52- Lance

Stay tuned till the end for my review on season 8 that will try to be spoiler free!

Also, I apologize to you all for almost two months of inactivity, however, life really screwed me over if you guys aren't up to date on what has been happening. I got a kidney infection a few days prior to the end of my hiatus which pushed it back a few more days since I had to really focus on managing my diet and taking the proper medicine/supplements I needed to take in order to get better. When I got better (I still have minor discomfort) I started writing this chapter but then something bad happened :(

I live on a farm and therefore I have a lot of farm cats around my house obviously. I love my cats, they are my children. I go outside and feed + water them every day on a schedule, I just love them a lot. One of them, a cat that I actually got the opportunity to watch grow from a new little kitten into a grumpy adult, broke her leg. her leg got caught in farm equipment and in order to escape she must have broken it beyond repair unfortunately. We brought her to the vet four days later when we finally caught her and it turned out she severed her nerve in her foot, an infection had taken over it, and she had licked the wound to the bone. Seeing that this cat is like my child, I couldn't put her down so I opted to get her leg amputated with the money I had been saving up over the year I've been working and so I had to work a little harder to get more cash and to also make a safe home environment for my new pet. I would post a photo but Wattpad wont let me! so, that is where I have been! I apologize again.

---------------------------------------------------

Sweat dripped down into the boy's brow as he breathed heavily, his heart pounding up against his ribcage as his stomach twisted and gurgled in protest. His mouth was open as a trail of saliva dripped from his lip and down into the water he kneeled above. Tears pricked his eyes making them burn as he coughed trying to force himself to not do the one thing his body was so used to doing.

Lance didn't want to purge anymore.

His right hand closed around the soft fabric of his shirt above his stomach. "Come on," He whispered hoarsely as he spat his saliva out into the toilet. "Just stay down!" He grumbled as he pushed his closed fist up against his skinny body.

He begged and begged his stomach to listen to his wishes but it was all for naught for he could not hold it down anymore. He flushed the toilet in defeat and pulled his knees to his chin and gave a deep sigh. Was this all he was good for? He had been doing so well at keeping it down but for reason he just couldn't control his old habit today. Old habits die hard, huh?

A soft knock at the door sounded and a relaxing voice sounded from the other side, "Eh we all have days where we fail, but that's part of the healing process mi sol," Vincent spoke softly. "I'm bringing Christian and Heidi out to the mall for the stupid clothes shopping mom wanted me to do; do you want to get your prom outfit while I'm out?"

Lance lifted his head and wiped the tears on his face away with the red sweater's sleeve he wore, "Yeah, let me just brush my teeth..." He sniffled as he forced himself to stand up.

His legs were a bit wobbly at first as he stood up causing him to grab onto the sink for support. He managed to stand up normally. He didn't dare look at the mirror as he grabbed his toothbrush and toothpaste. Keith and Vincent's friend had left around the same time at three. The entire time he had spent with his boyfriend was like some sort of eternal torture as he tried to keep himself from running to the bathroom as they happily ate the cake they had made together. He loved seeing how happy Keith had gotten as the boy joyfully stuffed his face with the cake he worked so hard on. The smile Keith had as he shoved each forkful in his mouth was that of a child seated in front of a buffet for their very first time; pure euphoria.

He wiped his face clean on the toothpaste on his chin and gently ran a hand through his hair before finally turning around to open the door to find his big brother waiting for him. Vincent did a finger gun motion at him and winked, "Aye, you live!" Lance didn't even force a smile onto his face as he stared at his brother with a stoic face. Vincent rolled his eyes and carefully fixed his sweater vest he wore, "Patrick is with his friend and mom is out with the girls as usual so like I said it'll just be us and the little demons."

Lance shrugged a bit and glanced around the kitchen with a tiny frown on his face, "And where might they be exactly?" Lance asked out of curiosity.

Vincent pointed to the open front door, "Car," He stated.

Lance sighed and placed his hand on his face, "You left two children alone in a car?" he waved his hand around a bit all the while giving his brother a little look of disbelief.

Vincent took a moment to give his little brother a strange look as if he heard absolutely nothing wrong with that sentence, then his brown eyes widened as he shoved lance out of the way and mumbled a string of curse words as he rushed out the front door nearly falling face first into the grass next to the walkway. Lance shook his head a little bit as he grabbed his phone and a little umbrella just in case Texas decided to give them a surprise rain shower again today. After locking the house up, the tall and slender figured boy got into the car to find Heidi and Christian yelling at Vincent to play a song for them. Vincent struggled to find a song but Lance simply hit the play button on the car's CD player and turned the volume up so that his mother's favorite band began playing for the energetic children in the backseat.

