And I truly believe that to love another—a significant other—is actually a lesson in itself. We have always been fed with the notion that true love only exists between two souls sharing too many similarities that they complete each other. But experience taught me otherwise. True love is born out of the hurdles and trials you battle through when being with a person entirely different from you. The act of a sincere love constitutes the act of appreciating and accepting another human being of a complete opposite from us. Love is a channel to embrace the flaws and to adore the finer points that we don't share with one another. With this in mind, then only we can proclaim true love—a sense of embracing and needing another human being different from us, and still be able to fit perfectly into each other. See? It is a lot like a jigsaw puzzle; to complete the whole picture—and a beautiful one at that—you have to find a different piece, instead of one that is so much alike to you.
