blood was rushing to one particular member of my body. Feeling myself against her I was almost embarrassed by my lack of control, but when her eyes widen in surprise, mouth shaped into an 'O' I'm grateful for the small amount of control I do have. My hands, which now find themselves at her hips, grip them tightly. She looks to sway subconsciously closer like a magnet was drawing us nearer. I squeeze my eyes shut to try and calm myself, but with her every move she wiggles her hips causing me to get even more, well, erm, firm. I smirk when I hear her gasp, alas I smirked too soon, for now it's my turn to gasp in surprise when I feel her chest grazing my own.

My eyes snap open locking onto her eyes, when I lower my gaze to her lips I almost groan; her bottom lip is gently captured by her pearly whites. My hands squeeze harder making her let out a breathless giggle.

"Damian." She murmurs again. I peak one eye open to connect with hers, just basking in the feel of her.

"Yes?" My husky voice causes her to shiver, sending more jolts of pleasure to my out of control body. My eyes leave her pink mouth which was forming into a smirk when I connect with her eyes to see a mischievous glint to them.

"I'm tired. Goodnight!" She chirps suddenly hopping off of me and climbing onto the bed. She crawls to the wall, allowing me a perfect view of those tiny little shorts covering that firm round- "Knock it off perv! Go take a cold shower and then you can come back." Her voice was teasing; she knew exactly what she was doing to me.

"You little vixen." I mutter standing up, quickly adjusting myself with a pout. "I didn't even get a kiss." I say as I make my way to my connected bathroom.

"There is always tomorrow." She says before yawning. I lean against the doorway, the soft yellow glow of the bathroom lights fill the room. She turns towards the wall before curling up, exposing her back to me.

"Beautiful." I murmur before turning around and indeed, taking a cold shower, and crawling back into bed; arms wrap around her tiny firm waist before pulling her flush into my chest. I press a gentle kiss against the back of her ear. "Beautiful." I murmur again before falling asleep with my life in my hands.
