Chapter 11
Nova
I arrived early to the studio. 5, 3, and 6 were buzzing to life. It's 6:30 AM. It's a nice to walk-in, and there's live action going on. "Grand Rising," I said, walking past reception. I entered the lounge to enjoy a cup of ashwagandha tea. When Krossroads walked in, I said, "Still at it, I see."
"You know it, Nova," he said, his voice gruff from a long night in the booth. He grabbed a water bottle from the cooler and joined me at my table. He leaned back in the chair, his eyes closing briefly. "You know, nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream," he murmured, his voice a deep, rhythmic bass line.
I nodded eagerly, sipping my tea. "I get it," I said, feeling a rush of understanding. His words resonated with me, echoing my thoughts about the industry and our place in it.
"Good." he said, opening his eyes to meet mine. "And I've got a head full of words... poetry, just waiting to be set free." He leaned forward, his gaze intense. "You're beautiful this morning Nova baby" he said gently. "Thank you." "I got some much needed rest." I replied. He nodded, His eyes never left mine. "I can tell...lucky ass bed." He said smirking. I turned my head trying to hide my smile.
"You're like a beacon in this concrete jungle," he said, his eyes never leaving mine. "You shine so bright; it's like you're not even from here."
I chuckled, feeling a warmth spread through me. "Sometimes I feel like that," I admitted. "But then I remember why I'm here, and it all makes sense."
He nodded, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, that's what keeps me going too." He took a sip of his water.
"Your name, it's like a secret ingredient, baby," he said, his eyes lighting up with excitement. I don't know if you know, but your name buzzes among your folks here. "You gotta couple haters too, baby." He continued. "I've seen you work your magic. You took something good and made it great before my eyes."
"Let's cook something up, just you and me." I've got a beat begging for some of that ...Nova magic." He said adjusting himself in his seat. "When you go, get some rest and recharge. I got you." He adjusted himself again in the chair and nodded, he opened his mouth to speak, but thought better of it, and remained silent, but wet his lips instead.
Krossroads, with his captivating brown sugar skin and piercing gaze, was indeed a sight to behold. His four thick ponytails, the ends unraveled in a wild cascade, framing his sharp features and those full, wet lips that held the promise of sweet nothings whispered in the right ear. His smile could indeed pluck stars from the sky, a dazzling display of charm and charisma that could disarm even the most jaded of hearts.
"Let's do it," he said, feeling the anticipation build in me. "But after I get some sleep, right?" he added, standing up and stretching. "I'll be back, Nova baby, fresh...and ready for you." I shook my head once, smirked, and nodded. "I'll be in 5." He winked and strolled out of the lounge.
Artis would have a fit if he knew I was in here flirting. I chuckled lightly to myself. But he and I aren't out to the public. One must keep up appearances.
After finishing my tea, I headed to Studio 5. The walls were lined with gold and platinum records, a testament to the legends that had recorded there. The soundproof glass showed me the hallowed space where so much music history had been made.
I slipped into the control room and sat at the soundboard, my fingers itching to create. I turned on some background music, something smooth and jazzy to keep my thoughts focused. As the notes danced in my ears, I closed my eyes and let the melody wash over me.
The door opened, and Artis's cologne filled the room. "Ready to show me what you got?" he asked, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine. I turned to face him, my heart racing. "Always," I replied, my voice steady despite the tumultuous emotions inside.
He leaned over me, his warmth radiating through my shirt. His fingers brushed against mine as he reached for the headphones. Our eyes met.
"I missed you," he murmured, his breath ghosting over my cheek. "And I hate your apartment," he said with a grin tugging at his lips.
I couldn't help but laugh, the tension of the moment breaking. "Why?" I asked, playing along.
"Because you live there," he said, his smile growing wider, "and not with me."
He leaned in, and his lips met mine in a soft kiss that sent a jolt of electricity through my body. I could feel his desire and longing, which matched my own. We'd been dancing around this for weeks, but now, with the studio to ourselves, the words hung in the air like a promise.
The music played on a haunting melody that seemed to underscore the intensity of our moment. Artis pulled away, his eyes searching mine.
"Nova, I want to suck your pussy so bad, baby," he whispered casually. I instantly had a heartbeat in my pussy. Wet with arousal, my thong is about to be useless. He flickered his eyes at me briefly and kept working. My blood was on fire for this man, and he knew it.
Artis groaned, his eyes hooded. He leaned in, capturing my mouth in a deep, soulful kiss that stole my breath away. Our tongues danced together, a silent conversation of desire and need. His hand found the hem of my shirt, and he began to lift it up, revealing my lacy black bra. "Mm," he murmured against my lips, "this is sexy." He bent down and grazed my nipples with his teeth through the lace fabric. I moaned. He leaned in lower, kissing my stomach.
