02; when immortals lie

Chapter Two
『when immortals lie』

⋅⋆✯✼⋆⋅

Bodie wondered as to how he got himself into these situations. One minute he was prepared to hurt the one who hurt someone he cared about, but now he was staring at the face that he loved with his whole heart, he wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to now. He wanted to defend his small family, but it was Klaus. His Klaus. The one who he watched empires rise and fall with, the one who he watched as history was being written with. Klaus Mikaelson who defended Bodie with his life just to prove his innocents to his parents who knew werewolves killed their youngest.

"Klaus." Bodie whispered. He took note at the hand which was still risen as if to rip his heart out. A part of Bodie wanted to reach out and touch Klaus, but he decided against it. He knew that the last time they saw each other, Klaus was just about to run from his father, so Klaus done what he could to get Bodie away: break his heart.

Bodie used to wonder as to what he would say to Klaus when they saw each other again, but this time, he couldn't think of anything to say. Don't get him wrong, there was a lot that he did want to say, but none that stuck around long enough for him to speak, he wanted to ask Klaus anything that came, but he feared that if he spoke, it would cause an argument.

He saw the way that Klaus' features shifted from anger to confusion to realisation and then to sadness. Though Bodie could tell that he was fighting to push down what he felt, he clung onto the idea of Klaus looking at him with sadness. For it was all that Bodie felt for thirty years (give or take) since Klaus broke his heart. For thirty years, Bodie hadn't heard a word from Klaus, only to be left with the assumption that he was the one behind all the sudden murders in some areas, causing fear and frightening those who dared crossed him.

   "Bodie," Klaus repeated.

"Okay, now that we've established that you know each other's names, Klaus, what the fuck are you doing here?" Henry asked.

Bodie, despite everything that he felt when he stared at Klaus, managed to look away, taking a step away from him. He'd noticed that Will was on his feet and was well, though the sour look on his face was clear—as was the look on Henry's face. Both not pleased with the idea that Klaus Mikaelson was in their house or the idea of him being back in Bodie's life.

Klaus allowed himself to hide what he felt, he stared at both Will and Henry for a brief moment before turning back to Bodie. He grinned then with a small chuckle. "Heretics. I've heard of you, the Original Vampire, and his Heretic pets. I honestly thought that it was just a rumour, it couldn't have been my Bodie who kept Heretics as his own personal pets."

Bodie rolled his eyes. "Klaus, please, they're my family."

   Klaus laughed. "Family?"

"Yeah, you know," Bodie shrugged, "considering that your father executed my entire family, leaving me with basically no one. Plus, they've been there for me through nearly everything."

Klaus rose a brow as he gave Bodie a look. "The actions of my father don't defy me, Bodie. But Heretics? I thought you'd like other company instead of some witches who think that they can have a say."

"Yeah and it was witches who had your ass against the wall long enough for help to come," Henry snapped. "Again, why are you here, Klaus?"

Klaus took a step back, his eyes observed the house around him, ignoring the death glares that he was getting from both Will and Henry. Bodie tried to ignore the burning need to touch Klaus, to hug him the way that he used to, but he knew that he couldn't, they weren't together. "I came because I heard the whispers of you doing werewolf experiments, and it captured my interest. What would a vampire and two Heretics need with a werewolf?"

"We weren't doing experiments on werewolves, Klaus. You know I wouldn't harm wolves at all," Bodie told. "All of that was just whispers, none of it was true."

"I thought we cleared ourselves of that rumour weeks ago," Will mumbled, crossing his arms.

Bodie then gave Klaus a look. "That's not why you're here, is it Klaus? You don't care for what I do, you're just using that as an excuse to cover up what you really want, aren't you?"

Klaus shrugged. "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. Maybe I'm just curious as to why word has gotten around about a werewolf being experimented on."

"Klaus," Bodie sighed. "This isn't a social visit, you don't do that unless you want to either make demands or threats. And considering that you're not here to threaten us, you clearly want something. So, stop stalling and tell us what you want."

"If you don't, it's going to be very tempting to throw you out of the window," Henry spoke with a slight grin. Henry always had a thing about throwing either himself or other people out of windows—it was concerning, Bodie probably should talk to him about it.

Klaus turned towards Henry, taking a step. "If I didn't know any better, you're threatening me. Normally I'd leave you without your heart, but I don't fancy an angry witch messing with my brain."

"Or, alternatively, you want to make sure that Bodie comes back to you, so killing one of us would end whatever remaining feelings are still there," Will stated.

Bodie groaned, running a hand over his face. "Can everyone shut up for a second, you're giving me a headache."

