Spring Dance

Ringo Imagine:

"Mate, when're you gonna tell Y/N?"

"Oh, y'know I was thinking... never."

George rolled his eyes as he watched Ringo grab his books and shut his locker. He had been telling Ringo to voice his feelings for you as he had a big crush on you. Since he met you, you were on his mind constantly. But Ringo wasn't listening. He never really thought anything would ever happen with you.

"Rings, the school dance is this weekend," George urged. "This is the perfect opportunity to ask her out! Why won't you do it?"

"Because she likes me as a friend and nothing more, that's why," Ringo said irritably.

"What makes you say that?"

"It's obvious, isn't it? Has she ever really shown any particular interest in me?"

"Come on, Ringo, she hangs out with you more than us. She's always talking about you. Don't you think there's a chance?" George insisted.

"Knowing me and my bad luck, probably not," Ringo smiled sadly. "Let it go, lad. I have class. I'll see you at lunch."

"There's a chance Ringo!" George called as Ringo walked away. "Just you wait!"

Ringo waved and rounded a corner.

It was senior lunch break. You sat outside with your friends, chatting and giggling about the school's Spring Dance. Well, they were anyway.

You weren't very excited about it. Not anymore at least. Since the Spring Dance was announced last month, you were hoping Ringo would ask you out. But the dance was this weekend, and still, nothing happened.

Perhaps Ringo just didn't see you the way you saw him.

A tap on your shoulder pulled you away from your thoughts. Startled, you turned around. John and Paul stood behind you, smiling and waving.

"Hello Y/N," Paul greeted kindly.

"Hi Paul, John," you responded, nodding your head.

"Dear Y/N, would you do us the honour of accompanying us on our trip to that bench over there?" John bowed, extending his hand for you to take.

Paul rolled his eyes at him as you laughed. "I guess so," you said, standing up and waving to your friends. As you followed the boys to the bench, you asked, "Is everything okay? Where're Ringo and George?"

"They're inside," Paul replied. "Funny you should mention Ringo, actually..."

You furrowed your eyebrows as you took a seat on the bench between Paul and John. "What about him?"

"Let's be honest here, Y/N," John grinned. "Ringo. He's a good bloke, isn't he? Rather generous. Talented drummer. Not bad looking. The whole package!"

You blinked in surprise. You couldn't stop the blush creeping up to your cheeks. "Y-yeah, I suppose..."

"And you're rather close to him, aren't you?" John inquired.

"Well... yes."

"You two'd make a good pair, don't you think?"

"Wait... what?"

"You like him, don't you?"

"John!" Paul hissed. "Quit pressuring her, you're scaring the poor girl. Sorry, Y/N, he doesn't think."

"Hey!" John said indignantly. "I do think... sometimes."

Paul sighed and shook his head. Your cheeks were beet red.

"Well," you mumbled. "He's not wrong..."

"Really?" Paul's face stretched into a smile. "Because the dance is this weekend!"

"Yes, but he hasn't asked me," you said glumly.

"Well, what if we told you that he does like you but is too shy to ask you to the dance because he thinks you're not interested?" John wiggled his brows.

"There she is!" George exclaimed.

Ringo's heart was racing a mile a minute. It was the Spring Dance and he was a nervous wreck. John and Paul has basically asked you out for him. He was dressed in the nicest suit he could find in his closet, and now he was staring at you, approaching him, in your beautiful lilac dress, with your hair done up in an elegant bun.

You looked like a dream...

"Hi guys," you greeted once you reached them. When your eyes landed on Ringo, you blushed. "Hi Ringo."

"H-hi," Ringo stuttered.

"Richard, doesn't Y/N look tremendous tonight in her wonderful gown?" John cried.

Ringo cleated his throat, staring at his black shoes. "Y-yeah, she really does..."

You bit your lip and clasped your hands together. "Thank you," you murmured. "You... you look good too."

John, Paul, and George glanced at each other. It was almost painful to watch two people who clearly like each other just shy away from each other. They needed to get you and Ringo to be alone.

Their wishes were granted. The music slowed to a romantic tune, and the lights dimmed to a soft, cobalt blue. The three boys exchanged grins.

"Nice song, eh Rings?" Paul nudged Ringo with his elbow.

"Yeah, nice," Ringo agreed.

"What d'you think, Y/N?" George piped up. "You like this song?"

"Uh... yes," you nodded.

"Ringo," Paul hissed. "For the love of God, man, ask her to dance."

Ringo swallowed nervously and stepped forward to you. He took a deep breath and opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He felt like his heart had jumped to his throat, he was so nervous...

John sighed and stood between you and Ringo.

"Y/N, Ringo wants to dance with you, right here right now," he said. "He'd also like to say you look ravishing in your dress, but then again, you always look amazing. Anyway, how about that dance? What do you say?"

Startled, you stuttered, "Uh... y-yes! I mean, yeah. Yeah, I'd like that."

"Fantastic!" John said brightly, shoving you and Ringo towards the dance floor. "Now go dance your little hearts out and have fun! But not too much fun. You're too young."

Both you and Ringo were blushing messes, but nonetheless, you wrapped your arms around his neck while he placed his around your waist. You both swayed in sync with the slow music.

"Um... y-you do like beautiful tonight, Y/N," Ringo muttered.

"Thanks, so do you," you blushed. "Uh... handsome, I mean. You look handsome."

"So listen," he said, clearing his throat. "John and Paul probably already told you this, but I guess you should hear it from me. I-I really like you... a lot."

"Yeah, they did tell me," you grinned slightly. "Has George told you that I like you?"

"Well, he hinted towards it..."

"I do. I really do."

Ringo was gonna go for it... He leaned forward and kissed you. It was quick and soft, but sweet. You stared, startled.

"Uh... was that okay?" Ringo asked with wide eyes.

You giggled and nodded. "That was very okay."

"About bloody time!" you heard John shout behind you.
