Mabel
Our young Pines had woken up on a fine spring morning and had decided to go out to the village to find another book to read. So, she decided to wear her favorite turquoise and light gray dress into town. She fixed her hair into a French braid, grabbed her book basket and walked out to town. On her way to the bookshop, she had received many mysterious glares from the townsfolk, but had decided to ignore it. She had stopped by the bookshop to retrieve her favorite book, about adventure and romance and all those things. On her way back home, she had run into the town "hero", Gideon. He had fallen for our dear Pines since the moment she arrived into town for the first time. She, of course, knew his feelings for her, but did not feel the same as him. Of course, he had his sidekick Pacifica with him. Mabel had managed to make it home when she heard an explosion from the basement from where she was standing. When she got home, she went down to the basement to investigate the explosion. It had seemed her brother Dipper had been trying to fix his invention for the Science Fair the next day.
"Dipper..? What happened?" She asked him. He appeared out of the smoke, covered in filth and dust.
"I can't get this contraption to work! How will I ever win the fair tomorrow..?!" He told her. She sighed and sat next to him.
"Dipper, you're smart. If we can fix this, then you'll surely win first prize at the fair." There was a moment of silence.
"You really think so..?" He asked, looking at me. She smiled at him.
"Of course I do! I'm your sister for heaven's sake!" He smiled slightly and started getting to work on his machine. She thought to herself for a moment.
"Dipper.. If I ask you something.. Will you answer me honestly..?" He looked at her strangely.
"Of course.. Don't I always..?" She sighed and sat down.
"Dipper.. Do you think I'm.. Different..?" He just looked at her, another moment of silence passing.
"Well.. It depends on what you mean by 'different'.."
"...Well.. I don't fit in with the other villagers... And.. There's no one I can trust.. But you..." Dipper went back to work.
"What about Gideon..? He seems pretty nice.." She rolled her eyes. "Nice is something he obviously isn't." He smiled slightly.
"Alright then. Let's see if this will work.." He stood up and took off his goggles and pulled a lever, starting his mechanism. This time, it has successfully started and worked beautifully. Dipper had jumped in excitement.
"It worked!" He said, jumping in excitement. I hugged him tightly.
"You've really done it! You'll win first prize tomorrow for sure!" He smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Well, if I'm going to win, I'm going to need to get there." He put on his jacket and hugged his sister before leaving.
"Goodbye brother! Good luck!" She said, waving goodbye. And dear Pine Tree's journey began.