Vincent wasn't too keen on listening to the old music their mother adored but Lance didn't mind since he was going to be looking out the window anyway. A part of him felt like it had been left inside of his home when he couldn't stop himself from throwing up. He felt empty, only a piece of the person he once was. It was a feeling he had while his sister had turned her back on him and when his father emotionally manipulated and borderline abused him. He was ashamed to be back to where he started and he wanted nothing more than to cry in his room wishing that those clouds he painted over were still there. He wanted to feel proud of himself again but he couldn't when those few days of hard work and suffering were all for nothing.

He leaned his head against the cold window and stared out at the city as Vincent and the young kids in the back played games of 'I Spy'. What was he to do with himself now; this empty shell of a person? Start over the healing process and find himself falling into disappointment and despair once more? The idea sent shivers down Lance's spine as he tugged up on the collar of his sweater in order to cover the tips of his freezing cold ears from the AC that Vincent was blasting as he guessed what the children were giving him hints to.

He let out a deep sigh as he watched how happy the people outside were. Perhaps when he got through this rough patch in his life he would be smiling like that? After a few minutes they pulled into the mall's parking lot and Christian jumped onto his father's back while Heidi gently took Lance's hand with an innocent smile plastered across her face. "We get to shop for you today," She said excitedly as she began to tug Lance along through the parking lot, skipping with each step.

Lance smiled down at his little sister and watched as her two little pigtails bounced with her, "We sure are, though," Lance glanced over to Vincent as Christian tugged at the exhausted man's black curly hair and made Vincent make neighing sounds as if he were a horse. "I don't think Vincent should give me fashion advice if you ask me," Lance whispered to his little sister as they entered the mall.

Heidi wrinkled her nose at Lance, "Nope! Especially if this outfit will give me that niece I want!" She tugged Lance forward causing his eyebrows to nearly fly off his face as he stumbled after the short girl.

Heidi dashed around, pulling Lance along as she jumped up and down pointing her little fingers at the displays in the windows squealing whenever she saw a dress she loved that was small enough to fit her. Vincent stopped to admire the women coming in and out of Victoria's Secret before Christian started shouting that he had to go to the bathroom to 'make chocolate' as he said, or, well, shouted. Vincent turned bright red and made a daring escape to get his son to the bathroom before he had to buy a new shirt for himself.

While waiting for his brother and nephew, Lance took his little sister over to the koi fish pond so that she could admire it. He smiled as he seated himself on the edge of the bench looking over the pond while Heidi ran around sprinkling fish food into it, sticking her tongue out and squealing when they accidentally splashed her fighting for the food she gave them. He loved seeing his little sister enjoying herself like a kid should be. He couldn't remember the moment he had stopped being like that but a small pain pricked at his heart as if a thorny rose bush were tangling itself around it. He knew he was his happiest as a child when he was with his father. That terrible, lying, scum of the earth had given him some of his best memories and left the empty shell of a teen in a bitter disappointment. He remembered running along the beach shore, toes in the warm sand, sun rays beating down of his sweaty and wet skin as his father chased him down before lifting him into the air and dragging him back into the ocean water.

Why couldn't that current have taken him away?

He would've gladly washed up on a deserted island all alone if it meant never going through the pain his father put him through. His smile had long faded and his face shadowed over as he remembered the clouds that once blotted the ceiling of his room. Even with this pain, at least he got something very precious out of it; Keith. Even though Lance made a complete dick out of himself through all this mess, Keith still liked him and didn't try to push him away. What a great boyfriend. Man, if his dad were to see him now, he would blow a fuse seeing his son with another guy.

That thought returned the small smile to Lance's face as he continued to watch his sister jump around with the other kids feeding the fish. Maybe Lance should bring her to see Keith's pond one day and let her touch the fish?

"Alright, the situation is handled and now we are all clear to go find you a suit," Vincent came out of the bathroom holding Christians hand as he tried to pry himself away from his dad's side in order to run wild and wreak havoc upon the poor souls of the shoppers.

Lance called Heidi and watched as her smile turned into a scowl as she reluctantly dropped the last bit of fish food into the pond and stomped over to Lance's side. "Oh Heidi, don't look so upset," He said softly as he held his hand out to her. When she crossed her arms and pouted he leaned in close to her ear, "Keith has a Koi pond at his house, and he'll let you touch the fish!"

Heidi did a complete turnaround in her mood as she grabbed onto Lance's hand roughly and smiled up at him, "Okay!"

