CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

THE GAME HAS STARTED.  Our target, is set without any idea what wrath awaited her. And despite, how I truly, absolutely abhor this whole theatric, I could not help but relish in sheer, wicked delight, knowing how her time of tribulation has just begun. Alert, and fully aware we continue to walk in a slow pace, awfully excitedly to enjoy and play, and relive through old times. My husband, smiles gleefully humming a cheerful tone as, I chuckled rejoicing at the idea of knowing how absolutely, bewildered his secretary would be at this moment, right here.

It must be torturous. To watch us play the role of perfect husband and wife, who didn't give have a care in the world, to act coy.  Fooling others into believing our perfect chemistry, the unspeakable truth.

Jungkook, and I were different. It's just the way we are. Two different, individuals and who have nothing in common except, this absurd chemistry. It wasn't suppose to be this crazy, but the reality was bitter we are married, even though we have nothing we can relate to, most of the times; yet still him and I, don't find it in ourselves to pull away, to give up. Few days ago, I was desperate for a divorce, I wanted nothing more to do with this man, and here I am today playing this stupid game.

“So, what should I do?” Jungkook asked, in a quiet tone, walking elegantly beside me as I paused strained, my eyes flare up at his handsome face, as my orbs sunk in the look of excitement, recessing  his usually stoic features. Making me rethink my decision, maybe I should have never agreed to this——I don't know but after witnessing this childish gleam in his chocolate brown eyes, I can't help but fear; what if something goes wrong?

Drawing in a long breath I murmured softly,“For now be nice to her. And make her believe you're interested. ”

“Ivy—” he started to speak as we were about to get into the elevator with Mr Lee following closely behind us. His fingers curl against my elbow in a desperate hold, as he pulls me back almost too aggressively, as I sighed turning around to face him, after being left alone with him again.

What does he keeps doing this? We were literally checking out locations to build a school, and this was a big project for me, as well for him. But, seeing his lack of interest, and difficulty to grasp the direness of the situation,  leaves me no choice, but to be left with the conclusion that he was scheming something. Something wicked, which was probably the only reason he seized this deal with Mr Lee.

“You’re not looking at me,” he expressed gently grazing my face, as I whimper surprised, at the sudden touch. The gentleness, and tenderness it held, leaves me breathless as I raise my chin, meeting his observant gaze.

“I am looking at you. Now” I spoke, sharply, feeling agitated when he continues to hold my face, slowly, painstakingly drawing me closer to himself,“I want you to get closer to Kim Anna, for which you need to stay away from me for the entirety of the day, Jungkook.”

“I know we're playing this game just for fun, but I really want you to know that, I'm yours and no one can take me away from you, love.”

He's good. The way he handles things, me, us always ceases to amaze me. My husband was a man of many talents, and one of them was reassuring me, making me forget my insecurities.

“I trust you dear husband, now maintain your distance we have important business to attend—” moving his hands abruptly from my face, as I take a step forward pressing the elevator button, and he smiles sinisterly when, I sneakily brush my breast against his hard chest, while my nails daringly dug into his scalp, the back of his neck. He groans blowing hot breath across my face, as I press my thighs against his bulge, and at last whisper,“I promise to play the role of the perfect jealous wife.”

“I can never have enough of you,” He breathed out, placing his nose near my nape, as I sighed scarcely glancing at his face before he moves away, silently walking to stand at front.

This was going to be a really long day.

After almost an hour later, I stay seated, in a room full of people, watching far away, as the clouds move across the sky calmly, moving freely creating a unique pattern, a hidden message. Everything, seems to disappear when, I'm looking at the sky, it's like I feel alone, more alone than I've ever been, yet ——strangely I also feel at home. That, was the magic, the sky held.

Swirling in my seat, I grinned listening to the voices, the soft and quiet tones fading into the background. Invading my peaceful thoughts.

“Secretary Kim, I have to attend a gala tomorrow why don't you accompany me?” Mr Lee asked suddenly making all of us turn around to look at him, surely everyone would be surprised, after all Kim Anna was a quite, a peculiar choice for a date.

“I am sorry but I am already attending the gala, with Mr Jeon,” she murmured, hastily lowering her pen before retiring back to writing what she was as, I  smirked turning to face my husband only to find him looking at me with a troubled expression, one that was full of desperation, anger.

What's wrong with him? I thought I told him to be nice to Kim Anna for the rest of the day, but it seems like he was finding it hard to handle her any longer.

