THE DARK HAIRED WOMAN TIREDLY AVERTED wandering eyes to the window with a small sigh escaping her parted lips, she slouched into the leather backseat in an attempt to get more comfortable. With her side leaning against the inside of the car door, Maggie let her forhead rest on the cold glass, green eyes transfixed on the scenery passing by.

She blinked once, her tired eyes now soley focused on her own reflection that almost comically looked back at her. With her hair an absolute mess from running and purple blemishes under eyes. But despite her fatigue look, she felt the complete opposite, she had never felt more ecstatic than she did at that moment, the mere idea of meeting more people like herself and a chance to be finally accepted for who she truely was filled her with new found energy and hope.

Slowly she turned her gaze back to the outside world soaking in the golden sunrays that spread over the hills that almost lulled her to sleep again. It was afterall quite the long ride towards the CIA facility.

The woman was glad both Erik and Charles restrained themeselves from endulging in any small talk during the ride to ask her all kinds of question about her abilities but the brunette was sure that if Charles really wished to know her deepest and darkest wishes and desires he could simple do so.

Maggie had still been on guard the entire time she had spent with Charles. Not knowing if she could trust the man to give her any privacy.

But luckily she felt at ease now with these thought running aimlessly around her head as the man had fallen asleep with his head rested against the window.

The only acknowledgements she had during the ride was that of Erik looking at her through the rearview mirror from time to time, his stormy eyes calculated as he observed her every move, like he was testing her in some way. Everytime she caught him looking she did not break contact and instead defiantly stared back at him with the same amount of ferocity.

"You're strong." The statement broke through the looming silence abruptly causing the brunette to look up.

Erik was staring straight ahead unpashed and his face void of any emotion and for a moment Maggie wondered if he had spoken at all.

"That's a good asset." This time he captured her gaze in the rearview mirror, his eyes showing a sea of emotion that swirled inside of him, like he was lost in another world for a moment.

"Sometimes you have to be." Maggie lifted her eyes up to meet his, her voice low and unwavering. She felt like she had to show this man she was not someone to be messed with.

"And why's that?" Erik for the first time turned his head around to face her and it felt like this answer, her response was a make it or break it to gain his respect.

"Because the world is full of hate." Her reponse was curt laced with a bitter undertone as she turned her head to the side and clenched her jaw tightly. "Because I'm not about to be beat down by anyone."

There were no more words spoken after that and the silence returend again, only the loud roaring sound of the engine filled her ears.

But she had seen the look in his eyes when she gave him her answer.

They came to a silent understanding that moment

WHEN THEY FINALLY ARRIVED AT THE LARGE facility, Maggie had gotten swiftly out of the car, ready to stretch her legs after being trapped in a sitting potions for so long.

Maggie felt a wave of nerves crashing over as she took a deep breath readying herself to face the others before she straightened her shoulder and raised her head high. She was not one to be messed with she reminded herself.

She had always dreamed about this moment as a young child, to find others like her and now that is was finally happening she wasn't sure how to feel at all. Especially knowing that the goverment was involved in everything.

"Erik will lead you to where you are staying for the time being, we still have more people to recruit so I'll be going back to cerebro." Charles told them, already turnimg towards another direction leaving no room to argue.

Maggie crossed her arms over her chest defiantly looking up at Erik with an expecting gaze, waiting for the man to lead the way. The two stared at each other for a moment before Erik sighed and motioned for her to follow him.

The stark white hallways felt way too lean, too fake for the brunette as she and Erik walked side by side through the facility. "So how many mutants did you find already?" Maggie asked, turning to look at the man.

"You were the first we found with cerebro." Erik answered monotonely staring straight ahead.

She nodded slowly, glancing at the CIA agents that passed them with a suspicious glare, knowing that even if they tried to hide it, they just saw them as some sort of walking freakshow.

She felt utterly exposed walking through these CIA hallways as multiple agents stared at them. She had hoped that this place would be different but it never was.