Klaus rose his hands innocently as if he hadn't done anything. Bodie cussed at himself internally when he caught himself watching Klaus' movement. He knew that he should just kick Klaus out of his house, but that was something which he couldn't do no matter how much he wanted to do it—he knew that Klaus rarely came to him for anything, so Klaus arriving here of all places, meant something. And Bodie wanted to know what it was.

"All of you, sit down," Bodie demanded. "If this is going to be a conversation that we're going to have, might as well make ourselves comfortable. Klaus, considering that you almost killed my friend, you can do the honours of fixing the couch, and another thing, Klaus, please don't try to kill either of these people otherwise I won't hesitate to team up with your father."

Klaus gave him the look which made Bodie's heart feel like it was flipping. He hadn't realised just how much he still cared for Klaus and how much he still felt when it came to him. Bodie tried his best every time they broke up to move on, he tried with many people, he really did, but he every time he saw Klaus or heard some news about Klaus, he felt like he was running back to him—or that he never left.

Klaus did what Bodie had demanded out of him—which was surprising—and put the couch back where it was. Or well, as close as to where it was, but Bodie wasn't in a position to nit-pick. Klaus came here for a reason, and Bodie wanted to find out exactly what it was. There was clearly more that Klaus was hiding, but Bodie couldn't tell if it was because he had himself pinned against the wall by Henry which was why he didn't say or if it was something else.

Yet despite everything, there was something nice about being in Klaus' presence. Okay, his heart hurt every time Bodie looked at him, but there was always something a little different about Klaus each time Bodie looked at him. No matter the century or the decade that they saw each other in, Bodie couldn't help but fall for him.

Like at the moment, Klaus wore a three-piece black and white suit, which somewhat reminded Bodie of Elijah. He's seen Klaus in suits before, but he always thought Klaus suited normal T-shirts and loose-legged jeans. But yet, it really didn't matter what Klaus wore, Bodie still found himself wishing that they never ended things the way that they did.

Bodie shook his head, he had to stop. There was no point in thinking about Klaus if Klaus pushed him away last time. Instead, Bodie decided to go to William just to see if he was actually okay or not. God, if anything happened to either Will or Henry, he'd rip this planet apart just to find a way for them to come back. Will assured Bodie that he was fine and that there was nothing to worry about, yet the clear blood stain in his shirt made Bodie think otherwise. He knew that Will liked that shirt—Bodie would have to try and find a replacement as a way to apologise, or maybe he could make Klaus get one and try and force an apology out of him.

"Can we get onto the discussion as to why I am here, I don't like to be kept waiting," Klaus impatiently said.

"I don't care," Bodie said. "You came into my house and threaten the lives of the people I care about, the least you can do is wait a moment."

Henry pulled a face as if he'd heard an inside joke and turned towards Will who shared a small smile. Both knew that it was one to demand the feared Klaus Mikaelson to do something, but to force him to wait and to have enough balls to snap at him was another. The twos face dropped when they took notice of Klaus' unimpressed face when he looked at them, they lowered their heads towards their laps.

"Drinks?" Bodie offered, placing four glasses down on the side table that he picked up from its side. He poured whiskey into all four and passed them to all without a response. Yet when Bodie passed Klaus his drink, he felt himself staring at Klaus as he took the offered drink. There was just something about Klaus which made Bodie loose himself, like always. Klaus was stunning and he couldn't help but stare. God, Bodie wished they were still together. Being in the same room as him was sometimes too much for Bodie to even process.

He shook his head and sat on the arm of the sofa opposite Klaus—the one that both Will and Henry was sat on. Bodie watched as Klaus swirled the whiskey and ice in his cup. There was something about watching Klaus, as if he was collecting his thoughts when he did that. In some odd way, there was something off putting about watching Klaus do that, like Bodie was waiting for Klaus to attack at any moment.

Bodie took in a breath. "What do you want, Klaus? Why come to me, of all people?"

Klaus looked up at Bodie then. "Because it came to my attention that the witches in Kingsbury are prepared to die when it comes to helping me. They said that if I were to get the aid of the witches, I should come to you and your little Heretics." He leant forward then. "It appears that over the six-seven hundred years of your existence as this, you've been collecting dark objects and Grimoires."

"We're not just going to give them to you." Will scoffed. "What does an Original Vampire need with witch spell books, anyway?"

Bodie's eyes somewhat widened, as if he worked out as to why. "You want to find a way to break the curse."

   "Curse?" Henry asked. "What curse?"

"The curse that bounds my werewolf side," Klaus responded. "You see, when dear old mother decided to turn my siblings and I, she failed to mention that I was the product of her cheating, meaning I was born a werewolf, and when I made my first kill, it was then that I realised who I was truly meant to be. But before I could reach who I was, Esther bound my wolf side."