With a reluctant sigh, he pulled away. He looked down at the bulge in his pants, his hand resting on the zipper. "I want you, Nova," he said, his voice a low growl. "But not like this, not here." He took a step back, his hand moving away from his arousal. "We need to wait," he said, his voice thick with restraint.
My eyes widened as I took in the full extent of his desire. The man was massive, his dick tented his jeans, thick and long, promising a night of unbridled passion. A shiver of excitement ran down my spine. "Artis," I whispered, reaching out to him.
"Don't tempt me," he said, his hand coming up to gently push my hand away. "We can't do this here. Not like this." He took another step back, his eyes never leaving mine. "But I promise you, baby," he said, his voice dropping to a seductive murmur, "Soon, I'm going to make love to you like you've never been loved before."
The promise in his eyes was almost too much to bear. I nodded my own desire, a living, breathing entity between us. "Okay," I whispered, my voice shaky with need.
Feeling a little rejected, I went to the rooftop for some air. The cool breeze brushed against my skin. The city skyline was a canvas of twinkling lights, the buildings standing tall like sentinels guarding our secret. The quiet hum of the city was a soothing lullaby, reminding me that there was a world outside of our bubble, a world that we didn't know about yet.
Moments later, the door to the rooftop swung open, and in walked Krossroads, looking recharged and bright-eyed. He must've sensed my tension because he gave me a knowing smile as he approached.
"Hey, Nova baby," he said, his voice smooth as velvet. "The city's looking pretty tonight, isn't it?"
I turned to face him, trying to control my emotions. "Yeah, it's beautiful. I see you got some rest. You look great," I said, smiling.
Krossroads chuckled, the sound rich and deep. "Thanks," he said, his eyes sweeping over me appreciatively. "You too, baby girl. You always look good, but tonight, you're glowing."
We made small talk for a few minutes. His gaze kept dropping to my chest, and I had to resist the urge to cross my arms. "So," he said, leaning against the railing. "You ready to make some magic?"
I nodded, eager to get to work and distract myself from my hunger for Artis. "Let's go," I said, my voice a little too eager. He opened the door, and placed his warm hand on the small of my back. guiding me through the threshhold. I looked over my shoulder at him, catching him wetting those lips again. Fuck, he's sexy when he does that shit.
We headed back down to Studio 5, the anticipation of creating something special together pulsing through my veins.
The beat was slow, and the sensual bassline made my hips sway as soon as I sat back down at the soundboard. Krossroads leaned over the microphone, his eyes closed, and let the music fill him. He began to sing beautifully, his words a testament to love and loss, a story of a man who's seen it all and still believes in the power of the heart.
I nodded along, my fingers dancing over the soundboard. The bass hit harder, the snare snapped with just the right amount of attitude, and the keys shimmered like stars in a moonless sky. Each note was a brushstroke on the song's canvas, and together, we painted a picture of passion and pain.
As we worked, the studio faded away. It was just us and the music, a symphony of our souls. The chemistry was there, a dance of creativity that had nothing to do with desire or sexual tension—well maybe some sexual tension.
A couple of hours flew by, and before I knew it, the sun was peeking over the horizon, casting a soft glow through the windows. The track was coming together, and a masterpiece was born.
Krossroads opened his eyes, a satisfied smile on his face. "Damn, Nova baby," he said, his voice a warm caress. "You're a fucking genius."
I blushed, the compliment from such an affluential artist sending a thrill through me. "Thanks," I said, feeling a little shy. "Couldn't have done it without you."
He leaned over the console, his hand brushing against mine as he turned down the volume. "You're something special," he murmured, his gaze intense. "I can feel it." his smile was genuine. I think I detected a bit of shyness. It was adorable "Couldn't have done it without your genius, either."
Krossroads took a step back, giving me some space. "I'd love to take you to dinner Nova, say you'll join me." he said, his eyes loc leaving mine. "Say yes." he said gently.
My heart skipped a beat, the suddenness of the invitation catching me off guard. Just as I was about to respond, Artis came through the door like a sexy storm cloud.. "shit," I said under my breath. "What did yah come up with?" he said. He paused, reading the energy. His eyes darted to Krossroads then to me. "A masterpiece Art." Krossroads quipped. "Nova baby, here is a pure genius." "I'm so grateful; I'd like to show her my appreciation, but taking her out to dinner." He said smirking.
"I'm just saying," Krossroads continued, a knowing smile playing on his lips as he met my gaze, "a beautiful evening, good food, and even better company. How bout it, Super Nova?"
Artis's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze flickering between us. I could almost hear the gears turning in his head, piecing together the puzzle of our late-night rendezvous. His expression is unreadable.
"Nova's busy," he said, his voice cool and even. "She's got a big day tomorrow."
I nodded, a little disappointed but grateful for the save. "Thanks for the invitation anyway, Krossroads."
He nodded.
We'll get together another time when you're... free." He flicked his eyes to Artis briefly.