"They will always fear us you know." Maggie spoke up softly when they reached an empty corridor. "I mean they don't understand us, they never truely will. How long will it be before these people start to see us as the bad guys too?" She wondered out loud, knowing for sure that, that was one of the reasons Erik looked completely irked at the moment.

"We are the superior race and that scares them." Erik spoke up before they stopped in front of a metal door.

Maggie nodded before she went to open the door to her room she turned around and gave Erik a soft smile. "Maybe we are."

MAGGIE SOON LEARNED THE NEXT MORNING FROM a woman named Moira that Erik and Charles left the building again to find new requits for the Mutant divison and the brunette was left to wander the hallways, unsure of what to do.

After some time just aimlessly walking around, Maggie found what she thought was some sort of lounge area with two couches and a small coffee table in the middle. So with nothing better to do she slouched down on the couch with her legs crossed and fingers intertwined over her knees. She leaned forward slightly her hair falling around her face like an elegant curtain you would see in magnificent theatres and grabbed one of the books carelessly thrown upon the wooden surface of the table. Her hand hovered over the slightly worn-out book as her eyes landed on the azure blue vase holding several colorfol flowers.

She bit her lip unsure as she slowly lifted her hand upwards and towards the vase at the end of the coffee table. With a shaky breath, Maggie focused all of her attention on the water inside it. She closed her eyes in concentrating, trying to feel the water and opened her eyes again only to see that nothing had happened at all to her dismal.

Maggie shook her head ready to just give up and grab the book sprawled on the table but when she turned her body slightly to grab it, her eyes landed on another vase, but to her surprise the water source was gracefully hovering around the honey colored vase.

A gleefull chuckle left her lips as she turned her hand towards the liquid and moved her fingers around while the water followed her movements. Slowly the water reached her hand and it danced around her fingers.

"That looks so cool!" A voice exclaimed from behind Maggie and the brunette dropped the water on her lap, her blouise now drenched in water.

"I'm so sorry!"

Maggie turned around in her seat to look at the girl who had startled her and she was faced with a pretty blonde girl who wore a bright but shy smile. The brunette noticed how she put a stray strand of honey blonde hair behind her ear in a nervous manner and ducked her head in embarresment when she saw the stain on her white blouise.

"I'm really sorry about that." She apologised again.

The brunette shook her head with a small chuckle brushing the non existend dust of her faded grey jeans and stood up to approach the girl. "It doesn't realy matter, it will dry up eventually. I'm Maggie by the way, Maggie Hendrix." She held her hand out for the blonde to shake.

The honey blonde glady took her hand, almost excited about the prospect of making a new friend.

Of course Maggie didn't know that Raven never really had any friends except Charles and people who wanted to be her friend actually wanted to get closer to Charles. So the young mutant felt elated. "I'm Raven."

"Well Raven it is nice to meet you." Maggie smiled widely at the younger girl. "I love your hair it suits you."

Raven smile faltered slightly that it was barely noticable but Maggie caught it nontheless and frowned. "Wait did I say something wrong?"

Raven sighed a bit uncertain to tell what was bothering her.

"Hey you can trust me. My whole life I was scared to say what thought but recently I realised I shouldn't hide from who I am." Maggie told her fiercely placing an encouraging hand on the blonde's shoulder.

Slowly Raven nodded and took a step back and Maggie watched in amazement as Raven's ivory skin turned into a deep blue color, her eyes becoming a sparkling yellow with beautiful red hair cascading down her head.

Raven sighed, placing her arms around her body to comfort herself. It was clear for Maggie to see that Raven felt very self-conscious about her natural form.

"Not as beautiful as before right." Raven spoke sadly her eyes focused on the floor.

"No." Maggie said softly making Raven look up, hurt flashing across her eyes. "Now you're tuely magnificent."

It warmed her heart to see Raven's blue feaures light up with joy as she threw her arms around the brunette. "Thank you"