The rest of his day went by faster than he anticipated it to. Suit after suit got turned down as Lance looked himself in the mirror and cringed before he yelled at his brother for picking the tackiest looking ones he had ever seen. Diagonal stripes, sequins, velvet, horizontal, pineapple print, you name it and he got it thrown over the top of the changing room door. Each one he rejected he got two more back and some he threw back over the top simply due to him rejecting it before.

However, when Heidi held her choice under the door giggling with excitement as Christopher peeked under the door at a shirtless Lance, he recognized this one to be very different from Vincent's crappy choices. He booped his nephew's nose hoping he hadn't seen the giant bruise on his abdomen and thanked Heidi as he took her tribute. He slid each piece over his body and secured it before looking up at the mirror with awe in his blue eyes. She had mismatched different suit jackets and pants to create this strange pastel colored concoction that clashed together so perfectly that it was a crime.it framed his body so that no one could ever tell he was bulimic. The button up shirt was white but the pants and tie were bubblegum pink and the jacket was baby blue. Altogether, the colors complimented his dark skin and made him look oddly handsome and he never admitted that.

The corners of his lips curled into an innocent smile. He adored it.

He carefully redressed himself and stepped out with the outfit neatly folded in his hands, "This one is perfect," He told Vincent as his brother scolded his son for sticking his head up under the skirt of a mannequin. He lowered his blue eyes to his little sister who was staring back up at him with an eager expression, "I love it so much, thank you Heidi."

She stuck her thumb up and puffed out her chest, "I knew it was perfect!"

They checked out the suit and thanked the cashier for dealing with them staying there for an hour. She was more than happy to tell them that she didn't mind but with the way she had been checking her watch while Vincent counted his cash meant she actually wanted to be doing something else.

He was truly feeling better, the things that happened earlier in the day were nothing but a blur to the teen boy who seated himself in the passenger's seat and hunkered down to spam Keith with annoying emojis telling him he got the suit finally. However, before they even left the parking lot, Vincent slammed on his breaks with wide eyes. Lance was swearing under his breath as he rubbed his neck where the seatbelt had dug into his skin and followed his brother's gaze to see something from Lance's nightmares.

His mother was kissing a man about her height. He looked about her age with greying brown hair and pale skin. He looked like a business man, someone with good taste in clothing and style judging by the man's car he was leaning up against. Lance felt numbness make its way through his body as he leaned back into his seat distraught by what he just witnessed.

Why would his mother ever trust another man after what happened with Lance's father.

Why?

Why would she betray her children's trust by welcoming another man into their lives just when they were finally becoming a family once again?

As tears pricked at his eyes causing his vision to go blurry, he couldn't think of any other question except for one; how could she?

Ah yes, season 8.

What a fucking disaster. I went into it not having too low of expectations but also not having high expectations so I wouldn't be too disappointed. I had already hear it was a train wreck but heck, I didn't realize how bad it was.

So the main focus of the final season is Allura vs Haggar/Honerva. This season showed me not only is voltron not really as amazing as I once thought it was but also that Allura is just kind of a shit character. When I say she is a bad character, I mean, holy hell, she is terrible. Before you Allura stans attack me, hear me out please. Looking at the show from a different perspective and looking at each of the characters as a whole, Allura shows too many flaws that would outweigh the good in her, or what is left of it by the end of season 8.

She is impulsive, she holds too much hate in her which leads her to do destructive things, and honestly, she's really selfish.

Going back a few seasons, during Lotor's final stand, when he was trying to convince Allura that his intentions were true and had goodness behind them, Allura refused to listen and allowed her feelings to push her into the impulsive decision of attacking him before anyone could tell her to stop. This put everyone at risk even if it revealed Lotor's true plan. She could have ended voltron if they hadn't gotten lucky enough to defeat him in the quintessence field. And I mean, yeah he played that girl like a fiddle but his love for her seemed almost genuine and not as if he were using her but no one really knows this due to his manipulative nature.

She guy hopped harder than a fuckboy girl hops okay. I don't need to expand on this except like, really Allura? Gonna play my boy Lance like that right after you killed your ex-boyfriend and flipped him over your shoulder? God damn. Shiro ain't safe from this shit either, y'hear?

Allura is really selfish. the entirety of season 8 showed this. her main drive to defeat Honerva was the fact she wanted to end the war, to make honerva pay for all the crap Allura has been through. Yes, she gave that up at one point to save Lance and was prepared to sacrifice herself multiple times in previous seasons, but this season brought out all her terrible flaws. She literally put herself in danger by connecting herself with honerva.

