Chapter Nine
『when war doesn't go as planned』

"How did you get that?" Elijah asked taking a step between Klaus and Bodie before either of them could continue their fighting. Elijah stared at Bodie, trying to act like the big mature person he made himself out to be, but Bodie just stared at Elijah a part of him didn't want to respond. "I will not ask you again, Bodie. How did you come to hold what you have?"

Bodie tilted his head up slightly. "Mikael."

Klaus took a step forward, pointing accusingly towards him. "You've been working alongside him, haven't you? It's why you've been so desperate for us to work alongside each other so you can hand us—me—over to him for our death sentence."

Bodie held up his hands, though he pouted. "Mikael has more reason to kill me as he does with you, Klaus, so I wouldn't want to work alongside him. I stole it from your father, he held two white oak stakes, one now being in my possession." He smiled then. "I figure that he's noticed by now that I have one and plan to murder me because of it. I mean, it would give him another reason to hate me more." He shook his head then. "A witch helped me obtain it, as did some vampires all while I distracted the big bad vampire, ironically, I done it on a full moon; might have given me a bit more motive to help the werewolves to add another Mikaelson to the list."

He took notice on the way that both brothers shifted at that, something twitched within them like the image of Henrik Mikaelson and his death coming back into their memories was something that made them uncomfortable in some way. Which somewhat made sense in Bodie's mind, the memory of the moment Henrik's death played in his mind continually, the guilt eating away at him daily causing him nightmares when the death day came around—haunting him as if it were a reminder that he was the reason why vampires existed.

He knew that the mention of Henrik and his death filled Klaus with guilt, knowing that somewhere behind all of the monstrous identity that Klaus gave himself, there's a small part of him which still feels guilty about going out that night with him—guilty over the fact that if Klaus denied the opportunity to watch as the wolves changed, that there's a chance that Henrik would have lived. Bodie knew that Henrik's death was a sensitive spot for all of the Mikaelson siblings, but Bodie knew that it hit Klaus the worst, knowing what Henrik's death meant to him.

Klaus' face twisted into something that Bodie didn't want to decipher, though Bodie knew that he hit a nerve within Klaus as he did with Elijah. As much as Bodie knew that he shouldn't continue with the teasing of Henrik's death considering on how much it hurt Bodie to realise the life that he took, he wanted to tease the brothers more. Bodie wanted to tease them more, knowing that it was something that was sensitive to them both, that it was the first time that they lost someone that was close to them.

"You know," Bodie teased, "maybe I wouldn't need to do all of this, to remind you of the one you lost if you just listened to me." A smirk grew on his face, one which seemed cruel. "I'd prefer if we could have worked together, but"—he rushed to be behind the two—"you both decided against it." He pressed the tip of the white oak into the back of Elijah's shoulder. "You, my dear Elijah, ruined my Woodford's chance of being connected with the witches, and ruining their trust. And I care for Will and Henry to have their trust with the witches, and you, Elijah Mikaelson, almost ruined it." He then moved behind Klaus, placing a chin on his shoulder, though Klaus moved his shoulder away. "And you, Niklaus, my love, hurt me the most, you slept with me and then you wait until I'm asleep before you ransack my house to look for something that you think that I have."

Bodie walked around to be in front of the pair, pointing the white oak stake towards them. "You know, I thought about why you would do this to me, thought that it might be your way of trying to get revenge for the amount of times we've broken up, Klaus, but that didn't make sense. You've had countless opportunities to play into your whole revenge scheme against me." He smiled then as if his own thought process amused him. "And then I realised, the only reason why you thought to come back into my life was because you both just wanted to use me to get into my house to get your hands on the grimoires in my possession." He glared at Klaus then, a part of him felt as if there were a knife in his heart being twisted. "You," he pointed the white oak stake towards Klaus, "used me," his voice broke, "because you know that you are my only weakness in this world, and you used that against me. To get what you want. Because you don't care about anyone else other than yourself and what you can gain from it!"

