Their Favourite Book
It was such a dreamy encounter she can't stop reliving it. For as long as she has lived, she never thought that someone would actually notice her by her favourite book.
She was just browsing through the multitude of fiction books on the shelf, when she saw him talking to his well-known group of friends in one corner of the library. Everything about him melted her like a candle burning surreptitiously in the dark, and she sighed—a bit wistfully—at the far-reaching dream of being able to talk to him at all.
He would never notice me, she thought.
Then, mentally swatting the hopeless reflection from distracting her mind, she continued her search for the book she wanted among the shelf. Stumbling upon it after a few minutes, heart racing with happiness, she reached out for a book she loved so much and proceeded back to her seat at the farthest corner of the building.
Someone seemed to be following her, and she hastened her steps without looking back. Just as she was opening her book, a hand reached for the chair in front of her and sat upon it. She looked up, and—heart nearly having an attack—it was him. Whatever is he doing here?
'I like that book. I was searching for it but I saw you walked away with it.' he said, smiling that beautiful smile she had long adored from a distance.
So they spent the morning having a keen talk on the book; the astonishing details of the characters, the ingenuity of the plot, and how lovely it was that they could meet over a book they shared a similar interest in. Before they part, the boy said:
'That has been terrific. Maybe another book discussion in the future?'
The girl nodded, and gave the brightest beam she had ever given to anyone else in her life.
