I Believe In You

A sort of sequel to Brave!

Ringo Imagine:

It was hard, being new. Ringo never liked it. He was new all his life. Considering most of his childhood he spent in hospitals, he was the new kid a lot at school. It was always uncomfortable. Nobody knew who he was, nor did they understand him.

He never thought he'd experience being new as an adult. But he did. After John invited him to join the band, he was once again the New Guy. Even so, he assumed it wouldn't be as hard as it used to be. He wasn't a kid anymore. Things would be fine, right?

Wrong.

As it turned out, everybody loved the original drummer of the Beatles, Pete Best. Ringo even heard that there was a fan club dedicated to Pete. That basically meant not many people really liked Ringo.

He figured it would die down soon and people would warm up to him. But still, it stung every time he heard fans chant, "Pete Best forever! Ringo never!"

He just had to power through it.

Yet one particular day, Ringo was packing up his drum set, when a man and his girlfriend went up to him.

"Take a hint, Starr, nobody wants you here!" the man slurred. He was drunk.

His girlfriend laughed shrilly. "You won't last long in the band," she smiled a crude smile. "Pete was a true Beatle. Soon the others'll see that as well. Because of you, George has a black eye!"

Ringo learned to just ignore it. He quietly brushed past the couple and approached you by the door.

"Come on, let's get going," he said, forcing on a grin.

You nodded as the two of you left the Cavern.

"Are you okay?" you asked worriedly.

Ringo nodded. "Yes, I'm alright. Why?"

"Ritchie... I saw what happened. You don't have to hide it."

Ringo sighed and sank into a seat. He ran a hand down his tired face, closing his blue eyes. He hated talking about things like this. It made him feel weak, like he couldn't handle things on his own. He'd been through a lot already, he could handle this just fine.

But before, he had someone to talk to...

And he could tell you anything.

"I don't really know what to do anymore, Y/N," he admitted tiredly. You sat down next to him, watching him in concern. "I mean, I get it. I'm new. No one knows me and no one's used to me. Pete was the original drummer. I'm just a stranger to them. Why should they like me?"

"Ringo..."

"I just wish it'd stop already, that's all. It's draining... I kind of feel like that kid who's last picked in a sports team, you know? No one wants or needs me, so what's the point?"

"What's the point?" you echoed. "Ringo, you are wanted! Don't you know why John asked you to replace Pete? Because you're more talented than him! You're the true drummer! He may have played before you, but you play better. The Beatles chose you."

You took hold of his calloused hand and smiled. It wasn't like that girl's crude smile at the cavern. Your smile was kind and sweet. Completely beautiful.

"Those people don't know what they're talking about," you said softly. "To hell with them. You work so hard and it shows. Don't let them get to your head." You leaned forward so your forehead touched his. "I'm so proud of you, sweetheart. You've been through so much in your life, and you're doing what you love. You're stronger than you realize. I believe in you. I love you so much."

Ringo grinned and kissed your lips softly. "I love you too," he murmured. "God, how'd I end up with someone so amazing! What would I do without you?"

"Crash and burn," you teased.

He chuckled. "Thank you, love. Your support is all I need to get through this."
