Target Period 12 Assassins' Summer Vacation [Part 03]

"Poisoned?!"

"Hey you! Where's the hospital on this island?" Karasuma asks a waitress who witnesses the scene.

"Uh... well, it's such a small island..." the waitress answers, worried and confusion plus hesitation could be hear from her.

Within this ruckus a call went through at Karasuma’s phone, it is an unknown number, yet despite their situation the teacher answers.

Caller: Hey, Teach. Your precious students seem to be in a real bad state.

The voice is filled with menace, just from it Karasuma could tell that the caller is smiling beyond.

Caller: Who I am doesn't matter. Those brats aren't the only ones going after that marked man.

Standing next to the teacher is Satsuki listens as soon as she catches how menacing the voice, her eyes are fixated at the cctv camera that is focused on them.

Caller: How observant. It's an artificial virus. Once you're infected, it's all over. The incubation period and initial symptoms vary, but after a week, the body's cells will be shredded, ending in death. There's only one remedy, likewise an original concoction; unfortunately, I'm the only one who has it. It's too much of a bother to give it to you, so you'd better come to get it directly.

As the person on the other line continues speaking with his sinister voice, Satsuki shows her phone to Karasuma.

Caller: There's a hotel atop this island's mountain.

It turns out that Satsuki's phone was able to track down the location of the caller.

Caller: And bring me the two targets with the bounties.

Everyone fails to notice the one-second-wide eyes of the brunette, instead what they see is the shock in Karasuma’s face. Kayano and the rest think that their teacher is shocked to know that there’s another person with bounty within them, not knowing the truth.

Karasuma’s sharp eyes fall to the short brunette next to him, also a pair of pill size eyes, a pair of cerulean and a pair of gold.

Caller: Come up to the top floor in the next hour. But Teach, you seem pretty tough. Dangerous, even. So, send your shortest male student still standing.

Karma frowns, while Karasuma takes Korosensei from Satsuki.

Caller: We'll talk at the front desk here. Follow the rules and we'll swap the targets for the remedy. But contact any outsider or be even a little late and the remedy will be destroyed.

I am thanking you for immobilizing him like that.

Looks like the gods are on our side.

That ends the call.

Furious, Karasuma slams the crystal balls on the table, "Uh, Karasuma-sensei…" sweating, Korosensei tries to talk with his co-teacher.

'A third party joining the fray at a time like this? Unbelievable! And he also wants Satsuki!'

"—aren't you being a little rough? Er..."

“Karasuma-sensei…”

The PE Instructor cuts in his thoughts by a low voice of his student next to him, smiling yet seems to be troubled, “By any chance, does Sensei aware about the second Bounty Target?”

Kaarasuma stares at her at first, “Yes." He pauses, "It’s you... right? Just what did you do to deserve “their” wrath?”

Satsuki chuckles ever-so quiet, enough getting no attention of anyone else but him, and the crystal ball teacher.

“Do I look like I will do something that could upset the well-known Angelic Mafia Boss?" Karasuma nor Korosensei has been able to answer, Satsuki sighs, "I've never told you before because it is unnecessary and quite dangerous, but I am actually working directly under the tenth boss of Vongola.”

“So, what’s with the bounty?” Irina joins the small meeting, Satsuki peeks at her and blinks.

"You're actually listening!"

"I am... So?"

“I tell you first, it’s not my boss who put that in my head, it is his father. He simply wants me to die. That’s all.”

“What the actual fuck!”

“Calm down Irina-sensei.” Satsuki then retrieves Korosensei from Karasuma, “Korosensei we can do something about this without making him troublemaker happy, right?"

A little later, an agent reported to Karasuma that their government influence cannot be used on the said hotel, while the healthy students have finished laying down their classmates.

"It does?"

"That mountaintop hotel is a noted site for illegal negotiations."

'Illegal? Ah yeah, that's right... this island is owned by Gesso…'

"A remote island in the southern sea? Couldn't ask for a better location." Irina said.

"They have connections with some government higher-ups—even the police are hands-off."

"Clearly they're not going to cooperate with us." Karma said, making Yoshida nervously ranting about dying, which Hara talks him down. On the other hand, Kayano brings a topic that she has been curious about.

"Ne, Karasuma-sensei..." Nagisa, Satsuki, Karma, Irina, and Karasuma turn their heads to her. "Who is the other target? The caller said 'two targets with bounties' meaning he's not only aiming for Korosensei, that there’s another person..."

"It's too dicey to do, is what he says? Send your runtiest male student? THESE squirt?!" Terasaka angrily said as he starts hitting Nagisa atop his head, making Satsuki who is serious earlier now has a sweat drop behind her head, though she's kinda thankful for his interruption towards Kayano's concern. "We just be handin' him a hostage!" Satsuki chuckles almost quietly, "First off, I'm pissed at anyone who would even do this kinda thing. No one lays a finger on my cohorts!"

‘That’s some change…’

"I say we ignore his demands and instead let's get everyone to Tokyo Hospital!" his suggestion made Satsuki sighs in disappointment.

"Here I thought you finally change, but I see that you still have scattered brain~" Satsuki chimes in, while Karma snickers.

"Huh?! What wrong with that Satsuki?!"

"That's impossible. We didn't know how fast the virus is spreading through their bodies or for how long is the virus been in their bodies, and going to Tokyo Hospital is a big risk." Her tone turns back to serious as while stating the facts.

"I agree with Kudou-san." Takebayashi joins in as he pushes his glass upwards "If it really is an unknown artificial virus, even the biggest hospitals won't have the antivirals to stop it. The time wasted in bringing in the sick could hurt them more. We'll work on treating the symptoms for now—you'd better hurry to the trade-off spot."

'Our hands are tied. If Korosensei could move, we might've had a chance... if only our assassination attempt hadn't gone quite so well...' Nagisa thought.

"There is a good way~" Korosensei suddenly pumps up, getting attentions from the nearest people. Nagisa's phone rings suddenly.

It's Ritsu.

"Korosensei? All set!"

“It looks like Ritsu-san completed the prep work I asked her to do. I need the healthy students to come here, and make sure to wear something that shows who you are.”
