~CHAPTER THIRTY~

~December 25th, 2002, Y/N POV~

~

By the way, if you do not celebrate Christmas, I am sorry. I personally do celebrate Christmas and since I have such a large family I have several different days that we open presents and gather together with family and friends. It is one of the biggest holidays for me and that is why I choose to make this chapter a Christmas morning in Y/N's past. How I have this setup, you would be five years old.

~

With my eyes still closed, the smell of fresh baked cookies, pies, and other sweet treats wafts from the kitchen to my bedroom. I breathe in deeply and sigh. Christmas, aka the greatest holiday in the history of holidays...ever. Well, until another holiday rolls around and in that case, that holiday would be the greatest holiday in the history of forever. I mean come on, on New Years you stay up super duper late, Valentine's day is for you to cry about being single and gorge yourself on chocolate, and you get basketfuls of candy and chocolate for Easter, and Halloween you again get basketfuls of candy! Like, don't expect me to choose my favourite holiday because it's too damn hard!

{ A/N I was a really happy child...So that's what I'm writing...Feel free to add extra dialogue that expresses who you were as a smol bean child. }

Still hazy from sleep, I kick my feet out from under the blankets and slip out of bed. The cold air hits my legs and I brush my nightgown down to cover my exposed legs as it always slips up in the morning.

{ A/N My mom used to always choose the 'cutest' nightgowns for me to wear on Christmas so...That's what this is... }

I glance at the clock that I only partly knew how to read. Between the light coming in through my windows and the time which I determined to be eight o'clock, I decided that it was late enough for me to tiptoe downstairs and look at the presents under the tree. Because of how old my house was, the floorboards creek underneath me at every step as I make my way from my bedroom to the stairs. I creep down them as quiet as I can and hear the murmur of adults talking coming from the kitchen.

"Is the pudding ready yet?" My mom calls from the walk-in pantry to my grandmother who is in the kitchen. I climb silently onto one of the bar stools and rest my elbows on the island. There were plates of iced cookies and other goodies on it that smelled delightful.

"It needs a moment longer" my grandma replies. I reach out for the plate of my F/C ( Favourite cookie. ) which conveniently was placed closest to me. I slowly drag it over in front of me and-

"Y/F/N { Your full name. }," My mother snaps and picks up the plate of cookies. She places them on top of the fridge so that I couldn't reach them. "You know the rule about no cookies before breakfast." Mum sighs and runs her fingers through her hair. "Goodmorning, Y/N." She says as she hugs me.

"Good morning, Mummy," I say sweetly as I shake my body gently to make the stool wobble.

My grandma, who was busy in the corner whisking a bowl of batter so hard that it might tip over, shouts her good morning as well. She was slightly hard of hearing even though she could hear every time one of her grandchildren decided to backtalk her. She was not the grandma that handed out cookies if we were in trouble but she wasn't harsh enough to make us cry. She was that in between type of Grandma that lets you get away with eating the rest of the cake batter if you were the only grandchild around.

"Is anyone else up?" Mom asks after setting a plate of steaming hot pancakes/waffles/eggs and bacon in front of me and handing me a fork. I shake my head then remember seeing my older cousin digging around in the presents that were laying behind the tree. I decide to not rat him out since I would join him in a few moments to look for my own presents; to look and see if my parents had gotten me the new skates I had begged for all year long.

~Kindergarden~

"Hiya!" Yells a short, raven-haired girl as soon as I walked into the classroom. This was my first day of school and so I had no clue who anyone was. I waved shyly and my mom lead me over to the teacher so she can help me find my seat. I glance around the classroom to see who else was there and my face lights up as I see someone I recognise. Yuuri. I wave to him and he waves back. He was sitting at the desk next to the girl that had greeted me when I had arrived.

"Hello, Y/N," The teacher says kindly. I turn around and face her. She looked nice enough. "My name is Mrs Casto and I will be your teacher." I nod and hold out my hand to shake hers. She and my mom laugh but not in a mocking way. More in a 'she is so cute and polite' type of way. She shakes my hand and leads me over to the desk behind the girl and Yuuri. The girl spins around and says 'Hi' again.

"Hi," I say shyly.

"I'm Dai! My mom says I'm too loud and annoying but I don't see it. You're going to be my bestest friend, I just know it! You have to be my bestest friend because I chose you and it's rude if you say no. Besides, this guy next to me said he knew you and he is also my bestest friend." The girl leans over to whisper in my ear but she doesn't change the volume of her voice. "I think he's kinda cute."

~Present Day~

"Yes," Viktor spins around, obviously surprised by my sudden arrival. His hair was a mess from him running his fingers through it and his eyes were bright as always. Since I had decided to run from my house all the way to the ice castle, I was panting. I had taken a chance at him still being here though it was twelve at night because I had to see him; to tell him that I wanted to go with him just as much as he wanted me to come.

"Yes?" Viktor says confused, then his face lights up and he grabs my hands and holds them in his. Whether he knew it or not, his eyes were searching mine for any sign of doubt and he found none.

"Yes," I repeat, excitedly. There had never been a decision I was more sure of. Going with him was not as big as a marriage proposal or anything of the sort but it meant that he wanted to get to know me better and that he cared at least a little for me. There would be nothing holding me back here.

~Throw back to earlier that afternoon~

"-And since Viktor asked you to come along and since Yuuri and I have been seeing each other for a good amount of time, he asked me to come along as well," Dai revealed.

~Back to the present~

Viktor, still holding my cold hands in his warm ones, leans down slowly and we share a breath before he presses his lips gently on to mine.

A/N Three things. One: After two years of on and off writing this story I reached thirty chapters!! This is a pretty huge milestone! Two: I wanted this chapter to be a small throwback to see how Y/N grew through the years. Three: THEY FINALLY KISSED! I never found the right moment for that when I was writing in the past and OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS I AM SO HAPPY! THIS IS HUGE! <3
