Chapter 2

She walked into a café after an hour of walking away from the crime scene, making her way to a quiet street with an isolated café situated in the far corner.

Sitting at a table in the back, she took off her cap and tied up her hair into a pony and put the cap back on. She began humming the tune to Your Song by Rita Ora whilst waiting for someone to come take her order, and within less than five minutes a teenage girl with red hair was at her table.

"Um Hi, how are you today?" She smiled at her, and she nodded in return
"I'm good thanks, how about yourself?"
"Oh don't even ask" the redhead rolled her eyes with a sigh and glanced back at the other girls at the till for a second but then quickly turned back to her
"Can I take your order?"

The brunette squinted and looked at the girls at the counter who were giggling and staring at the redhead, and then looked up at her smiling

"A hot chocolate please"
"Anything else?"
"With cream"
"Okay, and I'll get you that within no time" she pushed back a strand of hair behind her ear and skipped off.

There was something wrong of course, because the way she was with the brunette was nowhere close to how she was with the others. It seemed as though they had some problem with the redhead... But oh well this wasn't her problem, was it?

With absolutely nothing to do, she just watched the redhead disappear into the back to make the hot chocolate, and the girls simply stared at her. But she was used to people staring at her, and wasn't an awkward person either. Infact, she was a crazy and clumsy hooligan on the inside, just a ghost from the outside.

Because that's who they were.

Ghosts.

With no identity, and no life. Simply assassins who killed for a living.

Killed for fun, killed for love, killed for revenge, killed for agendas, and killed for survival.

She snapped out of her thoughts as the redhead appeared again at the counter with a mug in her hand, and saw how one of the three who was a blonde remarked after her as she walked towards her table, and she realised how she wasn't walking properly either

"Careful you don't fall over those deformed feet, Emilia" and the other two cackled, making it sound like there was a whole witch clan (not forgetting the warts and ugly noses!)

Emilia stopped dead in her tracks with her back towards them, and a flash of shock and upsetness passed over her face.

"Aw, I think she's going to cry" the raven haired one stated and they burst into laughter again. Emilia blinked hard, probably to blink back the tears, and then put on a smile, making her way towards the table.

As she put down the mug on the table, the assassin, her detective skills being at their peak, realised that her hands were shaking, and then looked up at her

"You alright?"
"Yeah" she nodded in a whisper "I'll be fine, thank you"

Emilia had waited for a few seconds at the table, and it was obvious she was too awkward to ask if she could stay at the table because she hadn't wanted to go back.

"Sit down" the brunette tapped the table, and Emilia stared down at her
"Excuse me?"
"Sit down" she gestured opposite herself to the chair, and Emilia looked around nervously for a second and then sat down with a sigh.

And it was good for her, because she was sat with her back facing the counter, and the assassin was glaring at the girls who awkwardly spoke in whispers to one another. She then turned to Emilia, who was playing around with her ring on her finger.
" You engaged or married?" She started the conversation, and Emilia's face lit up
"Engaged"
"Congratulations"
"Thank you"

It was then quiet. There was nothing to say, and she was feeling a bit uncomfortable to ask about what they were speaking of, but Emilia spoke up as if reading her mind

"I've got a disability, it's called... Charcot foot?" She looked at her with a look that read you know what that is right? And the brunette just nodded for her to carry on as if she knew exactly what she was on about.

But clearly she understood, because then she explained
"It's a weakening in the bones when people have nerve damage, like me, and then slowly your feet start to change shape. My feet have started to change shape, and soon I won't be able to even walk anymore. And these lot like to say whatever they want to me because they know I won't say anything to them" her voice cracked.

"You should stick up for yourself. You can't let people walk all over you"

"I can't. I'm not like that, and there's not even one person here who's nice to me."

"So why don't you quit?"

"Nobody else will take anyone with a disability like mine."

The brunette bit her lip... What was she supposed to say to that?

Something she knew was that a person doesn't always need someone that talks to them and advises them, but someone to listen to what they have to say.

And it felt good, because she never had someone who she could talk to, and she wasn't allowed either being who she was, but she knew that she was gone from New York the next morning.

They spoke for so long, the brunette tried to avert her attention from all negativity, and halfway Emilia broke out into laughter as she cracked a joke about the blonde girl

"You're hilarious. And oh my gosh I'm so DUMB!" she slapped her forehead with a gasp.

