Agent B's point of view
"Who is Savanna?" I asked all four of them and they looked at me. Luke was the first to shake his head, claiming he didn't want to tell the story.
"I-I'm not going to say, I can't." He said and then turned his attention back to the television. "Don't even ask us."
I narrowed my eyes at him and Calum cleared his throat. "Let's just say... this isn't the first time we've needed a bodyguard." He told me and I nodded.
"Savanna was Luke's ex, like I said before. She was also our past bodyguard and practically our best friend but she died while saving Michael's life." Ashton said and I nodded.
"Don't cry." I said, a bit disgusted at how easily they could be brought to tears. I huffed as Luke and Michael quickly wiped their eyes.
There was a knock on the front door and I turned my back on them. I held my gun in my hands and then walked to the front door slowly.
I opened the door and then swung it open, only to reveal a black and red haired girl with four pizza boxes. "I'd put my hands up but you know, pizza." She said as she looked right into the barrel of the gun.
"Who are you?" I asked and she carried all the boxes of pizza in one hand. She walked up to me and my finger grazed the trigger, but not having enough pressure to actually have the gun go off.
"You're the new one." She said and put her finger into the barrel of my gun, pushing it down. "I'm a friend, have been since their last bodyguard. Keep a gun out of my face or else I'll keep a gun in your face." She told me and I withdrawed my weapon, putting it in the holster on my waist.
"Rachael?" I heard Michael ask and I moved so he could see her. "You brought pizza too? Can I wife you already?"
"You're a few months too late." The girl said and walked in. I went to close the door but I saw a small green light in the flower pot.
I grabbed the camera and threw it on the floor, crunching it under my boots. I kicked the remains away and then walked back inside.
I closed the door and then locked it. I went back into the living room and then saw all five of them talking... about me.
"She's not." Ashton said and I pulled my phone out, leaning against the wall. I looked at my contacts, staring at a number with a mental debate over calling it.
I shook my head and then clicked it, not before that Rachael girl could talk to me. I stopped my finger and then looked at her, raising an eyebrow.
"Let me see an I.D." She said and I huffed. I reached into my pocket and tossed her the card. She caught it and then looked over it.
She flipped it around and then looked at the symbol pressed against the back. "It's legit." She said and handed it back to me. "Class A huh? With U.S Military experience?" She asked and I gave her a affirmative nod. "They allow women to serve their country through combat?"
"Yeah." I said as I pulled myself off of the wall so I could slid my phone into my pocket, along with my I.D. "Indeed they do, it's not the 1950's anymore, women have a majority of the same rights men have."
"That's the most she's spoke since the phone call with some girl named Analeigh." Ashton said and I glared at him. "So you served your country? You fought in a war?"
"Two tours. I was in two tours before I decided enough was enough, I couldn't do it anymore." I said and he nodded. "About two years I was there, it was horrific."
"How so?" Rachael asked, as if she was challenging me to tell her. As if it really wasn't that horrifying.
I looked at her, debating if I want to run through those memories again.
"A story I'll take to my grave." I told her and she rose an eyebrow at me. I pulled my phone out and turned around. "I have a phone call to make "
I walked away and then turned my phone on again. I immediately went to my contacts and clicked the numbet, holding my phone up to my ear.
"Agent." Her sick voice said and I leaned against a wall, crossing my legs. "To what do I owe this call to?"
"The band," I said and she laughed. "Why is the band so important to you? What have they done to you?" I asked and it went silent.
"There's no fun in it for you if I tell you." She said and I could just see her pouting. "Why would you ask me a question you know the answer to?"
"Cut the shit and tell me." I said, knowing someone was behind me. I could feel them staring at me. "Analeigh Reed-"
"Oh my god Ra-" She cut herself off and then ended the call. I looked at my phone answered turned it off, looking at whoever was behind me through the reflective screen.
"You." I said and turned around. I looked at the girl and she stood there with her jaw dropped. "Who are you?" I asked and grabbed the collar of her shirt.
She looked at me and then the guys came in as I clenched my jaw. "Who the fuck are you?" I asked her again, this time in front of all the guys.
"Agent B that's our friend, let her go." Calum said and I glared at him. He stopped walking towards us and I looked at Rachael once again.
She punched me in my nose and I stumbled back. "Touch me like that again, I dare you." She said and I smirked a bit, wiping away the blood I felt drop from my nose.
I grabbed her by her hair and then twisted it around my fist for a better grip. The boys stood back and I nearly threw her against the wall.
"Who the fuck are you?" I yelled at her and she groaned in pain.
"I'm on your side, let me go or I will snap your neck." She said as I held both of her hands behind her back.
"I don't trust you and you listen to me right now, everyone I don't trust, ends up dead." I growled and she turned her head.
"Get off of her." Luke said and he pushed me off of the girl. "What the hell?" He asked me and I pointed at the girl.
"One wrong fucking move and it's lights out for you." I said and she glared at me. I turned my back on them all and went towards the front door, slamming it shut behind me.
"What the fuck was that Agent B?" I heard Ashton yell at me and I looked at the engagement ring between my fingers.
Letters were engraved into the back but before I could look at them carefully, someone was grabbing my arm. I glared at the boy and clenched my jaw.
"Hands. Off."