Klaus gave him a hard look. A Bodie that wanted to care would have tried to figure out what the look meant, but a Bodie that was currently pushing everything aside fought everything within him to try and get an understanding of what that look meant. Bodie wanted to punch Klaus, he wanted to show Klaus everything he felt, but he couldn't bring himself to—he couldn't even bring himself to use the white oak stake against him.

"William," Elijah said, almost too calmly. "If you would be so kind."

Just as Bodie went to turn to look at Will, Will rose his hand and flicked it round. Bodie's neck snapped. The sound of Henry yelling was the last thing that Bodie heard before darkness called upon him and the white noise of temporary death filled his ears. Though the final thought of Will's betrayal replayed in his head over and over, not being able to understand any of it.

He woke to someone kicking his leg, but Bodie didn't want to open his eyes. He'd rather lay here and rot. There was no point in being here if he was going to be betrayed over and over again. First Klaus, then Elijah, and now Will. Will who he trusted with everything for years, Will who is aware of everything that happened within Bodie's life and Bodie's greatest regret, Will who he thought to be his brother—his friend—everything that one would think of another given the time that they've spent together.

Henry was kicking his leg but a part of him didn't want to respond to Henry's kicks, he'd rather lay there and overthink everything, overthink what Will did and what Klaus did. However, Bodie couldn't do what he wanted considering that Henry decided to physically shake him until Bodie looked at him. When Bodie did look at Henry, relief seemed to take over Henry as if he were worried that Bodie wouldn't respond to him.

"Thank god," Henry sighed with relief. "I thought that I'd have to sacrifice some random neighbour's cat to bring you back or something."

Bodie sat up, rubbing his neck. "Where are we?" He looked round, it looked as if he were in a shed of some sorts though instead of wood—like the normal shed would be made out of—it looked to be made out of brinks. Yet despite it being brick, its size remained that of a shed—small, full of tools, dusty, and creepy. He wondered exactly where they were outside of the shed, whether they were still in Wembley or had been shipped off somewhere else for a short while.

"I don't know." Henry responded, shrugging slightly. "They knocked me out not long after Will snapped your neck."

Bodie took notice of the tense in Henry's voice when he mentioned his brother's name. Of course, Bodie didn't blame him, Henry felt more betrayed by what Will done than anything else. He sighed. "Can you—you know—use your magic to break us out?"

Henry shook his head before gesturing towards one wall with a black splat across it like fire was thrown there enough to leave a mark. "I've tried. Whatever this place is made out of, I think it was designed to keep someone like me in here." He then walked towards the door. "And, unfortunately for us, the door has something on it. I've tested to see if it's magic. It is. But it's too much for me to siphon. I think whoever designed this place, made it to keep someone a lot more powerful."

Bodie scoffed at that, he wanted to say something based around that, but he didn't, he shook his head and rose to his feet. "Maybe some older witches built this, thinking that it could hold the Gods or something."

"Are Gods even real?"

"Vampires exist," Bodie shrugged. "Wouldn't surprise me. Though, haven't met any even if they did exist."

Henry made a noise, a hum at first then a huff. "Are we going to ignore what Will done or continue to discuss whatever the fuck we're stuck in?"

"Well, I thought it was obvious," Bodie said. "Either Will betrayed us for whatever reason, or our Billy boy was compelled. We left him with both Klaus and Elijah when we were getting food. Who knows what they did to him."

"Fuck," Henry mumbled. Anger filled Henry, Bodie knew considering that Henry had taken the like in destroying the tools and whatever else hung on the walls. He threw his hands forward towards the wall, a rumble went through everything around them as if Henry was trying to destroy the wall and everything around them. After a moment, Henry gave up and dropped to his knees. "WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER TRUSTED THEM!" He heaved then as if he was about to cry—or was. "They turned my brother against us! Against me! He promised—" He took in a breath. "He promised. Before we asked you to turn us, he promised. He promised that he wouldn't turn against me, that when we turned we would stick together. We were outcasts of our own coven, we found comfort with each other, when we met you, we saw an out, a way to have something more and to watch as the world grew—like you have—and we promised to each other that we wouldn't betray each other like our parents did to us."