"And what you need to break that curse is lost, Klaus," Bodie bluntly said. "You need the moonstone, a Petrova doppelgänger that hasn't got tendencies to off themselves with vampire blood in their system, and I don't even know what else. From what I'm aware, you have neither. You lost both when Katerina ran away and became a vampire, she took the moonstone and she's locked away in a tomb somewhere."

"Which is why, Bo, I'm trying to find another way without that," Klaus argued. "Witches have their loopholes in their spells, there's got to be another way for my curse to be broken."

Bodie tensed up at that, he knew that the nickname 'Bo' was something that Klaus used to always call him when they were together. There was something about the way that he said it now which made Bodie tense up. A part of him wanted to tell Klaus to not call him that, but he liked the sound of it in his voice.

"There probably isn't, Klaus," Bodie said, trying to put it as light as he could. "You know what your mother's spells are like. She probably carefully crafted that spell to make sure that there were no loopholes. I mean for gods sake, she used the immortality spell on you and your siblings just so that you could be stronger and faster than werewolves. I highly doubt that she would have left a loophole for you to find."

"And how would you know that, hmm?" Klaus asked, giving him a look.

Bodie clenched his jaw slightly. "Because I've been looking! I've been trying to find ways for you to break your curse without what was needed."

Klaus faintly smiled at that. "Well, I would say that's very kind of you, but considering that you've come up with nothing, it looks like I've got to take matters in my own hand. Now if you could give me those Grimoires, then that would be wonderful."

Henry let out a stiff laugh. "Like hell we're giving you our Grimoires. Witches have entrusted us with their spells, we're not just going to give them to you."

Klaus threw the glass down onto the floor, clearly losing his patience at getting denied at the option of finally becoming what he is. He rose to his feet quick which caused Bodie to rush to his side. Almost hesitantly, Bodie placed a hand on Klaus' arm, which made Klaus look at him.

"Klaus, we're not going to give them to you," Bodie said. Klaus was going to snap at Bodie then, but before he could, Bodie cut him off. "But we are going to help you. You've been denied of who you truly are for far too long, and I want to help you become that."

It felt wrong to be so close to Klaus, to touch him the way that he did, but it felt right in a way. He hadn't been this close to Klaus in decades so being this close to him, to smell the oddly familiar smell of faint blood and alcohol—on top of that the over-the-top deodorant which seemed to always suit Klaus, and of course: to touch him, was something that was somewhat overwhelming for Bodie. He wasn't sure as to why Klaus held so much power over him when it came to his feelings but somehow he did.

Bodie knew that it would take time to get back into Klaus' good grace, but the need to be by Klaus' side and to help Klaus with anything and everything was high. All Bodie wanted to do was help Klaus in hopes that they would be back as one. He didn't care for the long line of enemies that they made over time that would want to threaten Klaus with Bodie's life, all Bodie wanted in that moment was Klaus and his trust.

"I don't need you, Bo," Klaus said. "All I need is those Grimoires."

Something inside Bodie twisted, like the spoken words of not being needed was a white oak stake being twisted and etching towards his heart. It hurt. But he guessed so many years of being separate would mean that they wouldn't need each other like they used to.

"Then," Bodie slowly said, "you're not getting the Grimoires." He tilted his head up slightly, taking a step away from Klaus. "You said it yourself, the witches would rather die than help you, if you have me, Will, and Henry by your side, the witches might help. And if not, you still have two witches."

"Who the hell said that we would help him?" Henry asked, offended. He then let out a yelp when Will hit his side. "Ow! What?"

Klaus paused for a moment as if he was thinking about what the best move would be. Though Bodie knew better than to assume that Klaus needed time to think. It took Bodie a second to stop and think—Klaus wouldn't come anywhere if it meant that there was something he needed but needed some form of distraction long enough to get what he needed.

"William," Bodie said. "Check the room, Klaus gets what Klaus wants, no matter our say. If you find someone," a small smirk appeared on Will's face, "you know what to do."

Will stood up and went to make a move but before he could, Klaus moved (cursed speed) to stop Will from doing what Bodie asked of him. Bodie laughed slightly then, more at the fact that he knew what he thought was true, and the fact that Will and Klaus having a fight would be amusing to him slightly. But altogether, Bodie knew that Will would definitely lose at the hands of Klaus.

Henry and Bodie shared a small look as Henry then took over what Bodie instructed Will to do. Klaus took notice of the movement, of Henry rushing past him, and within that moment, Will flicked his hand, causing Klaus to let out a yell of pain. Bodie was overly familiar with the spell. Migraines from witches sucked so much.

Bodie scrunched his face slightly, there was always pain in watching the one he cared for being in immense pain but knowing that Klaus would harm both Will and Henry for trying to find who else Klaus came with while he—Klaus—distracted them. Bodie should've caught on a lot earlier of what Klaus was doing, he just hoped that he was being paranoid.

