There was an emptiness that blossomed in her chest the farther they pulled her away from the wolves. The scent of blood was heavy in the air- an animal tang to the iron that burned in her lungs and drilled into her head.

She had fed earlier that day and she had fed well, she had successfully passed through the wedding but it was them that broke her concentration. He was delectable, the taste of him heavy in her lungs and she wanted him on her lips.

She thrashed around, the strong arms around her pulling taunt as she struggled. Everything in her was too much, the hunger and the emptiness that only grew tore at her.

"Relax, Reyna! Calm down!" Emmett voice sounded in her ears- deep and angry.

The young vampire grew still- mind slowing to a still before she let out a sob. Her body wracking with sobs hat rip from her throat- tearless yet loud. She wanted to cry, to feel the release that came with tears and the exhaustion that followed.

It was cruel- living eternity restricted from mere human necessities. She felt stripped from her humanity and left bare to exposure.

"I want to understand. What's happening?" She croaked, falling against Emmett heavily.

"It happens, we all have moments of weakness in the beginning," the boys voice dropped to a soothing tone, his arms loosened a fraction in an attempt to comfort her.

"No, it's not that," Reyna cried. She curled her arms around herself and twisted her fingers into her shirt. "That boy, the one that turns into the beautiful grey wolf- he smells better than anything I have ever experienced. I want nothing more than to taste him and it hurts me so much because I can never imagine hurting him."

"What do you mean?" Emmett mumbled, letting her cling to him like a small child. Her stroked her hair carefully, allowing her to quiver against him.

"I yearn to be near him, it is physically paining me to be away from him but I don't trust myself to get too close, I- I can't because I'll kill him," Reyna whispered into the night, stumbling over her words ungracefully yet she continued to appear perfect.

Emmett sat still, body growing tense for a fraction of a second but she felt it. The way, despite him being rock solid, he grew rigid. She shot her head up, looking t him with disbelief and smacked his chest.

"What is it?" Reyna demanded, furrowing her brows angrily. "What aren't you telling me?"

"It's not that simple to explain," he rushed, readying himself for another angry outburst. "Carlisle would be better suited for this."

"I don't want Carlisle to tell me. I don't want to wait, I want to know now."

He groaned, a rumble that sounded very much like a growl. "Fine, okay have you ever heard the term blood singer? Or imprint?"

Stuck in a spiral, Reyna felt stuck and unable to climb out of the hole she had found herself in. She felt lost on a road that goes in one direction- barricaded and trapped behind an invisible line that prevented her from doing what she wanted.

Dressed nicely, Reyna didn't mind any dirt sticking to her shoes as she stood still her arms topped with three boxes full of homemade cupcakes- all red velvet and made on her own. She stood trapped behind the invisible barrier patiently as she waited for someone to arrive.

Emmett had explained it all to her, rambling and spewing random facts until she could finally understand the basic off what he was trying to say, and then Carlisle had explained it further.

Blood singer, a person whose blood called to her above all else- more tempting than anything she would ever experience. Emmett had encountered two in his lifetime and Bella was Edward's. Her own was difficult, like the relationship between Edward and Bella, hers was a wolf- one of the shifters from the tribe.

Complicating things further, the wolves had something that they called imprints- a term that, once described, had brought the girl immense joy. Imprints, Reyna had learnt, were a person that a shifter would do anything for. She was an imprint for her grey wolf, the other half of his soul.

The idea of soulmates had always interest her, something that she always believed in even if the idea was unimaginable. The prospect that one day someone would complete her in a way that indescribable beyond words brought her intense joy. Love was not only an idea when you believed that it could be true.

The wolf by the name of Embry Call was her blood singer and she was his imprint, and in the world of monsters that she now lived in she refused to let that sliver of happiness escape her.

She didn't now how long she stood waiting on the treaty line, though not once did her optimism fade. She did not tire, nor did she falter in her hold of the sweets that she cradled in her arms. Reyna stayed in the same spot just before the line until she could pick up on the scent of the wolves as they approached.

Allowing herself a moment to crinkle her nose at the distinct smell of wet dogs, she returned to her cool and collected state as she tried to differentiate between the approaching people. The girl refused to let their identity pass her by because she hoped to know them all one day.