SPOILERS ON THE WAY WATCH OUT!!

by connecting herself to Honerva and going to the astral plain to go into Honerva's memories with the others, she put them too at risk and acted more Galran than Altean. Vrepit Suh/Sa means victory or death to Galra soldiers and I feel like she followed that in the final season more than any Altean principal we know. She put all the paladins at risk, even the man she claimed she loves? Who the hell would do such a thing aside from someone who is selfish? a selfless person would try to find a way where their allies wouldn't suffer with her but she never tried to find this other option and instead went to the astral plain with everyone. When they found and free the souls of the first paladins, her father recognized the darkness she held within her.

Something he said surprised me, "At what cost?"

Yes, Alfor is supposed to be a loving father but I feel like in the moments where he and Allura argue over the dark energy inside of her, he is trying to bring her back to her senses and putting aside his feelings as a father for the good of the universe. the dark energy could kill Allura at any second because she is directly connected to Honerva. Even so, she refuses to destroy her connection to the witch despite the two people she loved telling her to stop and to get rid of the dark energy. When she finds the innocent Zarkon's soul she doesn't waste a second in order to give him the memories of pain and destruction he had caused. She didn't wait for him to question why everyone was so hostile towards him.

This is where my Vrepit Suh/Sa and Galra personality come into play. when Honerva tries to get them out of her mind Keith tells everyone to push forward and Zarkon says along the lines of; "That is the galra blood that runs through you and I." Victory or death.

Allura, throughout the final season shows many signs of holding this lifestyle whether intentional or not and personally, I disliked it.

Now, what I really disliked about the final season was how they portrayed Honerva in the end. She was a victim herself if you look at her story as a whole.

It started when she found the dark energy that came from the quintessence field and begin her experimentations on it. When she met zarkon and married him this energy kept drawing her in more and more like it had done to allura possibly showing Honerva the same illusions Allura experienced if those weren't actually Honerva's doing. When Honerva became pregnant, she and Zarkon were excited. they meshed their liniege together in order to name their child Lotor to honor both races. He was there to truly unite them in a way. Then she died with her unborn son. Zarkon, a grieving father and husband believed the only way to be happy was with his family and tried to bring them back. In this state, Honerva clearly couldn't give consent because she is fucking dead. I am positive that if Zarkon truly knew what would happen if he did that and knew the consequences to come, he wouldn't have done this.

Now, waking up with amnesia, Honerva didn't know who she was or what she was. she had no identity only to assume the name Haggar after killing a doctor with the same name. She later gave birth to a child she held no memories or love for and it clearly traumatized her seeing how she refused to even look at Lotor when the doctors tried to give him to her. She couldn't remember anything from her past and then being forced to give birth to something you didn't know was yours will hold a heavy weight on a person. She showed lotor, her own son, resentment probably due to the fact shebirthed him without knowing the memories of love she felt for him.

When she regained her memories finally, her husband had already passed and being rejected by her own son ruined her moral. when she learned of his death, she was heartbroken and began to pursue a life where she could be with her family once again and be truly happy but this meant destroying other realities she passed through to get to her family. To be honest with you I truly feel for Honerva. When she finally reached the reality she wanted she was thrilled to be reunited with her now living, and innocent husband. However, when she reached out to hug her son, Young Lotor realized that she wasn't the true Honerva. the one that had birthed him and the one he loved so dearly.

Being rejected by the last two people she loved in the entire universe, she began to destroy every other reality and killed countless lives because she couldn't have the happy ending she always wanted and had been forced to live in the war torn world she and the man she loved accidentally gave birth to.

When her final scenes happened I believe that there was a better way to have handled it. instead of Allura talking down honerva and restoring the last bit of her memories, they should have made it like so.

Honerva, at her knees stares at the ground in defeat as the paladins approach her. she explains that all she ever wanted was to be reunited with her family she never got a chance to live with. As she tells them this she should have began crying to truly show the grief she was feeling from being rejected from all realities and even her own family. Allura talks to her, reassures her that there was a time when she did have that happiness, and then restores her memories. Honerva realizes everything she had done wrong and tells them there was no redemption for the acts she had committed but Allura tells her that they could bring every reality back to life if they sacrificed their own and holds her hand out to her. Honerva takes it and gives her life in order to fix some of the misdeeds she had committed. Then, on Altea, Next to Allura's statue, they should've had a plaque that honored Honerva's sacrifice as well for without her, Allura couldn't have fixed space and time.

Voltron is a victim of poor writing and a victim of a studio that didn't know what they wanted to do with a show that held so much potential. There are many more problems with this season like the fact they ruined characaters, proved that you can make a show without giving your main characters any real development, and that kinda queerbaiting is okay-ish. Yes, I am salty about Klance but we all knew it wasn't going to canon with their struggle to get shiro to be shown as gay.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Have a nice day