"You know, Klaus," Bodie said, walking towards Klaus who was on his knees. "I would have helped you, but instead you come into my house and attempt to steal. I thought you trusted me, Klaus."

Klaus grunted in pain, holding his head. "I should have killed your precious friends when I had the chance!"

   "And you didn't," Bodie said.

Just when Bodie was going to say something else, Henry had fallen from the top of the stairs, his face covered in blood. Yet he held onto something while curled into a ball. He was chanting something under his breath just as someone was descending from the stairs. Will lost his focus, just enough for Klaus to move and grab his throat, snapping Will's neck. Bodie yelled at that.

"Klaus!" Bodie yelled as he dropped to Will's side. He knew that William would heal, but the thought of Will being like this hurt him. He'd felt his rage sink into him and flow through his veins like fresh blood would. He felt the way that his eyes changed, the yellow of his iris was clear, but he tried to push that down enough to hide what he was.

He turned to see how Henry was trying his best to keep both Klaus and Elijah away from him by throwing them back as much as he could, he was breaking their arms and their legs to keep them away. Henry was clutching a Grimoire in one arm and using the other as a way to use his magic to break the duo's bones. Though Bodie took notice more on how Henry was siphoning the Grimoire which Bodie didn't know held magic for it to be taken.

Bodie sighed, moving towards both brothers. He grabbed Klaus behind his neck and—once again—throwing him back. He then kicked Elijah down and faced Henry who lowered his hand and tried to quickly.

"Elijah, Klaus, what the fuck?" Bodie asked as he then hummed. "And I thought you both would have wanted to see me and, you know, have a nice conversation about helping and what good use friendship is. But clearly, both your communication skills suck."

"Stop with your insufferable speaking!" Klaus snapped, sitting up from where he laid. "Just give me what I want, and I'll be on my way."

"No." Bodie said. "No, I offered my help, and you go behind my back and do this! If you think that you're getting anything of mine, you're going to have to kill me."

"Just him, please, I value my life!" Henry said, still very much clutching the spell book.

Elijah cleared his throat. "There will not be any killings today, no matter how much they don't listen."

Bodie looked down at Elijah. "I would say its good to see you, Eli, but you beat the shit out of my friend, so I wouldn't say it's exactly good."

Elijah somewhat smirked at that as he shared a look with Klaus. There were times when Bodie forgot that these two could either be the worst or best duo to be together, but at this point, he was more annoyed at the fact that the came into his home and chose to steal. Bodie honestly thought that they would have known him, would've known that he would offer to help in return of what they wanted.

"Bo—" Henry choked. Bodie turned to see how Klaus had his hand in Henry's chest, the Grimoire laying on the floor, yet despite that, Bodie couldn't help but feel as he was being used or cheated out of doing something good.

"Klaus, let him—" before Bodie had the chance to finish his sentence, Elijah snapped his neck, leaving his body to drop on the floor as if he were nothing.

Bodie never thought that neither Klaus nor Elijah would do something like this. He was always used to aiding them in the best of his ability, and the one time that he offered both his help and the chance to look through the Grimoires that they had.

Bodie wasn't sure how long he was out for, but when he woke up both Will and Henry were sat leaning against the wall with a bottle of whiskey between them, both taking swings of it. Bodie felt himself smile at the fact that Klaus hadn't killed either of them—though Bodie really wanted to find Klaus and ruin any chances that he had. If he hadn't been so stupid and caught up in how he felt towards Klaus, then both of his friends wouldn't have been hurt at all. He should've been smarter about it, he should've been smarter than his godforsaken feelings for Klaus.

"Took you long enough," Will said. "Thought you'd never wake up."

"Hoped actually." Henry added. "I forgot how much it hurt having someone's hand around my heart."

"I'm sorry," Bodie told. "I should've never let either of you get involved in any of this."

Will scoffed as Henry took a quick sip from the whiskey bottle. "Too late, now, Bodie. They've got one of the Grimoires that some ancient witch gave to us for safe keeping. It was lucky that the witch left some magic in that thing otherwise Henry would've been dead."

"I don't think Klaus liked the idea of me breaking his bones much," Henry tried to joke. "Or pining him against the wall for as long as I did. I think that was just a threat or warning or something."

"Fuck," Bodie muttered. "Track him. Track both of them."

"What are you going to do when you find them?" Will asked.

"Threaten everyone Klaus cares about, maybe then he'll realise that he doesn't touch either of you without consequence," Bodie told.

"You mean his siblings?" Henry asked.

Bodie nodded. "Lucky for me, I have one of Kol's old rings. Where one daggered sibling is, the rest are."

Will chuckled then. "You're gonna get yourself killed."

Bodie smiled slightly at that. "Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Maybe I'll just test the waters."
