Training

---

It has been a few days since the brothers boarded the Helicarrier and they have had no luck in finding The Tesseract or Loki, the Asgardian who had stolen it.

As Will had asked, Fury had called up the labs and had told them to set up the spectrometers to search for Gamma rays. Now all they needed to do was wait and hope for the best.

Everyone on the base was busy and tense, trying to do their jobs but with no luck. While the spectrometers were doing their job, Will felt a bit useless. The only reason he was brought in was to do science work, but the spectrometers were doing that for him, he wasn't able to do anything else. Even Bruce could be helpful, if this place ever got attacked, he could go green and help. However, Will would be in the corner hiding away from the fighting. Yeah, really helpful.

So, he made up his mind.

As he was about to walk out of the lab, Bruce shouted after him, "Will! Where are you going?"

Turning towards his brother, he said, "I'm going to have a walk around, you know, stretch my legs. It would also help if I knew this place better, we might be here for a while."

Bruce seemed to understand, so he nodded, "Okay, just be careful. Please."

Will just sent him a small smile then left.

Technically, he wasn't lying to Bruce, he was going to walk around the Helicarrier, but he had a destination. If he could find it. He had made the decision to find a shooting range (it's a S.H.I.E.L.D. base, of course they have shooting ranges there.), so when the time came he would be prepared and finally be helpful in a battle.

When he exited the lab, he looked down the three hallways, left, right and front. Will sighed, he knew this would take a while.

---

It took him over an hour to find a shooting range. There were so many corridors.

He quickly took a look around and saw no one there, he then opened the door to see if there was anyone, there wasn't.

When he slipped inside the room, closing the door quietly behind him, he looked around. There were targets at the back, to the left were eye and ear protectors, and to the right there were the guns. Will let out a shaky sigh, he was very nervous about this.

He needed to do this. Will walked over to the eye and ear protectors and put them on gently, he then walked over to the gun rack. There were so many, he didn't know which one to pick. The doctor looked at them all and picked up the one that seemed easy to use. He started to test the weight of it, not bad.

Walking over to the targets, he raised the gun and looked down the small scoop towards the cardboard men at the end of the room. He tightened the grip on the gun, and squeezed the trigger, his arm being pushed back by the force. The bullet embedded in the cardboard, but it didn't hit the man on it. Will smiled, at least he hit something.

The younger Banner was in there for a few hours, shooting bullets at the target. As time passed the bullets got closer to critical hits but not close enough.

After finishing a round, he made the choice of having a small break. He set the gun down and took of the ear protectors, as soon as he did he heard someone clapping behind him. Quickly turning around, he saw Natasha Romanoff standing there was a small smile on her face, "Impressive, doctor. Especially since it's your first time."

Will blushed and looked down at the floor, "I-I'm sorry. I just-I wanted to learn, I wanted to be helpful, but I don't know how to fight so I thought it would be best to come here and train. Please don't tell Fury, he's already scary, I don't want him shouting at me. God, please don't tell Bruce! He will kill me, he didn't want me to do things like this. He said it's too dangerous and I-"

He was cut off by Natasha rising her hand and laughing, "Doctor, you're rambling."

Banner blushed even more, "Sorry."

"It's fine, Doctor, but-" This time, however, she was cut off by Will.

"Will. My-my name is Will. I don't like it when people call me Doctor, makes me feel old."

The assassin nodded in understanding, "Okay then, Will. I was just going to say, that if you wanted to learn how to use a gun, you could have asked."

Will looked up from the floor, fixed his eyes upon Natasha's shoulder, and frowned, "You...you would help me?"

"Of course, you need the help. Another reason is that I have nothing else to do other than wait for Loki to show up, which might take a while." She said, walking over to Will, "I noticed that your shoulders tense up when you shoot, try to relax them." She then put her hands and Will's shoulders, making him tense them up but then slowly relax. "I also noticed that your legs are too close together, spread them." She added while kicking the doctor's legs apart. "Okay. Now see if that helps with the recoil." She then stepped away.

Will nodded, looking towards the targets and shot at them. This time all the bullets hit the man on the target, all in different place on the body but still on the body.

Romanoff nodded in approval, "Well done, Will, you're improving."

"Thank you, Ms. Romanoff. For helping me."

"Please, call me Natasha. If you would let me, tomorrow I could try and teach you more?"

"I would like that, Ms....Natasha." Will smiled, meeting her eyes for a second to show his gratitude before looking at the gun on the counter.

The eye contacted surprised Natasha. In the short amount of time they have known each other, Natasha hasn't seen him make eye contact with anyone, not even his own brother. Learning how to shoot must mean a lot to him.

"We should meet here at 0900 hours, we will have longer time that way."

Will quickly nodded, "Okay. Thank you, Natasha. All I want to do is help."

Romanoff smiled at the young Banner, he was a very warm and kind-hearted man, but is very awkward. He was the opposite of her.

Will noticed the clock on the wall, "I should probably go back to the lab. I told Bruce I would be back soon and it's been four hours." He said, putting the equipment away, and walking towards the door.

Before he left, he yelled a quick 'Thank you again!' and flashed a small smile at her then he was gone.