"What happened?" She asked Emilia
"We've been talking for what half an hour?! And first of all I don't even know your name, secondly those lot will definitely tell Boss over me, who is just as bitchy as them, and will probably fire me." She glanced back at them glaring at them both as they watched them laughing and joking, clearly being able to hear the remarks the brunette spoke out loud enough for them to hear even when Emilia warned her.

"So what's your name?" She asked again, and the brunette looked at her lost.
"Huh?"
"Name. Your name." Emilia stated with a smirk emphasising on 'name'.
"Oh. My name" she bit her lip and concentrated. Why did all the names in the world seem to vanish whenever someone asked her name?

"My name... Is..." She looked at Emilia who stared at her in shock

"What? Have you forgotten your name?" She laughed at her, and she shook her head with a laugh
"Sorry no I just got caught up thinking about something. The name's... Erm... Kiera!" She yelled as the name popped into her mind.

"Kiera?" Emilia asked suspiciously.
"Uh huh. Love that name" kiera laughed off the awkwardness between them, and then felt like slapping herself. Of course you love that name, it's yours you nimwit!!!!

"Alright okay" she nodded "surname?"
"Why, are you planning on checking my DNA?" Kiera raised her eyebrows, saving some time to think of a bloody SURNAME NOW AS WELL!

But this was getting too fishy, so she had to hurry up and say something
"Knightley" kiera nodded "Kiera Knightley"
Wow, that was a good one. It actually suited the name too.

Now Emilia burst into laughter "And I'm Emilia Clarke, a pleasure to meet you" she put out her hand for Kiera to shake but was vibrating with laughter.

What? Emilia Clarke? But isn't that the actress?

Oh shit.

"Got you!" Kiera breathed nervously, attempting to sound like she was joking all along, trying hard not to bang her head on the window besides her table.

Why Kiera Knightley?!

"Yeah you got me all right" Emilia gasped for air and then nodded "Seriously what's your name?"

"Lilly" she smiled and then bit her lip trying not to laugh "And that's not Lilly Linton or Lilly James, but Lilly Anderson"

"Oh thank goodness I was actually waiting for you to say Donald Trump"

"Donal-- he's a guy! Ew!" They both laughed "plus, I'm clever enough to choose a girl's name, Emilia"

"Ooh yeah clever did you say, kiera knightley?"

"Shut up" she threw the café menu card at her face, and then a few minutes later Emilia stood up

"Thank you for everything, Lilly. For the first time in this café I had fun, and that's because of you. Will I see you again?"

"No worries. Erm... I'm not so sure, Emilia. I have to leave New York tomorrow morning"

"Well I'll see you one day then"

"Hopefully" Lilly smiled at her and then handed her the empty mug "That hot chocolate was amazing, who knows? Maybe I'll be back one day for one of these"

"Yeah not for me but for the hot cocoa that's fine I see how it is" Emilia dramatically wiped a non-existent tear and Lilly rolled her eyes sarcastically

"Of course!"

"Alright shutup now." Emilia glared at Lilly, and Lilly side hugged her with a laugh

"I'm joking I'm joking don't worry. Have fun, bye!!"

And she walked out of the café. But that wasn't all she did. She couldn't leave her in there for those losers to continue being such cows to her for something that's wrong with her ability. How dare they?

Within the next half an hour, Lilly was stood in the window watching proudly how the blonde was on her knees with a bleeding nose and hair yanked out of her not so sleek anymore bun, crying to Emilia who stood wide eyed looking down at her.

Lilly smiled and then looked in disgust at her hand as there was a ball of blonde hair stuck to it, then dropped it to the ground and walked away off into the distance.

She got a cab to a lone garage that was close to the highway, and then opened it with a key she had in her jacket pocket and stepped inside.

Stepped inside to see five sports cars stood, her hands itching to drive every single one.

There was a Bugatti Veyron, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Porsche 911, an Audi R8 and a red Maserati.

"Which one? Which one?" She circled them all, stroking their roofs and staring at them.

By night she was on the highway in the R8, wondering where to go with songs playing loud. The beach... The sun... The water...

But her thoughts were interrupted once again, by a familiar tone which rang on her phone.

It was from her workplace. And it was another target. She had another person to assassinate. 'Lilly' picked up her phone from the dashboard and switched the car to automatic.

Sitting back, she pressed accept to the target, and the ID appeared.
"Manhattan, okay" she nodded at the location, although she was hoping to have a few days off before the next mission.

But that was when she saw the name and froze.

Merleah Henderson.

Her childhood best friend. Who, bear in mind, thought she was dead.
