Chapter 17
Was this what hell felt like?
Why did it smell like cologne?
Lots and lots of it?
Then I recognised the ugly smell, and also realised that the place I was in wasn't Hell. It was much worse, and I didn't even have to open my eyes to notice that I was held captive by an evil warlord.
My left eye snapped open, and I saw the thing I'd never like to see after I wake up in the morning.
His face.
He stared back at me, and within a second I shot up, then wincing in pain as it all kicked in — the gunshot in my hip and the one in my leg. But something restricted me, and I made a face as I saw the handcuff on my right wrist.
I then saw that there was a bandage around my whole stomach, and my leg was bandaged up too.
Someone's being nice. How bipolar.
I looked over at him, and he was just sat there staring at me, no movement from the lips or from the limbs. Which made sense too, seeing as though he thought he was all sorted.
The room looked like a room from a horror movie, it was plain white, no furniture, just a bed in the corner of the room and a window on the opposite side.
How nice.
"So restless, aren't you?" Dominic moved forward ans rested his elbows on his knees, clasping his hands together as I just looked around, mentally finding ways to break out of the room I was in. I was half sat up, my free hand on my stomach and the other holding hands with the bed stand, my eyes scanning everywhere until they landed on his face.
I scrunched my nose
"It stinks"
He let out a gasp of laughter, running a hand through his brown hair that began growing
"I was getting perfectly used to the peaceful silence since you blacked out, but I guess–"
"How long have I been out?" I asked, surprised.
"Three days. And I have to admit, you look so harmless while you're asleep. No one knows how annoying you can be"
Three days...??!!!
"I've been out for three days? Wow" I scoffed, and then turned to him with a dirt
"Perv. You been staring at me all along? Haven't you got anything better to do?And who- oh my god, who dressed me?!"
"God, just go back to sleep. The meds are playing about with your brain, as if it wasn't messed enough" he remarked sarcastically and walked out of the room.
"Hey, come back here! You can't leave me here forever! " I yelled after him but he walked off, and I just sighed, freeing my hand from the handcuff and attempting to stand up from the bed.
My legs gave out under me and I fell onto the floor with a yelp, and my stomach felt like it was going to open as I touched it with my palm and blood spread across it.
All I saw next was my eyes drooping, and then a strong pair of arms lifting me just before I knocked back out.
My eyes fluttered open after what seemed like ages, but my head felt so heavy it felt like it was going to fall off my neck with the amount of sleep I had.
I moved my hand up to wipe it across my face, and then attempted to get up. Again.
As I stood up, I held onto the bedpost, and then let go of it, seeing if I could stand balancing on my own two feet. It worked, and then my head spoke up
Now comes the hard part.
Walking.
I took a step forward but was about to fall back however I didn't hold myself up with anything other than my actual self. It was a bit of a dance, but it worked. Step two. It worked.
Taking a deep breath, I began walking slowly, and walked two laps of the room I had been confined in. The door was locked this time and I had no handcuffs, which clearly meant Dominic did it the easier way.
I reached into my back pocket (he had taken off me all my guns and knives and daggers), but being a girl comes with its perks doesn't it?
Bobby pins. So harmless.
I unclicked the door lock after a single attempt and walked out of the room, looking around, holding the bent bobby pin tightly in my hand as if it was a weapon.
Lol.
It was eerily quiet everywhere. I poked my head into a couple of rooms and saw they were empty, and then found myself in the kitchen.
Naughty stomach.
But I couldn't distract myself with food. Not now, even though it's been three days, even more. I quietly snuck into the room that was half open at the top of a set of long stairs and to the right and then left, bringing a butcher knife from the kitchen with me.
Hayley was an assassin. And Hayley wasn't going to do anything stupid — I hope.
Sneaking in, I was amazed. It was nothing like the Tech room I had (any of them) except it looked a little like the one I had here, Jarvis and Alexa included.
My mind then growled at the rememberance of their names, especially Jarvis.
The wound in my stomach was screaming, but my leg was feeling better than before, the limp still there. And since I was three or four days hungry, my stomach was in agony. On the four walls there were weapons hung, AK 47, 4.5mm pistols and all other pistols, snipers, machine guns, etc.
And in the middle were all devices and computers, table screens and holograms. I hid a few guns in my pockets and walked upto the hologram on the table screen.
Guess what it was? A stunning picture of me with a smirk on my face, of course. Smoulder just wasn't a part of me I guess.
It read below
'The assassin that murdered Isabelle Blackthorn, and several assassins from The Base too. Isabelle was found mutilated in a shed in Chicago, the last person visiting her according to our records being Hayley Williams.'
"What bullshit" I breathed. I remembered every person I killed in these seven years, and if it was seven years ago then how did I mutilate a girl in my first year and not remember it as well?
Bullshit.
And then I sensed someone behind me, so I turned instantly, knife in hand. Or should I say, I thought it was a knife, but instead it was a bobby pin.
Clever, aren't you?
I glanced down at the bobby pin and then back up at Dominic who was wearing a black vest with black pants, stood a couple of metres away, then back down at the bobby pin and felt like slapping myself.
