CHAPTER FOURTEEN

WHEN THE NIGHT FELL across the sky and the moon submerged ghostly far beyond above, leaving now abundance of unquiet darkness to make the lost souls wander freely, with no place to go. So, they wonder now if they will ever find their way home? Perhaps, if they just close their eyes and picture their home, then maybe—they can find it, but home isn't a place, it's a person, it's a reassurance of knowing that you belong somewhere. Home is a thought, close to reality, some take joy into building it, while others just know how to ruin it.

"Perhaps—if you're feeling unwell, may be we should not go, Ivy?" Jungkook murmured, standing not far behind me. He have styled his hair very neatly, and was now dressed in one of his designer suites. A sigh escaped my lips, as I turn to stare through the mirror at the man, I was married to.

"No—if we do not, your aunt and, others would find another reason, to call me a disgraceful wife. They invited us for the wedding, so we have no choice but to go," I spoke, trying to sound more convincing.

The whole morning I was miserably attached to the commode. And, when I finally gained some health after my husband's tasteless porridge, and overattentive care. That, was at times too much nerve-wrecking, did I decided that I can't stay like that anymore.

Even, if I felt like, I was dying. We still had many reasons to feel uncomfortable in each other's presence. I know that he thinks that by doing this, he could make me forget whatever happened between us and put aside all our differences; which was delusional to think so.

The more, the time went by, I began to understand, why was I feeling uncomfortable, not because it was him, and how distant we were. I was uncomfortable because, this was the first time he ever took care of me. Like I was his favorite broken doll, one that he was trying to fix, but couldn't.

And when my head was pounding with the thought of that—I started to realize I needed to get away from him, just for sometime. I needed an escape, and my prayers were answered when his mother called, and reminded us that, his cousin was to be married today, and we were to attend the event together.

Pursuing my lips, I stared at my image in the mirror. I have tied my hair into a perfect bun, with few loose strands to fall against my eyes, and my neck. The dress I was clad in, wasn't very magnificent, it was just a dress I bought for a charity event last year, that I didn't attend because of my father's death. It was mahogany in color with long sleeves, and a low cut v-neck along with a exposed back.

I was always liked wearing deep cuts, before I was married to him. But with time my choice of clothes, and dressing changed when I realized that his family didn't quite like my dressing sense. I stopped wearing clothes, or v-necks altogether. It felt good for sometime thinking that, I was doing this, for the sake of our relationship but, then reality dawned upon me, that the man I was married to; have not made a single sacrifice for very the sake of our relationship that I was dying holding together.

"Why don't you wear this?" I've not even realized that he was still standing near me, only when he spoke I was snapped out of my thoughts and made to look him. He was holding out a jewelry box to me, his brown eyes anxiously staring, awaiting for me to take it from his hand. I gulped, and I turned fully to face him, leaning back against the dresser. I frowned staring at the box he was holding, trying hard to recall where I've seen it.

"What's this?" I knew my question surprised him, but he hid it well, with the cold and composed look he has supposedly put on.

"I gifted this to you last summer. It's a pendant," he whispers, cold and menacingly and, I shiver with the way, his eyes were drilling into mine.

"Oh, then I should wear it."

I said somehow softly, as my hand reached for the box in his. His eyes darkened with a frightening delight when I stepped closer, leaning forward I was so focused into what I was doing, that I didn't actually realise, what I was doing, I was practically leaning against him. The upper-half of my body was oddly pressed against his hard clothed chest, and I could feel the heat of his skin through the clothes he wore.

My breath shuddered, and I nervously pulled back, standing firm with my back pressing against the dresser.

When I look up I notice, his lips tug into a sadistic smirk as his voice seeps out like a cool velvet,"Let me."

My mind goes blank like a clear sheet of paper. I have no idea what to say to him. I am baffled. So, I take a deep breath and turned facing my back to him. For a second he didn't move, he just stood there staring at me. Not me completely, just the part of my bare back that was exposed to him, his eyes they burned into my flesh making me quiver with unease. From the way his eyes devoured my body in this dress, I eliminated. Only this man could regard me with such amenity in his gaze. Glancing at the mirror before me, I resisted the urge to turn around, and shake him.

How long will he going to stare?

"Perhaps, it would be better if you put it on me," I breathed out, and as if my words were the only command he needed, he stepped forward, abruptly closer until all I could feel was him on me. Hard and warm.

His scent engulfed me. My skin tingling from his nearness. It was driving me crazy, it was the scent of him. That must be it. I've not been this close to him for a very long time, not close enough to smell him, his uniquely essence. He smelled like soap, warm summer and something else—I couldn't pin point. Something that was simply Jungkook.

There was a quickening within my body, a strange tension coiling and, stretching, and I wasn't sure what I was meant to do, so I stood there, letting him put that pendant around my neck.

"Lovely," He murmured, raining a delicate, and seductive kiss at crook of my neck, and I shivered when he pulled back and our eyes met.

And there it was again, the strange feeling in the pit of my stomach, like I've just suffered a great fall. I was far beyond understanding what it was, but it seems to me, that it was the only thing, I felt whenever he was near.
