10; maybe your love for me was fake

Chapter Ten
『maybe your love for me was fake』

⋅⋆✯✼⋆⋅

At some point, Bodie passed out. Or he pretended to in hopes that Henry would stop. And when Henry did, he still played unconscious long enough that someone walked in. He heard the sound of an impatient sigh which seemed more like a groan as if they were waiting for Bodie to make a slight movement. Whoever had come into the room took a few steps towards Bodie—after scribbling on what Bodie thought to be paper, probably discussing with Henry about what happened and such—and stroked the side of his face.

Bodie recognised the touch alone, the softness of his skin, the heat that came off him, the way that his touch felt on him, the way that his touch ignited everything in him. Klaus. Klaus who probably, most defiantly, wanted to murder him for the stuff that he's done. Klaus, who even after everything, Bodie still hoped for too much, he knew that he took it too far with the white oak stake, and as much as he tried to make an excuse for his actions, it wouldn't be right. He threatened to kill Klaus by waving around the stake, talking about Henrik's death the way that he did, and such.

He tried his best to keep himself as still as possible, feeling the way that Klaus' fingers stopped at his cheek. In all honesty, the slight warmth of his fingers were warming up his cheek, he hadn't really payed that much attention to how cold the shed was before, but to be in Klaus' presence and to feel how warm he was, it seemed to hit him at a sudden realisation. He wanted to lean into Klaus' touch, but he didn't—he didn't want either Klaus and possibly Henry to know that he was awake and that he'd acted as if he had passed out.

"Leave us." Klaus spoke. There were footsteps and then a door closed. The presence by Bodie's side was strong, the need to reach out and either touch Klaus or rip his heart out was strong too but undeciding. Though, then, Bodie felt a shift in his body, like someone was raising half of him before his head ended up on something soft. Klaus hummed. "Bodie, let's not pretend anymore."

Bodie groaned but kept his eyes closed. "Shush." And here he thought he was being subtle. "How'd you know?"

"You can last a lot longer than half an hour of torture, Bodie Erikson," Klaus responded.

Something twisted inside Bodie. He opened his eyes then and looked at Klaus properly. "You rarely use my full name." Something within him yelled at him to run but he pushed it down. "Whatever you plan to do to me, Niklaus, just do it. I'm tired, Klaus, just please."

Klaus placed a hand over Bodie's cheek. "I'm not done with you yet, my Bo." He cleared his throat. "I suppose you're wondering as to why you're here of all places. And what I have done to your precious brothers."

"You compelled them," Bodie spoke, trying his best to ignore Klaus' hand on his cheek and the way that Klaus rubbed his cheek with his thumb. "You probably compelled Henry when you first invaded our house with Elijah while Will and I was out and made him act as if nothing happened or when you decided to use Will against me to bring me here. And then you compelled Will when Henry and I went to get all of us food. I take it you wanted to know if I was hiding anything that could harm you and your family to which lead to the stake. Compelling them was the best way to keep an eye on me more closely and to find anything of use to you out." He sighed. "And now, you've locked me in a concrete and brick shed that magic can't be used against and no vampire can escape from, even if they are an Original, making this the perfect trap."

"Ah," Klaus breathed. "You figured it out. Smart."

"Yes, and what I don't get is why." Bodie said. "Why come all the way here just to manipulate me and my brothers? Why use my own feelings against me?" He leaned out of Klaus' touch and off of his lap. "Do I mean that little to you? Was all of this a lie? Were your feelings for me just fake this entire time?"

Klaus gave him a hard look, unreadable, which was rare for Bodie to see directed towards himself. He normally could read Klaus and his expressions, but clearly the idea of feelings being fake shoved up the wall that Klaus made to shut away any emotion. Klaus was silent for a brief moment. "I never wanted to use your feelings against you, Bo—"

"—Bullshit!" Bodie cut in. "You always do this! You use your siblings love for you as a way to manipulate them into whatever you need from them, you kill Rebekah's chance of finding love because they don't fit your standards, you have Elijah under your control like a pet dog, you dagger the rest of your siblings like it's nothing because you know that they love you!" He took in a breath. "But because you can't dagger me because of your fear of losing me, you manipulate me because you know that you can use my feelings against me! You know that I love you and you use that to make me blind to what you're doing, not caring on if I get hurt."