He had his eyebrows raised at me, sight fixed on the pin in my hand, that which I slyly but clearly threw onto the floor and took out a gun.
"Really?" He sighed, sounding bored.
"What do you mean 'really'? You shoot me, then bring me here and aid the wounds you gave me, and expect me to what - hug you?"
He smirked "No, I was kind of expecting a thank you and a kiss at the feet"
I scoffed sarcastically "Pfft. You can kiss my ass"
"I think I'll pass" he remarked.
"Good" I smiled, and then shot at his arm, the one I had previously shot at. He growled, all his muscles that showed tensing, making my stomach churn. Shut up, I told myself.
He reached down and looked at his bare arm, that was now crimson with blood. Dominic looked up at me, and I smiled again
"That was for what happened the other day"
He grunted "Well I made up for it, didn't I? I could've let you die, but I didn't you fat—"
"Oh yeah. Please do share why you didn't kill me. You had three days" I remarked.
"I don't know" he shrugged, staring down at his arm with his eyebrows knitted. Probably in pain, I'm sure I got a good vein.
"And if you're going to expect me to be at your feet for saving my life and me being forever in your dept... Take the thought out of your head just as you put it in. Got it?"
He stood there with his hands in his pockets, and my vision moved to the hologram on the table screen, to which I only glanced at for a second and then back at Dominic thinking
' Let me guess. You're going to give me in to the base, that's why you've kept me here, but you're going to torture me before you do'
Except, I had said that out loud as he huskily chuckled, leaning down and opening a drawer, taking out a rifle and pointing it at me
"You're not as dumb as I thought you were. Now if you'll shut up and listen to me, we might get somewhere"
"Right. And you're not as clever as I thought you were." I nodded and dropped to the ground, crawling behind a metal table stand and sitting there. I put my hand on my stomach as it hurt, but thankfully it hadn't opened. Yet. I scanned the room from below. Up above on the walls there were plenty of guns, and then there was a window.
My signature stunt. Wasn't going to turn out well, but it was the only way I'd get out of here.
Then I'd find the guy who tried to kill me, put a bullet through every part of his body until he told me who he worked for, kill him, kill them, and then maybe get killed or be free. And if Dominic showed up again, I wouldn't hesitate to kill him too.
"You need to listen, Hayley. That's all"
"Really?" I called out, taking both my guns out with a laugh "That's reminding me of something, or someone. Practise what you preach, Dommy"
And I poked my head around the table, shooting at him. I heard him grunt and heard movement, obvious that he was attempting to dodge the bullets firing. One gun ran out of bullets, so I threw it to the ground, holding the other one.
"Just shut up and listen" he pulled the trigger of the rifle and shot at the table, the table flying up into the air and then back on the ground, revealing nothing and no one behind it (Insert smiley face).
I had moved to the other side of the line of drawers, close enough to the wall so I could get another gun. Or even...
I turned to the side and opened a drawer beside me, wishing and hoping for me to be in luck. Just today. As I opened it, there was a huge gun inside, and I felt myself smile.
It was a machine gun.
"Hayley! Why don't you just make it easier for yourself, huh?" he said aloud and I backed myself at the wall again, my eyes transfixed on the gun.
"Because that just isn't me. And it isn't you either, you wouldn't even listen to me. Why should I listen to you?"
"Fine!" Dominic yelled, and I could've sworn I heard his deep voice echo "You talk, I'm listening. Then it's my turn"
"Trust me, you'll listen to me" I smirked, and then reached for the gun, standing up
"SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!"
And I put my finger on the trigger, all my blood rushing and gushing through my body, and for the first time, I actually admitted that I might just be crazy. Because it felt AWESOME.
"What the FUCK!!!!!!" I heard his muffled voice over the gun, but the gun was too loud for me to hear him properly. He had ran and hid behind a pillar while I shot every single thing in the room, being the big bad wolf of the assassin world.
I heard him laughing, laughing so much, but I didn't blame him. I was too. It was actually hilarious. The whole thing.
"You're crazy" he spoke between his laughter and then chuckled one last time before he took a deep breath.
I smirked, and then spoke "I'm not finished yet" and before I put my finger back on the trigger he said
"Yes you are" and stepped out, showing a chip in his hand. I just knew what he did, so I threw the gun to the floor and crossed my arms. He deactivated all the weaponry in the room, meaning no gun would work.
"Now, will you listen to me or will I have to chain you up?" Dominic asked me.
I laughed "I'd like to see you try" and I ran for the window, cursing myself silently for my stomach and leg, but before jumping I stared back at Dominic who had a tired look on his face and smiled
"And here we go".
Throwing a grenade that was in my hair (in the disguise of a hair clip) he hadn't taken out when he brought me to this place, I jumped out of the window, the last thing being seen was Dominic's face drop.
I jumped, and then sensed something jump after me, and as we both hit the ground, we were thrown back a mile.
His house had exploded, but so had my wounds. My vision became blurry, orange and red being all I could see, however then a figure stood above me
"Now will you listen?"
I smiled, and then blacked out. For the tenth time over.
