final (long) author note
hello there / dear reader / hi
this is finally over gaah, it makes me sad just to think about it T-T I'm really proud of this fanfic, I put so much effort into it and it was worth it. I'm a proud mother :') I never thought of the tale as stockholm syndrome, blame me! And to think this started because I knew Emma Watson was going to play the role of Belle
fun fact: the story was supposed to have only seventeen chapters but I decided to split one of those into two parts + the piano lessons, 'human again' was supposed to be written in the epilogue but i wasn't ready to let this go *hugs your leg and sobs* I'LL NEVER BE
fun fact 2: DID SOMEONE EVEN NOTICE THAT CHAPTER TWO IS NAMED "the castle and the beast" AND THEN THERE IS A CHAPTER NAMED "the castle" AND THE NEXT ONE IS NAMED "the beast" BECAUSE I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD
now to explain two random stuff:
Ana Rita, why don't you think Beauty and The Beast is Stockholm Syndrome? Are you crazy? Have you been eating too many tuna&mayonnaise?
Well, like Luke said on the last chapter it's basically because of that. Belle knew what she was getting herself into, she saw it as looking out for her father. She didn't let herself be controlled by the Beast in most times, she slammed her foot on the ground and didn't let herself be controlled because she is a strong, independent woman. The Beast spent his whole life being told he was a monster, that he would never be loved and such - that fed his angers issues and insecurity. They didn't start falling in love until the Beast realised he was a gigantic asshole and tried to make up for his horrible behaviour by sweet gestures that were later reciprocated by Belle (teaching him to read in the original story, Luke teaching the piano in this book). Belle believes in him and gave him hope when no one else ever did and all of this happened before they started falling in love.
To play a little: Belle enjoyed Stockholm Syndrome before it was mainstream (aye)
Why did Luke sing 'The Parting Glass' in that chapter?
If you don't know, 'The Parting Glass' is an Irish traditional song that people sing at the end of a gathering with friends. Even if Luke was already in love with Ashton at the time, Ashton still was his friend.
Try to follow my thoughts: Luke sang the song because it was like he was at the end of a gathering with Ashton, his friend. He was telling Ashton goodbye aka the end of the gathering, he was telling him goodbye and that they would see each other again, eventually.
Did it make sense? I think so.
Message me if you want, I would love to know your opinion about the story if you don't want to comment it :)
love you, goodbye
-ana rita
