Chapter 2
Oh my head. I rolled over groaning, then wincing in pain remembering the bruise on my side. I slowly sat up, taking in the room I was in. I knew it as one of the guestrooms at Harry's. The sunlight pouring in through the window, a glass of water on the side table beside me. I took a sip of water, allowing myself to adjust to the room, then noticing that Mason was sleeping on the other side of the bed, he was on top of the covers with a light blanket though while I was under the actual bed coverings. It was a queen size timber bed, the room quite large with the bed in the middle of the room, matching timber side tables and a small wardrobe. The window was narrow, floor to ceiling and view of, well of the driveway. I found my phone also beside me, a text from Kara waiting for me.
Hey girl, sorry I ditched. Met a handsome fella, Mason assured me you were in good hands. Ttyl xo
I was pretty used to this happening after parties. The first few times I would get mad at her for ditching, but finally I got used to it. Groaning, I made my way out of bed stumbling to the bathroom. After doing my business, I splashed my face with water, looking at myself. I never drink this much, what was I thinking. Suddenly I had flashbacks to the questioning about Garret, then the alcohol.
Drying my face, I then couldn't help but check the state of the bruise on my ribs, lifting my top up, I looked in the mirror seeing the blue and purple that was starting to yellow around the sides. I sighed, feeling around the sides when suddenly the bathroom door opened. I quickly lowered my top and turned to see the mysterious blonde guy that was standing alone by himself last night.
"What the hell? Heard of knocking?" I said frustrated. He looked at me, then to my ribs where the bruise is and back up to my eyes, this time I saw a hint of concern in his eyes, but only for a moment, his expression not changing the whole time. I could now see that he had brilliant blue eyes that I couldn't see in the darkness last night. He was tan, like he spent his life on the beach and I was right about the muscles.
"Sorry, I didn't know anyone else was awake" he said.
"Who are you anyway? Only Harry's close friends stay over, I've never seen you before."
"I'm his cousin, I just moved to stay with his family" I nodded at this new information, not really sure what to say.
"Are you ok?" he asked. Glancing again at my ribs.
"I'm fine. Just knock next time. I could have been naked or still on the toilet" I said annoyed, before making my way past him and back to the room before he had a chance to even reply. I was annoyed at him, but at the same time he made me feel.. strange. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I'm sure it wouldn't matter as I probably wouldn't see him much.
Walking back into the room I sat on the bed again just as Mason began to stir. I looked over at him as he looked at me with a goofy grin. "Oh noooo, what did I do?" I asked, burying my head in my hands.
He laughed, "you just drank a lot, I brought you to bed before you could do anything too silly"
"So why are you grinning like I did something stupid?"
"Oh you mean like asking me to be your first?" I felt my cheeks heat up as I threw myself onto my back dramatically, my hands still covering my face.
"Yeah, you also wanted me to kiss you. Don't worry though, I don't take advantage of drunk girls" He continued, laughing softly.
I groaned loudly, I mean Kara and I had always discussed the option that if I really get desperate Mason is seriously cute, but in reality, I couldn't even imagine myself kissing him, let alone sleeping with him.
I finally looked up to see him smiling down at me with his perfect smile, his messy dark brown morning hair, and green eyes glinting. "Oh shut up! You wish" I joked, "It would be like kissing my brother!"
"Ouch, way to hurt a man's ego. Maybe I should have taken the offer last night" I threw a pillow at him, "You seemed pretty desperate" he laughed, knowing his teasing was getting to me.
"Excuse me, I may not be the slutty one of the KK's, but I don't have any issues attracting any male I want! I'm just... selective." I said, sitting back up now.
"Sure, sure. You want me." He winked, climbing out of the bed and heading for the door, turning back to me, "coming? I smell bacon".
I rolled my eyes then followed him out. He was right there was bacon.