Klaus looked down at his hands, a small frown on his face. "I dagger my siblings because it's what's best. I never wanted to use your feelings against you, nothing about this has been fake. I do love you Bodie, I always have, it's just there's bigger things going on than my feelings for you or supposedly manipulating you. Me coming here was because I needed to be close to you, I wanted to be here with you because I always need you."

Bodie groaned, rolling his head back slightly. "You said that before I fell asleep. You said that you missed me and needed me, for fucks sake you wrote me a letter telling me that you needed me, but clearly you would much rather fuck me and my trust for you because its what's best to benefit you." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "I waited for fifty years, missing you, picking up the pieces from you breaking me, only for you to drop right back in and make me believe that you needed me and for it to be part of some grand plan of yours to find magics loophole in your curse. You ignored my countless sayings that I wanted to help you and you threw it back. You threw it all away, and for what? And why?"

Klaus didn't say anything for a while, and it was a painful silence which filled between them. Bodie wanted to scream, to show Klaus how much this hurt, but he couldn't find the right words to express just how much this hurt him, only anger seemed to fill him, knowing that he was a fool for ever believing that Klaus would come for him. It was always Bodie who'd have to find Klaus in hopes that it would calm the storm that raged on within Klaus, it was always him that sought out Klaus, and Klaus never sought him out—and the only time that he has, Klaus decided to fuck it up. Bodie should have moved on, he should really just give up on Klaus Mikaelson, there was no point if Klaus was just going to be pain and if Bodie was to remain keeping his mistake a secret. Bodie lost all hope that there's a chance for their relationship.

"Leave," Bodie said, not looking at Klaus.

"What?"

"Leave." Bodie repeated, crossing his arms. "I don't want to see your face anymore, Niklaus. Or be in your presence." He turned his back to Klaus then, walking to one side of the shed. As much as he wanted to know as to why Klaus did what he did, he knew that he wouldn't get a straight answer.

He heard how Klaus stood and paused for a moment, like Klaus wanted to say something, but he didn't. He left, leaving Bodie alone with his thoughts.

Klaus walked back into the house which held the shed on its property. They decided to take up residency within the woods which was around half an hour away from where they were previously staying. And yet, Klaus wanted to break something, he wanted to draw attention but not enough that it brings his father to him but large enough to express everything that he felt. He'd opened the back door, slamming the door behind him as he walked in, the house was as well-lit as it could be, considering that they didn't fancy having attention from the human faction of the area. Or any other species for that matter.

"Niklaus," Elijah greeted.

Klaus ignored Elijah for a brief moment, allowing himself to sit down on the old couch that needed a little clean. He rubbed his face, staring up at the lightbulb that hung down. He was quiet for some time, thinking over what Bodie had said to him. He didn't think that all of this was fake, he really didn't—he loved Bodie, and it was the only thing that was real. He hadn't meant to use Bodie's feelings against him, in reality, he never planned to—he was just so caught up in the moment of being back by Bodie's side that there were times where he forgot what he was meant to be doing. And now, because of everything that Klaus has done, Bodie might never want to see him again. "I lost him."

"Bodie?"

Klaus moved to lay his head on the arm rest. "Who else?"

Elijah sighed. "Well, you did compel the two people that he trusts and cares for the most for your own gain, what did you expect? As normal, Niklaus, you ruined this for yourself and him."

Klaus lifted his head to look at Elijah. "If I needed a reminder on my actions, I would have asked, Elijah, but thank you so much for informing me that once again, it's my fault." His head fell back onto the arm rest, crossing his arms over his chest. He used the arm rest to itch his eye, not wanting to move his arms. He should have listened to Elijah when he spoke against it prior to both of them coming here, but he had decided against it because it was Bodie that he was running towards. He'd thought that if he ran towards Bodie asking him for help that Bodie would jump straight in—to which Bodie had been so ready to do, but Klaus being himself, had other plans in hopes to find out what Bodie could be hiding from him. Klaus wanted to force Bodie into obedience by getting Bodie to tell him the secret he was hiding, but rather than getting the truth, he lost someone he loved over what he wanted.

