55- Keith
So, what were you to do when you were given a choice?
Some would say you'd weigh the pros and cons of each decision before finally deciding on the one that would benefit you the most. Others, however, would argue that you should follow your heart.
If Keith were supposed to follow his heart, then why wouldn't the damn thing give him a straight answer already? He frowned at the set of clothing he had laying out on his bed. On his left side sat a pair of torn up black jeans (regretfully from his old goth 'friends' he no longer spoke to) and a black graphic t-shirt that had a koi fish surrounded by roses around it.
On his right side laid an ironed-out button up pink shirt and khaki pants. So basically, go with the Keith look or look like a total fuckboy.
Keith brought his hands to the sides of his head and grabbed fistfuls of hair and groaned out loud in frustration. Why the hell couldn't he just decide on this insignificant little thing? It wasn't like a single outfit would make or break his day would it?
"Seriously?" A blonde eyebrow raised as Vivian pursed her lips. She had been sitting at Keith's desk, watching her brother as he tried to figure out what to do. "You're just going on a date... no need to worry so much over it."
Keith glared at her and rolled his eyes, "Because someone who has never gone on a single date in her life is the person I should listen to for advice?"
Vivian scowled. "Rude." She looked down at phone as if she were checking to see if anyone had messaged her. Then, she waved the device around in the air as she continued, "Lance is like, totally head over heels for you so I think you can get through the date without him even noticing the outfit you're wearing but if you're asking me; the torn Jeans and button-up shirt would make an interesting matchup. Very Keith-like to wear torn jeans but also very Christian boy like to wear the button up. Chaotic neutral I guess."
'Jesus Christ,' Keith thought to himself as he looked down at the clothes, 'Christian-like? Why the hell would I want to wear that?' Even so, she had a point now that he looked at the outfits laid out below him critically. That would be the better of the two wouldn't it? He grimaced at the thought of someone in the acting industry bumping into him on the street wearing that but at the same time, he would look somewhat cute for Lance, right?
Glancing at Vivian he reluctantly picked the items of clothing up off his bed and draped them over his left arm. "Thanks, I guess..." He mumbled under his breath.
Vivian narrowed her eyes at her older brother as she began to scoot the swivel chair she sat in closer to the boy. Keith frowned as he looked down at her, wondering why the hell the blonde girl was making an uncomfortable amount of eye contact with him. She was close enough to him so that if he gently blew air out from between his lips, it would move the one stray strand of hair from her face.
"We should get you a haircut." The corners of her lips curled up into an amused smile as Keith recoiled in disgust, taking a step back. How could she even mention that? He loved his mullet. It was a special part of him. "Mullets died years ago sweetie, it isn't doing you any favors and let's be real, you'd look cuter with short white hair not a white mullet."
"Get out," Keith hissed and placed his palm against his sister's head in order to push her away from him. "I'll never cut this off."
"Jesus, you want to be single, don't you?"
Keith's face began to burn from a mixture of embarrassment and anger. Why did Vivian have to come into his room and criticize him? He just wanted to get ready for his first date with his boyfriend and maybe even share a kiss with Lance. The fleeting memory of Lance's lips timidly pressing against his own made Keith forget about his annoying little sister for a moment as he stretched his hand up and placed his index finger against his bottom lip.
Sure, he had kissed other actors and models, but nothing compared to the kiss Lance gave him. Sometimes he'd get slobber on his chin, but he didn't mind too much because his heart would flutter the moment, they touched lips. It was strange but he loved the pure euphoria of this. It was like a drug he couldn't resist.
"Can I at least style your hair up a bit?" Vivian placed her chin on the palm of her hand as she looked up at Keith, her large eyes practically begging him to give her something to do.
Keith rolled his eyes and grabbed the clothes Vivian had suggested to him earlier. "Sure whatever, just turn around so I can get dressed."
The blonde girl followed his orders and shuffled her feet across the carpeted floor in order to turn around and hide her face away from her brother as he began to untie the waist ties on his sweatpants. Keith was careful about moving too fast since his was still sore from the surgery he had a while ago. He carefully slid the jeans up and over his legs and kept them unzipped while his slipped his t-shirt off his body and threw it on the floor next to his sweatpants.
Sliding the sleeves of the button up over his arms he hesitated a moment and stared down at the scar on his abdomen. A small sigh escaped his lips as he tried to ignore any thoughts of the hospital that crossed his mind while he began to button the pink shirt up. He quickly tucked it in and zipped his Jean's closed before looking at his reflection in the mirror near him.
