She was trapped in a life that she no longer wanted. Her wings clipped by a man that had nothing but contempt for her, used to her singing sweet praises at his every whim. He had grown comfortable that she'd always flurry to his side at the crook of his fingers. Her faux golden cage had always been so easy to cover, shielding her from his secrets, until they inevitably were released as secrets usually do spill forth.

She tried to spread her wings and explore, but knowing that she could destroy everything she worked so hard for if she strove to find her true heart. All the walls of her life had the potential to come crumbling down around her. Her paper mache world stood with a delicate fragility, against the diamond tears that threatened to break down her cheeks at any moment.

Her heart was trapped. It was released once and she tasted the sweet freedom in the arms of another woman but she was never brave to truly tackle the new relationship and make it all that she could. It did however open up a new side of her that gave her a hunger to follow her true path.

Torn between these to two paths, she stood at the fork, desperately wanting to find the strength and courage to do so. One path, shadowed by the facade of her life, dark and gloomy, fraught with many obstacles that she'd have to deal and come to terms with. The other, while bathed in a golden light of freedom, came with its own set of issues. She'd have raise her child alone. The support that she had previously had from her fragile world, would dissolve at her fingertips. Fair weather acquaintances would spread their wings and fly away. The song bird would be all alone.

She stood on the cusp of one of the most important life changing challenges that she'd stood face to date. She weighs the pros and cons heavily in her mind. Her thoughts become tortured as time passes. The sparkle fades from her eyes as she struggles with her inner turmoils. She moves through her life, going through the automatic motions of her fragile world. She does what needs to be done, hiding her true self from everyone around her. Her song is silent for now, but one day she'll spread her wings and fly free from her gilded cage. Her song will be heard around the world and her eyes will sparkle with life again.