They came from the woods, slinking from behind trees in their wolf forms and she took a moment to inspect them. One was more curious than the other, a chocolate brown in colour with kind eyes- he did not seem to hate her presence as the others warned they would. The other was harsher, carrying himself defensively- eyes full of disdain and mistrust. This one was grey, nearly silver, and bigger than the other.

"Hello, I'm Reyna Alves," she greeted, unwavering in her greeting. She picked her head around the boxes so more than her eyes showed, red painted lips pulling back in a toothy grin.

They didn't move, simply eyeing her as she stood before them. The grey one's hackles raised and she flickered her attention to him. He was clearly not as good looking as Embry, his wolf form lacking a certain amount of beauty.

She was short, incredibly so what they stood taller than her in wolf form. One would normally have been intimidated but it only furthered her awe surrounding the creatures. The glint of their teeth as their gums pulled back made her realise that their canines could be larger than her fingers.

The chocolate one growled towards the aggressive nature of the grey one and a silent discussion ensued between the pair- Reyna stood awkwardly as a witness.

"Uh, right, okay," she rattled on, trying to diffuse the tension without loosing her cool façade. "I made cupcakes for you guys, by hand."

The chocolate one moved closer, sniffing the air before he darted behind a tree. She watched as he went in confusion only for him to return a few minutes later with a pair of cut off jean shorts.

He bounced toward her, practically skipping and skidding to a stop before her. He was bulky with muscle and taller than herself but shorter than Embry. Her wolf, as she could recall, was lithe and lean.

"Quil Ateara the fifth," he stated, a welcoming grin on his face. Reyna's smile got impossibly bigger despite how she noticed the distance he put between them.

"The fifth? That's a long line of Quil's," she blurted, a blush would have been evident if it was possible.

He laughed, much to her relief and stuck his hands into his pocket. He relaxed himself, slouching as he stood without a care.

"Not many people view it that way," Quil admit with a chuckle.

"Why wouldn't they? It's a family name, one that you should carry with pride," her reply came easy, shooting back at him seriously.

Taken by surprise, his eyes softened and he took a few steps closer despite the way his instincts pulled at him to get away from her.

"You made us cupcakes?" Quil questioned, clearly his throat as he moved to the treaty line.

"Red velvet," Reyna told him, lifting up the boxes lamely as a gestured. "I thought you would like them but they're mainly a lame excuse to get one of you to talk to me."

Quil reached forward suddenly and the action caused her to stiffen, eyes flicking shut briefly before they fluttered open. She stood her ground, smothering the prick in her throat even if the sent of their blood was not alluring.

He must have noticed her reaction as he quickly took the boxes and stepped back, the grey wolf snarling at her in warning.

Jumping in shock, she shuffled away with wide in fear. She wrung her hands in front of her, eyes wide in horror at how the situation turned.

"No, no, listen, please, I-I," Reyna stammered, her head shaking slowly. "It's not what it looks like! I would never hurt you, I wouldn't be able to stand it!"

"Reyna," a hand grippe onto her elbow firmly as a southern accent dripped into her ears.

She moved to pull away on instinct, a hiss leaving her mouth as she spun to look at him. Jasper was a nice man but she was certain that he did it on purpose to make her angry as a test- as some sort of sick training to teach her control.

"Relax," Jasper continued, hold tightening on her elbow and she groaned as a faint pain struck her. "We should leave before something bad happens."

"What?" she exclaimed, yanking herself away from him. "I'm not done, I wanted to ask-"

"Come on, Reyna, we need to go," Jasper was firm. He reached forward quickly, snatching her in a hold around her neck in a hold she couldn't get out of without using her powers.

"Jasper, I swear that if you don't let me go right now that I will-"

Stopping, her words caught in her throat and she fell slack in his arms. Reyna knew how Jasper's powers worked and it was surprising how sudden they could affect a person.

He pushed her so she stood on her own. Taking a moment, she rearranged herself and smoothed down her appearance before looking up to the Quileute shifters.

The elder vampire slipped a hand around her arm and tugged her along until she began to move with him willingly. Looking over her shoulder continuously, she met their eyes easily and called, "I'm so very sorry. I hope you enjoy the cupcakes! Would you please tell Embry that I know of the imprint?"

A shocked look came over Quil's face and he watched her leave in amusement, balancing the boxes of food in his arms he turned around and headed the other direction towards Emily's to, hopefully she thought, share the food.