Henry covered his face with his hands then. "He broke his promise to me. Seven hundred years and he broke it. I don't care if it was compulsion or not, he would have found a way to communicate around it. It's Will, he always found a way. But I don't think he done this under any mind control, I think he done it because he wanted to. No matter who he hurt."

Bodie moved towards Henry, kneeling down beside him. "We'll find a way to get through to him. You could beat the shit out of him, if you like, if it would bring you comfort for him breaking his promise to you." He wrapped an arm around Henry only for the hybrid to lean into him. "We'll find a way, Henry. We always do." Henry then wrapped his arms around Bodie. "We'll figure it out. I promise you, Henry, we'll sort all of this out."

They stayed like that for a while. Bodie felt bad for Henry, he had a feeling that Henry would feel bad because of what happened with Will, but Bodie hadn't really taken much into consideration when it came to Henry or his feelings just as a whole. He knew to do better when it came to Will and Henry, and he should have—he should have realised that there was something going on with Will before all of this. Though now that he thought about it, it was Will who put the idea in Bodie's head about killing both Elijah and Klaus, but Bodie being Bodie decided to take it another step and declare war without thinking about the difference within Will.

Bodie wasn't sure how long they were sat there, Bodie tried his best to comfort Henry when he muttered about what happened or how he should have noticed that something was off, but Bodie would counter that as that it was something that the pair of them should have noticed, that this was something that Henry shouldn't blame himself over. In all honesty, Bodie did blame himself, he was so caught up in his own thoughts and feelings that he hadn't taken notice of one of the people that he cares about the most in the fact that they were compelled. He—Bodie—hated the fact that he hadn't taken notice in the change at all. Bodie knew that he should have listened to both Will and Henry about Klaus.

"You know," Bodie said, after a moment, "I should have listened to you and him. About Klaus. I shouldn't have gone back to him, I shouldn't have gotten caught up in my feelings for him—like I always do—and I dragged you and Will into it, not knowing how it would affect the pair of you. I should have thought more about all of it, I should have taken your feelings into account on what would happen." He let out a breath. "I should have thought more than to let Klaus Mikaelson into our lives. Into my life again. I should have listened to you and Will and maybe we wouldn't be here."

Henry let out a dry laugh. "Yeah, you should have. But even if its Klaus, Will and I have always known that you're always going to go back to him. You have history and the look that you two give each other, it's weird—it's something that we barely see on you. Weird because even after seven hundred years and the continuing changes within society, I'm still trying to open my mind, but even if I still am, I love the way that even through all the heartbreak that you've been through with Klaus, you look at him like he's your entire universe. It's something that I've wished for my brother, for someone to look at him like he's their world, you know? Happiness. It's all that I want for my brother. And for you. Even if it's with someone who breaks your heart continually."

Bodie smiled at that. "I know. I see that you're trying and I'm happy that you're trying, I'm proud of how far you've come since I first met you." Henry smiled inwardly at that. "My love for Klaus, even after everything, is messy, I wouldn't wish for someone to be in the position that I put myself in—but the general love, I would." He let out a small sigh. "You both deserve happiness, Hen, I wish and hope that there's someone out there that make you both happy, that love you like the worlds ending."

Henry was silent for a brief moment, though the next words that came out of his mouth shocked Bodie more than anything. "He wants to know what your hiding. You're holding onto a secret, Bodie, it's time to share."

"Wha—" Henry had rose his hand, a sharp pain struck through Bodie's entire body which cut Bodie off what he was going to say. The pain that flowed through him was that of his bones breaking during the full moon, his head rang like intense static, all of it overwhelmed him to the point where he wanted to throw up. The pain, the ringing in his head, the need to throw up, it was all too great.

Bodie screamed.
