~10. Where Beauty Comes From.

The only way
We can see people.

The real them;
Is when we spy on them.

When they have
No idea that we're looking.

Trekking back to the hostel, I opened the door and threw my bag on my bed. I went to use the washroom and back before I stood there, shocked as I looked out.

I had forgotten to close the room door very well, so seeing three people staring at me was very weird. I quickly rushed to close the door and got my things out to take a quick shower.

I wanted to take this opportunity to explore the school more before the extra curriculum was over. I brought out sweatpants with a t-shirt from my luggage. Zipping it, I went back into the washroom to take a shower.

Done with the shower, I dressed up and left the room with a small bag, just in case I needed anything.

Seeing the hallway cleared, I walked back to school. Everyone was probably in an activity, some sitting down to watch others, while some participated.

Honestly, the extracurricular activities were great, but I didn't have the full energy to participate in the sports, neither the ones that wanted us to move our arms or to think.

Activities like debate, the students' newspaper, culture, karate, and other ones, which I didn't care about reading about, just changed my mood and kept me wondering how people enjoyed these activities.

Letting that slide, I was on the verge of looking for the ICT room. I wanted to use the school's computer to find what I'd been looking for in the school. Those documents were necessary. If I didn't find them by the end of next term, I was going to put myself into trouble.

I'm pretty much frustrated at the moment, but now, business came first before high school at the moment. Yes, it was a stupid decision, but what could I do?

A week before I had left Italy to stay in this city, a company called me. I was surprised by the call because I hardly gave my number out, and I had left the company I was working in, and in the contract we had signed, my name or any information about me was not to be leaked.

As foolish as I was, I thought a contract could do everything. I thought it would stop them from leaking my number to another company. Wait, no. They didn't leak it, but according to one of the men that worked with me, he said that a guy called Jacob worked with another company and ended up spilling some of our essential information to the company he officially worked for.

That was not where the problem was from, that was just a bite of the cake. Before they had hired the guy, they usually made me go through people and their backgrounds to make sure that the company was safe. I did all that, I went through all Jacob's documents; both the ones he showed and the ones he had not presented to the company.

When I had spent like a whole week working on finding out who this guy was, I went to present all the documents to the boss. He told me that I shouldn't worry that the guy was a trusted guy. He said nothing was going to happen to the company that everything was safe.

The usual me would always be calm with things. I still insisted on the boss to check the papers because I had found some hidden pieces of information about the guy that he never told any of us, which I believed he was supposed to.

The boss, Carlos, told me to drop the documents on his table that he was going to check it out later. Only if I knew that that lazy ass boss wouldn't have, I'd have gone to the manager myself to present those documents.

So when I received a call from the company, I was kind of shocked and felt depressed because the damn company had threatened me to do what they wanted me to do or else, shit was going to be played the hard way.

They needed me to come to Carton High School to get some information about the school. The school was training and building up hackers. I know, I couldn't believe them too when I first stepped in here for the first time, but the way everyone had their eyes on me, I felt that something was wrong.

I didn't have a problem with coming here because well, this had been my dream school.

Hearing the SpongeBob song, I brought out my phone to answer the call. Not forgetting to read the caller ID first. "Hello, mum."

"Hello, are you at school at the moment?" She asked in a low voice. She was probably at work at the moment.

"Um, yeah. We have extracurricular, so I'm about to join one of the activities. Can we talk later? I need to go now."

"Yeah, sure, I'll call you either tonight or tomorrow."

"Okay, ma. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung the call and tucked my phone back into my pocket, and opened the ICT room door. Entering it, I smiled at the ICT teacher before settling down in one of the seats with a computer in front of me.

I had to choose one of the corners that made me able to see everyone that walked in or towards me. "Adelia."

I looked up to see the ICT teacher, "what do you want to do here?"

"Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot to tell you. I just want to finish the work you assigned us the other day." I smiled as I placed my hands on the mouse. "I was a little bit confused with the work, so I want to check it out and correct everything I did wrong."

He nodded. "Okay, then. Quicken up with what you want to do because, in an hour, this room would be used for something else."

"Mm, I will, don't worry."

Watching Mr. Hardison walk back to where he was sitting at first, I lowered my head to look above me, and there it was. A camera. I bit my bottom lips and looked back at Mr. Hardison, who also had his eyes on me.

Chuckling, I opened the work we did a few days ago. I was already done with mine, so I just had to redo some of them to allow time to pass. When thirty minutes had gone, I pretended as if I was still doing my work, but instead, I was trying to scan the room to check for the areas the cameras were present.