"I know your job is to protect us but don't fucking screw our friends over. Rachael is our friend and she would never hurt us." Luke said and I pushed him, making him fall against his car and causing the alarm to go off.
"Shut up." I snarled and turned my back on him. I looked at the band of the ring and looked at what it said inside.
~ A and R forever and always ~
I held the ring in my hand and Ashton grabbed me. "Ask her who the hell A is." I said and slammed my hand against his chest, letting the ring go as I went to the backyard gate, hopping it easily.
"You fucking know what Agent B?" Luke yelled and I stopped. I heard the wooden gate shake and then shoes hit the pavement. "I'd rather die than have you around, harassing my friends and repeatedly turning your back on us."
"Then do something about it. You have a voice, use it." I snapped at him and looked at him.
"I will." He said and grabbed his phone. He called someone and I stood up straight, watching as he spoke into his phone. "Hello? Yeah, it's Luke... Hemmings. This is about Agent B-We don't want her around-"
I rose my eyebrow at him as his jaw dropped and his fists clenched. "What do you mean you can't just fire her? Why the hell not? She's doing more harm than-What the fuck?" He asked as he looked at his phone in disbelief.
His jaw clenched and before I knew it, his hand was smashing against the side of the house and he was screaming out profanity.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed his arm, but he just threw me off of him. I grit my teeth and turned him around, pressing him against the wall.
"Calm the fuck down." I said and grabbed his hand. He looked at me, his breathing shallowed and his eyes dropping from my lips to my green eyes. "Hemmings-"
"Fuck," he breathed out and pushed me away again. "You're not her." He told me and I nodded. "You're not her." He repeated.
He turned his back on me and as a reflex, my hand went straight to my gun. my fingers curled around the metal but I fought the urge to pull it out because he wasn't the enemy. He was the victim.
I squeezed my eyes shut and pressed my forearm against the wall, leaning my forehead against it. I took a few deep breaths and my mind raced.
-
"You're not like other girls," my trainer said as he wrapped the bandana around my eyes. I took a deep breath, following the sound of his footsteps, his voice, his breathing. "You're not into fashion, you don't chase after cute boys, you don't have a living best friend."
"Repeat it!"
I kicked my leg to the left and I felt hands around my ankle. I jumped and spun my other leg around before landing on both feet, my left leg outright and my right one bent.
"I am not like other girls." I spoke loudly into the small room, listening for his footsteps. "I am not into fashion, I do not chase after cute boys, my best friend is not a living person." I said and ran to the right, reaching out and grabbing a shirt.
He chuckled and he gripped my wrists, pushing me back. He spoke as I did a backwards flip, sticking the landing. "You are into killing," he said and I swung my right elbow back, hitting him in the stomach. "You chase after the target," he told me and I fisted his shirt, swinging him to the left, practically tossing the man. "Your best friend is your weapon."
"Repeat it!" He shouted and I stood still, hearing the scratch of a knife against the wall.
"I am into killing, I chase after the target, my best friend is my weapon." I said and I could feel him behind me again.
The sharp blade pressed against my neck but I stood still. "You are a cold-blooded killer, nothing will stop you from completing your given task." He spoke and I held his wrist, prying his knife from my throat.
"I am a cold blooded killer," I said, yanking my bandana off. I spun around and wrapped it around his neck, tightening the fabric and bringing him to his knees. "Nothing and no one will stop me from completing my given task."
"Very good agent." He said and I let go of him. He stood up straight but pushed him away from me.
"Never trust someone, allies or not." I said breathlessly and he laughed as he dropped his knife from behind his back.
"You're ready."
-
"Agent B?" Someone asked and I didn't even know I was crying until a salty taste appeared on my lips. "Are you o-"
"Don't touch me." I said and pulled my gun out. I aimed it and Calum held his hands up in surrender. "Don't touch me." I cried, my vision blurring and my grip on my gun shakey.
This is not what I was taught. This is not who I am. I don't cry. I don't show emotions. They're weakness. They allow others to walk all over you, to take advantage of you.
I'm heartless. I'm supposed to be heartless. I'm supposed to be ruthless. Heartless.
"Agent," Calum pushed my gun down and I dropped it, my hands shaking and my eyes squeezing shut. "If I-If I give you a hug, will you kill me?"
I didn't answer. I crumbled to my knees and pulled on my hair, breaking down right in front of him but I couldn't help it. "What am I doing wrong?" I cried. "I'm supposed to be emotionless."
"You're not." Calum said and gave me a hug. I tensed, but couldn't find it in me to push him away. "It's okay to show your feelings and it's okay to cry-"
"It's not!" I said and he rubbed my back. "My training-it-"
"You're human, you have a right to show and express how you're feeling." He told me and I shook my head, looking down at the concrete floor. "No training and no one could take away your right to feel emotions. You're a human being, not a robot."
I looked at the floor and shook my head, pointing to at specific part of my skull. "Right here," I whispered. I grabbed his hand atnd pressed his middle and index fingers against the area. "There's a-actually a-a chip."
"A what?" He asked and looked at me wide eyed. "Like a-a compu-"
I nodded and stood up. He looked at me wide eyed and I laughed, it was dry and humorless and it sounded like I was choking. "Why do you have a chip in your head?" He asked me but I shook my head.
"A-Another time." I said and he nodded. "Let's um, Let's go inside." I told him and he agreed.