"Have you considered that getting your way with Bodie will be ultimately a reason why he might break things apart with you?" Elijah asked. Klaus might assume that Elijah was trying to mock him in some way for ruining what Elijah calls "the best thing to happen in his life," or even, "the light in his life," which Klaus wishes to believe but could never bring himself to believe.

"Have you considered that your input towards my relationship and what I want isn't welcome?" Klaus shot back.

Elijah tilted his head up slightly. "And what do you want? Besides ruining what's good for you?"

Klaus clenched his jaw then. "Bodie. I want Bodie and everything he's been keeping from me."

"You'll lose him more than what you have now," Elijah tried to point out. "He's stubborn, like you. He won't give you what you want."

Klaus leaned up then, glaring at Elijah. "He's hiding something from me, Elijah! He has been since the day that our mother turned him into one of us!" He rose to his feet then, pouring himself a drink from one of the bottles of whiskey that one of the heretic boys brought with them. "We told each other everything, Elijah, but there's still something that he hides from me, and it bothers him a lot. And I don't know what to do other than to try and get it out of him."

Klaus could remember the amount of nights that they spent together when he would be woken up by Bodie having some form of nightmare that was almost impossible for Klaus to wake him from. It was those moments that worried Klaus the most—even if he didn't want to admit it—but it did, it worried him that he couldn't do anything but to just be there for Bodie. And yet, no matter how many nights Bodie woke him up with the same nightmare, he would never share what was bothering him, but Klaus could tell that whatever caused his nightmares that it made him panic over something he wasn't sure of. It worried Klaus that Bodie didn't trust him to tell him what haunted his dreams, and all Klaus wanted was to know what it was.

"His secret bothers him," Klaus said. "I intend to find it out. If it helps him find peace."

Elijah paused for a moment, thinking about god knows what before he then spoke; "And what if he doesn't want to tell you? You want him to tell you about this secret that he's kept from you for nearly a millennial, and you expect him to do so after you broke his trust?"

"I will have my way," Klaus responded almost sourly. "I don't care for how long it takes, I will find the truth. I'll just have to find a way to make him trust me."

Bodie was laying on the floor, looking up at the ceiling of the shed. He'd basically destroyed everything that he got his hands on, wanting to express just how he felt but it wasn't enough. And yet, it didn't feel like it expressed him properly, like the rage that he felt inside wasn't satisfied with the destruction around him that it needed more. And Bodie wanted to do more, he wanted to tear someone's heart out or decapitate someone. He could really go for killing someone, to feel the warm blood over his hands, to watch as their lifeless body falls, to watch the life drain out of their face.

Though, despite all the rage that he felt, he felt almost empty as if there was nothing else in life that mattered anymore. Henry betrayed him, Will betrayed him, Klaus broke his trust. The three main people that Bodie trusted more than anything else and they all hurt him the most, it made him want to scream but all he felt was this ongoing numbness which filled half his soul. He thought he could trust them, all of them, but clearly he couldn't. He thought that he could trust them all, but it was clear to him that it was easier to break the bonds that they had rather than keep them.

He heard the door open, but Bodie groaned, not moving. "I told you, Klaus, I don't want to see your stupid face."

"I'm offended on my brother's half," Elijah spoke.

"It extends to you, as well, then Elijah," Bodie said.

Elijah hummed then. "I see that you've decorated. Expressed your anger enough or would you rather I come back later?"

"Would you rather I rip your heart out or count how many bones I can break in your body?" Bodie asked, his eyes still glued to the ceiling. Though for a moment, he rolled his head to look at Elijah who wasn't amused at all. "What do you want? Scold me for hurting Klaus' feelings? 'Cause at the moment, I don't care for Klaus and his precious feelings."

"I'm not here to scold you, Bodie, and I do not appreciate the threats." Elijah said, moving around the room.