I took in the sight in front of me. There was Harry, shirtless and frying up bacon and eggs in the kitchen, helping him was Jason. Sitting at the breakfast bar was Jake and his girlfriend Hayley, I was friends with them, but we weren't super close. Jake was also on the basketball team and I only knew Hayley because of him. We often saw each other at these parties, but it's not like I would hang out with her outside of the group. If I was after girl time, it was always Kara and me.
I noticed Harry's cousin outside alone, with a mug of coffee in his hand, he was just taking in the ocean views. Harry must have noticed me watching him because I heard his voice from beside me, "my cousin, Tyler." I turned around to him, seeing him grinning like he had just caught me doing something I shouldn't have been.
"I didn't ask" I replied, Harry tapped the side of his nose, still smirking at me. I gave him a look, scrunching up my face to say 'shut up'. Mason handed me a coffee and we made our way to the dining table.
"Breakfast is served, dig in!" Harry announced and everyone, including Tyler made their way to the table to eat. I only took a slice of toast and 2 rashers of bacon. Suddenly I felt multiple pairs of eyes on me, looking up to see the boys eyeing me suspiciously, they were used to me eating the same amounts as them.
"Drink too much Kay? You aren't eating like normal." Jason questioned first. I looked down at my plate, then back up.
"Ahh yeah. My bad. I guess I hit it harder than usual" I shrugged.
"That's not like you" Jason continued. I wasn't liking the spotlight on me at all. I was not ready to admit that I wanted to find anyway to forget what happened last weekend.
Thankfully, the front door opened, and Kara walked inside making an entrance as usual, a giant grin on her face.
"Morning!" she said cheerily, and we all laughed. We had seen this many times before, Kara didn't do the walk of shame, she called it the walk of glory. The only one who it seemed lost on was Tyler, this was his first time meeting Kara.
She sat down beside me, helping herself to bacon and giving me a side hug when she noticed him, "Wait! New boy. Who are you?" she said, waving her bacon in the general direction of Tyler, then looking at me, "and Kayla, where is your food girl?"
"That's Tyler, Harry's cousin. And please don't question me, just get me another coffee please" I moaned.
She obliged, grabbing my mug and getting herself a coffee too while giving Tyler the eye. From behind him I could see her mouth 'he's hot!' and I had to stifle a laugh.
He seemed totally uninterested in her, which had me gobsmacked. No one ever passes up Kara. I glanced at him, he was looking at me and then beside me to Mason, who I hadn't noticed was sitting with his arm on the back of my chair. We probably looked like a couple.
"Kara, can you take me home. I need a shower." I asked as she handed me my mug of coffee.
"Sure thing. What is everyone doing later? We hanging out?"
"We will probably just be here, go for a surf later. You are welcome to come back and join us. I can never have enough of KK" Harry said, winking at Kara.
"We'll think about it." I said, dragging Kara out of the house. We got into the car, but she refused to start it, instead turning to me with a giant trouble making grin.
"Omg, Tyler! He had eyes for you girl."
"Ah no. I'm a hungover mess, I drank way more than normal last night, Kara I told Mason to be my first. I could die!! As for Tyler, he walked in on me in the bathroom this morning and was an arrogant pig."
"Wow, wow what? You said what to Mason? Oh dear girl! Let's get you home" she replied, taking pity on my sorry state.
"Please do!" I begged as she finally turned the car on, she told me all about her hook up last night as we drove to my house.
She dropped me off, not bothering to come inside. Turning to walk down my driveway, my heart stopped as my brother, Drew and his friend Garret were sitting on the front porch, smoking.
I tried to make my way past them without saying anything, Drew looked totally out of it, probably stoned, which meant he didn't notice when Garret got up as I walked past. He made me so nervous I fumbled my keys.
As I finally got the right one he had already made his way to me, he stood behind me, one hand on the door handle, the other on my ass, he kissed me neck, whispering in my ear "let's go to your bedroom?" I shivered, not out of lust but out of fear.
Finding the last bit of strength inside of me I pushed his hand off the handle, getting it open and moving away from him, I turned and looked him in the eye, "Never" I gritted out, then turned and ran up the stairs to my room.