Jesus fuck; he looked hideous.
There wasn't anything wrong with the shirt or jeans just him. He looked like a stupid farm boy with his shirt tucked in all he needed was a straw hat and a weed sticking out of his mouth while he said stereotypical things like 'howdy partner' and 'y'all' to fit the roll. The cringe levels were just absolutely through the roof. The mullet? Now that he looked at it... it should probably be trimmed up a bit.
He wanted to just scream in agony as he ripped his shirt out from his jeans and tried to figure out how to let it rest on his body while also making it look like a Keith look but how do you do that when it was pink?
Vivian peeked over her shoulder to see the white-haired boy fretting over his outfit as he fidgeted uncomfortably about where he stood, tugging at the end s of his shirt trying to figure out what Lance would find more appealing on him.
The blonde girl laughed a little to herself as she pushed up out of the chair and tiptoed over to her brother. Slowly reaching her hands out, she placed them on his shoulders and leaned around his body to meet his purple gaze with a gentle and sympathetic smile on her face. "May I?"
Keith pouted like a small child who had just witnessed his mother ignore his cries to go look at the toy section in a department store in favor for the fabric section as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Might as well," he grumbled under his breath. Why was she being nice?
Vivian happily slid around Keith's figure and stood between him and the mirror, blocking him from seeing what he looked like as she went to work at making him look appealing. First, she undid the first two buttons of Keith's shirt he had done all the way to the top so that the top of his chest was exposed slightly. Then, she partially tucked in the front right side of his shirt and had him ruffle up his hair before she began to run her fingers through the white locks of fluff.
Throughout all of this, her eyebrows would knit together now and then as she fell into thought about how to fix her brother up for his date. When she was done, she sprayed him with a light smelling cologne named 'Destiny' and quickly stepped away in order to present her work to him.
His eyes widened slightly as he looked at himself in the mirror. He actually looked kind of good. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he appreciated the effort his sister had put into making him look so damn great. Having his shirt unbuttoned a bit and only half tucked in made him look a little laid back and somehow made the pink shirt work for his fiery personality. Not to mention his white hair was now pushed back to reveal his face a bit more than normal so it added a flare to the outfit he wouldn't have thought of on his own.
He glanced over at the young girl who seated herself on Keith's bed. "Thank you, Viv," He said gently. He then proceeded to reach a handout to ruffle the locks of blonde hair on her head, "Why are you being nice to me today?"
Vivian smacked his hand away and stuck her tongue out at him, "I just want you to actually succeed in this relationship so you can get away from Sandra faster before her and dad find out you're dating a guy..."
Keith clenched his jaw. He had forgotten about that little detail during the time he spent with Lance. Sandra and her husband would simply brush Keith's sexuality off as a fling if they caught wind of it but if they found out it was real and true teen romance, they would milk it for all the media coverage they could especially since Keith had his upcoming TV-drama to begin working for. He wouldn't be a normal teen kid at that point and Lance wouldn't be given the space he needed to heal.
Keith clicked his tongue as he grabbed his phone from his bedside table and scrunched his nose up at the thought of his parents finding out about Lance. "Well, this will have to be our secret then?" He looked at his sister as he prepared himself to leave.
Vivian nodded, "Our dirty little secret."
-------------
Oh my god an update?
So, I'm splitting this into two parts as well because I wanted to have the date between Keith and Lance to be focused on quite a bit and I didn't expect to write nearly 2k words for the introduction. It will probably be in Keith's POV again, but it may be in Lance's, I haven't decided just yet.
What is in store for this story in the future now that I've gotten SOME motivation back?
Well there will be more interactions between the characters especially Lance and Allura, Pidge and Shiro, and Hunk and Keith(maybe). There's a lot of characters to juggle all at once so it's a bit hard to do sometimes but I'll try. I'm going to start Allura on her healing process in her upcoming chapter for sure so that there will be less trigger warnings while also keeping it as close to reality as possible.
Keith will have more going on in his personal life (his job), and Shiro will be going through a dilemma for a bit while Hunk just kind of works through problems and Pidge tries to figure out his life while dealing with bullying at school for being who he is.
I think this about covers what I have in mind??? Prom chapter(s), when they show up, will be lonnnnnnnnnng and will take a bit to get out so be patient when the time for them to happen comes. I'll give a warning on the delay when the chapter before it comes out, so you get a head up instead of radio silence for months.
Thank you for being patient with me and my medical issues that have been keeping me from writing. Take good care of yourselves!!!