"If you're not here to scold me or listen to me threatening your life, then what do you want?" Bodie asked. "Did Klaus send you here?" He then smiled at the thought. "Did he not have enough balls to talk to me again? Is he afraid that I might blow up at him again?"

"Bodie, please," Elijah said, coming to sit a good eight feet away from where Bodie laid. "I only came here in hopes to talk, and no, Niklaus didn't send me in here." Bodie hadn't realised that Elijah had taken off his blazer which somewhat made him nervous.

"Talk about what?" Bodie asked, trying to not over think anything. "Are you planning to threaten me? Or here to inform me that you and Klaus have done something stupid which would explain as to why you're here because Klaus would rather you tell me the news than himself?"

"Bodie, just listen," Elijah irritatingly said as if he were talking to one of his younger siblings. "My brother is just worried about you and he's curious as to what you may be hiding from him."

Bodie sat up then, giving Elijah a look. "Why the fuck would he be worried about me? He's the one who fucked everything up! He's the one who screwed all of this up! God, you Mikaelson's are the same. So fucking annoying."

"I'll try not to take offence," Elijah muttered. "Niklaus might show that he cares in the worst ways—I'm aware, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't care. And he cares for you, even if you don't want to see him or his apparent 'stupid face'."

"If he cares so much," Bodie said, "he wouldn't have ruined my trust in the only people that I consider my brothers. He wouldn't have done what he did since coming back into my life or even before that. It was a mistake letting him back in and letting all the Mikaelson drama back in. I should've left when I had a chance. All Klaus says is just pure lies."

Elijah was silent then, though only for a brief moment before standing again, taking his blazer in his hand. "Then I'm sorry."

Before Bodie could comprehend anything that was going on, Elijah had pulled a dagger out and rushed towards Bodie. At the last second—despite being forced back down—Bodie just about managed to stop Elijah from daggering him. He was surprised at the thought that Elijah would be the one to dagger him, he half expected Kol to do this to him, but not Elijah the nobleman.

"Elijah. . ." Bodie stained. He could feel the way that the tip of the dagger started to pierce his chest.

Elijah pressed down further, and anger filed Bodie more than what he expected. He'd managed to wiggle his leg out from being trapped under Elijah's weight and tried to boot Elijah enough in his stomach and chest—it wasn't much, but enough that it made Elijah loosen up a little allowing Bodie to grip Elijah's wrist, turning it round while digging his nails into his skin.

The grip over the dagger loosened and with enough pressure, Bodie kicked Elijah off him. It wasn't a great kick, but it was as good as he could which allowed him to get up and steal the dagger from Elijah. However, Elijah was quick to recover and went to strike though Bodie daggered him just under his heart and held Elijah by the throat

"You know, you used to be my favourite," Bodie said, "now Finn's my favourite and he disliked me the most." Bodie gave Elijah a sinister grin then. "Goodnight, Elijah." He then quickly moved the dagger and shoved it into Elijah's heart. He let go of both the dagger's hilt and Elijah's throat, watching him desiccate and fall to the ground. Out of anger, Bodie kicked Elijah in the stomach. "Fucking Mikaelson's."

Once again, the door opened, only for Henry to walk back in. He looked between both Bodie and Elijah who was on the floor with the dagger in his chest. Henry looked oddly surprised and yet wasn't that shocked, but his face changed to fear when he heard the sound of bones cracking and breaking and the sound of a wolf growling. He hadn't taken his eyes off of Bodie long, but it was enough to miss that Bodie was pissed enough that he shifted. There was a moment where Henry forgot everything that he knew about his magic, that the fear as to what Bodie would do to him overtook him.

Henry closed his eyes for a moment in a mix between fear and trying to remember a spell that he could do to make Bodie stop. But within those moments, nothing happened as if Bodie had vanished. Which—once Henry opened his eyes—Bodie did, he'd escaped in his other form out the door which he carelessly left open because he thought to expect Elijah rather than an overly pissed off hybrid.

Klaus was going to murder him and his brother like it was nothing.