Well, may be I need to start pulling her strings now.

Taking a long a breath, I commented in a sharp tone, trying to appear as aggressive as possible,“Why would you attend the event with Mr Jeon, I'm sure he has a wife to take already?”

Mr Lee, laughed darkly from across the table, as Hara flinched, upon listening to the tone of my voice.  But it did not matter, what she thinks, or what Mr Lee sees, what matters was my husband.

Even though, Jungkook fully knew that I was just playing along our secret game, still the amused look across his face, intrigued me as, he clenched jaw turning to face away, afraid to ruin anything. My eyes, flicked dancing in delight when I catch Kim Anna fumbling nervously, struggling to conceal the embarrassed look that overtook her usually, sweet and calm face.

What a sight—I thought shaking my head but was shaken to find Mr Lee watching me, with a quiet, cold gaze penetrating deep within my soul as I gulped, fearing the worse. It made me wonder if he could see through our play, our lie. Impossible.

But even if he could, I am sure to believe that he won't say anything, and ruin it.

Drawing in a strained breath, I timidly glanced back at my husband for a spare second before taking a step back,  I turn around facing the exit. Just when I saw Kim Anna leaving for the restroom, my stomach turned, and twisted uncomfortably, as I got up from my seat, ready to work towards my next move.

The sounds of heels clicking against the cold marble floor, echoed across the long, stairway as I tried to be as discreet as possible. By now my heart was beating almost too violently within my chest, as I walked to stand behind a wall when the woman in front of me stopped, turning around, her eyes wonder carelessly for a good second before she shakes her head nonchalantly, and gets into the rest room.

After some times. I decided it was now time to make my presence known.

“Kim Anna,” I pronounced her name, in a deadly tone of voice, as I entered the bathroom, striding to stand in front of her, her eyes widen and her breath shudders, making her drop the make up compact down.  I laughed, glancing sideways at her recklessness, my eyes flicker, mischievous as I saugnter elegantly to stand too close to her, placing my face near hers, I drop my gaze at her pretty face.

Raising, my hand I grasp her shoulder in a menacing grip, as my lips tug upwards into a sadistic smile. Kim Anna, stiffens and gulps nervously immediately lowering her eyes with guilt, when I brought my other hand to her face.

“I’ve been watching you all day, Anna and I think you're an incredible secretary,” I begin to speak, brushing her shoulders as if I was dusting dust, her eyes blink back, probably not understanding, a word I said, so I bend down a little so that our face were in the same level,“Don’t pretend. Not, in front of me. I know all about your game, but feel free to try. Take your time, enjoy while I am giving you the chance, but remember if you do something that may jeopardize my husband's career, I won't hesitate to write your ending.”

“Ms Ivy?” she staggers, breathlessly as I turn the tap water on, after disgustingly staring at my hand for a second. I take my time, not bothering to even glance at the miserable woman as I washed my hands, before rubbing it clean with a towel. Minutes, passed yet she stayed there quivering with a shaken gasp as I abruptly raise my head, holding her gaze.

My eyes continue to drink the scared look across her pretty face, with tremendous delight. Her brown eyes, blinked back fearfully, glowing under dim lighting but widen fully in bewilderment when I throw the towel up at her walking past her,  as she struggles to hold it up.

“Why are you doing this?” She yelped, throwing the towel frustratedly on the floor making me chuckle.  God— this was getting better. I'm really having fun.,“Mr Jeon, is just my boss.”

“What a naive little thing, you are. Do you truly believe I don't see you, the way you are always trying, to get his attention?”

I purposely said the words, that I knew would trigger her.

“I don't find any reason behind your remark, Ms. Ivy. As far as I'm concerned, he seems okay with my behaviour, unlike you I actually do take care of him.”

She responded, back with malice, blazing bright within her gaze.

Her lie sounded almost too believable, the facade of honesty, and innocence waged war against her perfect deceit, curtained by her cold, yet fearful eyes, she grunted sharply taking a daring step towards me. ——I stand, tall unfazed, assessing her pale face with a dull stare, letting the silence linger between us, as a firm warning, Silence, that promised nothing but, chaos , as it rules over us, taking over our senses completely, imprisoning us, to think about anything, but the inevitable.

“Remember, Kim Anna or any other. Jungkook, will always choose me. For the time being, continue to drown in your pathetic delusion.”