Seeing that it was everywhere apart from where Mr. Hardison's chair was, I groaned and got up from my seat to leave the room.

"Are you done?" He asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I am, and thank you." I picked up one of the pencils on his desk and put it behind one of my ears.

"You're welcome." I strolled towards the door, but before I left, I saw someone at the back of the room. Anxiety filling me up, I glanced at Mr. Hardison, then walked up to the person.

"Hey," I said in a calm tone.

"Um, hi? Do I know you?" Seeing the black pimples I had seen the other day by his nose, I chuckled.

"Yeah, you're the one I bumped into the other day."

"Oh yeah, the clumsy one." He blurted out.

"Clumsy as we speak. I thought you were the 'addicted to your phone' type that day."

With the way he acted, I knew he was hiding something. "I was just reading a text message from my brother that day."

"Oh, you have a brother." I acted innocent.

"Yeah. We're triplets."

"You're Ezekiel's brother, right?" He nodded. "Mm, you two look alike, so what's your name and then, do you mind giving me a sheet of paper, I want to write something down."

"Yeah, sure." As he stretched out towards his bag, I used the chance to see what he was doing on the computer.

Well, behold were the truth laid; he was using a command prompt for something. He was controlling someone's computer without them knowing.

When he tore the paper out of his book, he handed it to me and pressed exit on the computer. "Thanks. Your name?"

"Ethan and you?"

"Adelia."

"Yes, yes. The new student everyone talks about." He got up from the chair to pack his things into his bag.

"Um, I don't get you."

He turned around to look at me. "You're Adelia, right? The writer with the surname Greene?"

"Yeah. Any problem?"

"No, not at all, but just be careful, and I'm serious. Not everyone you see as friends is your true friends, my love." Mm, sneaky with his words just like Ezekiel. "I have to go. I'll see you another day."

"Yeah, sure, but wait." He turned to look at me. "I'm kind of new to the school, do you mind showing me around?"

"Yeah, sure. No one has volunteered to?"

"They have, just that the time they had was short, so it was only little they managed to show me." When I was done with this, I needed actually to go on my knees and ask God for forgiveness.

How many times was I going to lie? I had never lied this much to people. I just wanted to find out what he meant when he said that I should be careful, and here I was, thinking that lying was going to solve everything.

We stepped out of the ICT room as he told Mr. Hardison that he was leaving. "So, where do you want to start?"

"I don't know. Anywhere would be fine."

"Okay then, I'll start with where beauty comes from." I arched my brow and glanced at him. He laughed before uttering, "don't worry, when we get there, you'll understand."

"Mm, okay."

"May I?" He stretched his hands out for me to hold it. He wanted us to hold hands? I sighed and shook my head.

"I don't hold hands," I spoke, smirking.

"You're as stubborn as my brother said you were." That just struck me. Did they talk about me?

"Um, which of them?"

"The one that specialised in football, Elijah." We started walking to wherever he was taking me to. Ezekiel, Ethan, and Elijah. Not bad for triplets.

"So how does Elijah know me? We've never spoken before."

"We asked him the same thing." We? "He said he could guess with the way you acted."

"Um, who are we?"

"Ezekiel and I."

"Oh, yeah. I wasn't expecting someone with glasses to be playing football, forgive me."

"No offense taken. You're not the only one, though. Our parents couldn't understand it, but with time, they started to suspect that he wore the glasses for fancy and not for the sake of an eye problem."

"Mm, I see." I liked the vibe we were having at the moment. He wasn't as bad as his brother. He was more friendly, but I think I'll take his words for what it said.

On a serious note, though, who was he referring to? I didn't have any close friend in the school. It was only Vanessa, Megan, Brianna, and the people I sat with at lunchtime, but was mostly Vanessa.

I doubt she would ever be the one to be fake or even pretend. Even if she were, I'd have seen it coming and changed my perspective a long time ago. Well, I couldn't tell you for now. I hadn't read about her profile yet.

I'm not evil or anything, but the day I stole the pen drive from Jennifer, I only took it to get the names of all my classmates. Then, later on, read more about them and know what to do and how to act around them so that I'd be careful at least. I hadn't gotten to any of my friends' profiles, so I couldn't judge at the moment.

When we finally reached the place he had wanted me to see, he opened the door for me to walk in first.

I could recognise the place. It was the same place I had followed Ezekiel into the other time. Although this time, the lights were dim, so the paintings weren't seen clearly like before.

Question: Netflix or Wattpad?

I'm diving in for Netflix because Wattpad can get tiring sometimes.

VCS!!
